The Tycoon's Odyssey

Chapter 206: 206:Escaped

Chapter 206: 206:Escaped

In the dim light of the corridor, shadows flickered across the cracked walls. A man crouched low, concealed within the jagged crevices, his breath shallow as he peered through a small scope. From his hidden vantage point, he had a clear view of the intense battle raging before him. Sparks flew and the clash of the weapons created a chaotic atmosphere.

He adjusted the focus of the scope, his brow furrowing as he took in the advanced tactical gear worn by the combatants. "This is troublesome…" he murmured under his breath. The designs of the suits worn by the group who had infiltrated looked familiar. Every member of Hawk seemed to be equipped with similar technology—likely prototypes.

Shifting slightly, he felt the rough edge of the wall digging into his back but he remained focused. The urgency of the situation pressed on him as he recognized Mac, a figure he knew all too well, even amid the ongoing frenzy. "Alas, his face is covered," he thought, frustration bubbling beneath the surface.

Suddenly, a piercing scream echoed through the corridor, sending the man's heart racing. It was a cry filled with pain and desperation.

"Hmm! Why does he look so familiar?" he wondered, the image of the soldier etched in his mind. A troubling sense of connection stirred within him, but he quickly brushed it aside. He knew he had to retreat.

The battle continued and was edging dangerously close to his hiding spot. After scanning the area for an escape route, he realized that the security passage would be his best chance to avoid detection.

With careful movements, he slipped away from the cracks in the wall, moving silently through the shadows. Instinct urged him to hurry as the sounds of battle grew louder, each impact reverberating through the corridor.

Reaching the security passage, he paused, listening intently for any sign of pursuit. The chaos behind him was a stark reminder of how close he had come to being discovered.

"I can't afford to be seen," he whispered to himself, pushing himself forward into the narrow, dimly lit corridor and disappearing.

_____

The corridor became chaotic and members of Hawk gasped in shock, witnessing the brutal combat unfold.

Faint tremors shook the place and the sides of the passage, already filled with large cracks, were further battered as the two figures slammed into each other.

Thankfully, the passage was spacious and walls were reinforced. Without it, who knew what the consequences could have been?

The energy levels in the suits began fluctuating due to the sheer intensity of the battle. The nuclear cells powering the suit had been suppressed to limit the radiation output, but since all the suits were prototype with the still advanced version on test, if they don't limit the use, there was the risk of uncontrolled reaction, possibly resulting in a grievous explosion.

However, despite the added safeguards, the thrusters, tactical arms and joints powering the suit started to wear off. The team had yet to find a material with strong resistance while being lightweight at the same time.

Mac's movements gradually slowed down as he focused on ending the fight.

His opponent, though visibly fatigued, refused to back down. He lunged at Mac with a series of high-speed strikes, determined to turn the tide of this battle in his favor.

Mac, however, remained calm and focused. He was using the suit's enhanced sensors to predict the superhuman's attacks.

Suddenly, the superhuman threw a powerful punch, catching Mac off guard. The big guy stumbled back but quickly regained his footing.

Mac retaliated with a series of calculated strikes, each of his strikes enhanced by his suit's strength, allowing him to land blows with significant impact. The two combatants exchanged a flurry of punches and kicks, their movements a blur of motion, but despite the suit's advancements, he struggled to keep up with the superhuman's raw power and speed.

One of Mac's squad members shouted from behind him, "Sir, do you need backup? You are getting overwhelmed!"

The urgency in his voice was palpable as Mac fought to maintain his focus.

Just as Mac was starting to falter, another superhuman joined the fray.

This new combatant, built like a tank, used his immense strength to hurl Mac aside, sending him crashing into the metal wall with a deafening crash.

BOOM!

The impact rattled Mac's suit, but he quickly recovered and pushed himself off the wall to face the new threat.

"Where the hell is your superior?" Mac roared, his voice a mix of anger.

He looked at the other guy and shouted, "Where is that bastard Arjun hiding?"

The superhumans exchanged no words, their focus solely on taking down Mac. The battle grew savage, the second superhuman pummeling Mac using his superior strength. Every blow reverberated through the suit, pushing its systems to their limits.

