Chapter 56
Chapter 56
Chapter 56: Squad of Crazy Heads
“Commander, why didn’t you tell me that my new superior will be your daughter?” Brenda said, shaking my hand.
“I was going to, but you interrupted me,” Dean said, a bit annoyed.
“Dean, you sound like a pushover sometimes,” I said, making Mom laugh.
“It’s not like that. I just care about what my soldiers want to say,” Dean said, trying to defend himself.
“Yeah, whatever. I was actually here to ask you something. Can you teach me about tactics and planning?” I said, looking at him.
“Huh? Your mother can do that too, you know.”
“I know that, but she isn’t the best at explaining things.”
“I see, that makes sense. We can do that, but I am a bit busy at the moment. We can start tomorrow.”
.....
“That is fine. I was planning to get acquainted with my new squad anyways,” I said, looking back at the 3.
“Okay, I will finalize the paperwork then. Before I forget, you know about the reincarnation meeting that should have been at the end of this week.”
“Yes, If I remember, it will happen here at the Draigs mansion. What about it?” I said, confused.
“Yes, it would have, but Hugo canceled it. We moved it up to the banquet at the end of the month.”
“That damn furry,” I said, annoyed.
“What is a furry?” Dean and Brenda ask.
“Uhm, how to explain this. It’s what we call people who dress up like humanoid animals with a lot of fur on them. They end up looking more like an animal than a humanoid, like me, though. If you are wondering if it’s a compliment, it is not.” I explain, shaking my head.
“I thought all demi-humans see them as kings?” Brenda commented.
“Huh, are you crazy? Do you think a demon fox will bow down to something like that?” I said, raising an eyebrow at her.
“So no?” Brenda said.
“Yes, no. It is only the demi-humans who don’t have the self-confidence that would bow down to them,” I explain.
“Is that true?” Brenda said, looking at Apricot.
“Yes, it is mostly the demi-human who can’t defend themselves. For example, mouse-demis would follow them without question.” Apricot explains.
“Ooh, sorry, it seems I have been misinterpreting their existence, ma’am,” Brenda said, bowing.
“It’s fine. Now come, let’s go and have a talk.” I said, walking out of the office.
Walking out of the mansion, I looked at Brenda, confused.
“I thought you were a samurai?” I said, looking at her giant sword on her back.
“That is right, ma’am. I am just better with bigger Katanas than the small ones,” She said, touching the handle of her sword.
‘I don’t think a 40 cm wide and 1,8 meters blade is a katana.’ I thought, shaking my head.
“I see you got to show it to me later. Let’s go to the garden to talk.” I said, walking away again.
“Yes, ma’am.” All three of them said, following me.
“If you guys call me ma’am one more time, I will pull out your vocal cords,” I said, narrowing my eyes at them menacingly.
“We will remember that commander.” They said gulping
“Just call me Kitsuna, for crying out loud. Hey, Apricot, why are you wearing your contacts again?” I ask while walking.
“Your mother said I should, so the word doesn’t get out about me.” She said.
“That sounds about right. I will let Luna know to make you some blindfolds for your eyes.” I said.
“Is there something special about her eyes?” Brenda ask.
“Yeah, you will see later,” I said, entering the garden. After walking for a while, I sat down on a patch of grass.
“Sit down,” I said, patting the grass. Apricot followed without question while the other 2 hesitated for a second.
“Okay, now that everyone is here, we can do a proper introduction. We will go Name, position in squad, class, and weapon preference. I will start.” I said, sitting up cross-legged.
“My name is Kitsuna Draig, and I will be the commander of this squad. I am only 13 years old, almost 14, and level 30, so I don’t have a class yet. I am a speed-type, and I don’t have a weapon preference.” I said, looking at them.
“Your only 13, and you don’t have a class,” Apricot said, surprised.
“Yes, and I am not planning to get one in the near future,” I said, nodding.
“What do you mean you don’t have a weapon preference?” Brenda ask.
“I use a lot of different weapons in combat.”
“Is there a certain class you are going for then?” Brenda asks, tilting her head.
“I am, but that will stay a secrete for now,” I said.
“Okay. I guess it’s my turn,” Brenda said
“Un.”
“My name is Brenda, no surname. I am a major in the black ops army. I am a samurai level 834. I am a strength type, and I use a bigger than normal Katana for combat.” Brenda said, tapping the sword next to her.
“Can I see your sword if you don’t mind?” I said, standing up.
“Sure.” She said, handing her blade over.
Walking away from everyone a bit, I swung the blade around a few times.
“That thing is a lot lighter than I thought it would be,” I said, giving back the blade and sat down again. Even though it is that big, it was the same weight my ice war hammer is, and I can swing that thing around like an oversize teddy bear.
“I am surprised you could swing it that many times.”
“It is the same weight as my ice war hammer, so it was easy to swing around,” I explain, making one in my hand, showing her.
“Huh? How did you make that weapon appear?” Sirone asks, surprised.
“It’s one of my ability. I can create weapons out of my ice magic.” I said, smiling.
“I see. That is why you don’t have a weapon preference because you can make your own anytime.” Apricot said.
“Yeah, that’s good and all, but I am useless in a mid and long-range fight. Well, for the moment.” I said, shrugging.
“I see, but that doesn’t explain why you could swing my blade like that,” Brenda asks again.
“My strength sits at 795 at the moment.”
“What a prodigy.” Brenda and Sirone said, amazed.
“Not really most reincarnation should be able to do that,” I said, shrugging.
“Seriously?” Brenda asks worriedly.
“Yeah, but you don’t have to worry too much about it for now. Sirone, you’re next.”
“Okay, my name is Sirone. I am Brenda’s little sister. I am a level 569 healing sage. I have no experience in weaponry.” Sirone said, making me tilt my head.
“Yeah, we will change that. You can’t go into a fight without any way to protect yourself.”
“But she is a healer,” Brenda said.
“I am not going to have a healer on my team that cant protect themself. I would rather have my team go on missions without one then.”
“But...” Brenda said with a worried expression.
“Don’t worried I will get her a gun or something so she can attack from range. We will also get her new combat clothes. I can’t have her look like a healer making her a target.”
“But she looks so cute in her healing robes on,” Brenda said, pouting.
“You think I look cute,” Sirone mumbled, blushing.
“Of course, you look super cute with your healing robes on,” Brenda said enthusiastically.
“Okay, can we move on? Apricot your turn and tell them everything.” I said, getting us back on track.
“My name is Apricot. I am a slave of Kitsuna reason why is because I am an ex-federation soldier. I am not planning on betraying you as the federation abused and did things to me I will never forgive. I am a level 463 Puppeteer with Illusionist’s eyes. As a puppeteer, I don’t specialize in any weapon, but I can use wires to a good extent.”
“PFFF, Yeah, right, I bet... ugh,” Brenda said before finding an ice sword pointed against her throat.
“Look at her right ear,” I said, taking the sword back.
“Why?” Brenda said, narrowing her eyes at me. Looking at Apricots head. Seeing her half-cut ear, she looked down in shame.
“That is only the surface damage you can see but believe me. There is a lot more. Also, do remember this. I might be friendly and easy-going, but I am not naive.” I said, making the atmosphere even more gloomy.
“You forgot to add crazy,” Apricot commented, making Brenda gasp.
.....
“Are you sure I did?” I said, grinning.
“Would a sane person force someone to take a bath in ice after knowing them for a couple of seconds?” Apricot said, hugging herself.
“What, but you were dirty. I just wanted you to be clean.”
“You didn’t have to force me and through me into an ice bath,” Apricot said, annoyed?
“I did warn you, though,” I said with a small grin.
“A second before you dropped me into the bath does not count as a warning,” Apricot said, grounding her teeth, glaring at me.
“You guys don’t seem to hate each other even though you’re her slave,” Sirone said, smiling.
“Un, of course, what isn’t to like about me,” I said, grinning.
“I can name quite a few.” Apricot commended.
“Well, back to more important things. We will start training together tomorrow before you say anything about your level, it won’t be helpful. Your level won’t help you guys in my training.” I said, giving the Stacy training smirk.
“We are fucked.” Brenda mumbled.