Repeated warnings began to flash, showing signs of damage; the suit's HUD flickered with warnings of system strain and rising temperatures.

In the midst of the chaos, Mac's suit was finally able to activate its thrusters for a high-speed maneuver.

As he launched himself into the air, the suit's mechanical boots lit up, propelling him with force. He soared above the combatants, his body encased in glowing energy, before coming crashing down on the second superhuman with a devastating aerial tackle.

BOOM!

The collision rattled the corridor, sending debris scattering around. The second superhuman grunted in pain but quickly tried to regain his footing.

Though disoriented, Mac followed up with a powerful punch, sending the opponent reeling back. The intense fight was a blur of high-impact moves, with Mac using his suit's enhanced strength to deliver one crushing blow after the other.

Amidst the fray, Mac let out a pained scream as another blow connected. "Where's your superior?!" he demanded, his voice a mix of fury and desperation. "Tell me where that bastard is hiding!"

No answer came—only the relentless assault from the superhumans. The suit's warning systems flashed across Mac's display, indicating severe overheating and damage. Aurora's voice crackled over the communicator.

[Mac, the suit can't handle much more. You need to finish this quickly!]

As the second guy kept Mac busy, the first one tried to slip away, hiding in the shadows and waiting for the perfect moment. He planned to lock Mac and twist his neck apart.

He was sure that the suit wasn't strong enough near the neck to protect against high force.

Just then, a deafening roar echoed through the corridor. The first superhuman, who had been preparing to strike Mac, was blasted backwards. A large hole appeared in his chest as he collapsed to the ground with a heavy thud. The source of the blast was quickly apparent: a towering sniper rifle, its barrel still glowing faintly from the discharge.

"Holy shit! What was that?!" one of Mac's squad members exclaimed, his eyes wide with shock.

The exclamation was followed by a massive explosion that rocked the corridor as the superhuman lay motionless, a gaping wound in his chest. The shot came from a sniper rifle, wielded by a man who had followed Aurora's order and quickly hid during the fight and assembled the weapon as per her instructions and waited to shoot.

The sniper rifle, with its sleek, futuristic design, had a long barrel and cooling vents to manage its immense energy discharged. It was an electromagnetic weapon, it was designed to deliver a focused, high-energy blast thanks to its devastating potential.

With the immediate threat neutralized, Mac turned his attention to the only surviving superhuman, who was trying to get away after the sudden turn of events. "I ain't letting you get away!"

With that, Mac activated the suit's thrusters for a high-speed pursuit. The thrusters of his suit roared to life before propelling him forward with incredible speed.

Meanwhile, the superhuman darted through the corridors with agility, but with his enhanced speed, Mac was able to quickly close the gap. Once he was close enough, he activated the suit's advanced targeting systems and locked it onto his quarry.

As he approached, he launched himself into the air while still being propelled by the suit's mechanical boots and tackled the superhuman mid-air, slamming him against the cold, metal walls of the corridor with a bone-jarring impact.

The superhuman struggled, but Mac engaged the suit's advanced restraint systems to secure him tightly.

The impact left the superhuman groaning in pain, but Mac didn't relent. He only tightened the restraints, ensuring the foe was secured before delivering a charged punch to the superhuman's chest as his finishing move which sent him crashing into the wall with a resounding impact. The superhuman slumped to the ground, his strength finally giving way under the relentless assault.

The corridor fell silent, save for the labored breaths of the combatants and the hum of the Mac's Nova Suit's energy systems. The big fellow stood over the fallen superhuman, his expression one of grim satisfaction.

"Stay down, you son of bitch!" Mac roared, his voice echoing through the corridor. The remaining squad members gathered around him, their faces etched with concern.

"Mac, are you alright?" one of them asked, the worry for his comrade evident in his voice.

"Yeah, I'm fine," Mac replied, though his tone was strained. "But we need to find out where the superior is hiding. We can't leave until we have the answers."

The squad then continued to search the area, but the suit's systems were showing signs of overheating, eliciting Aurora's voice to urgently crackle over the communicator.

[Mac, be careful. The suit is still in the testing phase. It may not withstand anymore. It's better to discard it now.]

Mac nodded, his face set in a grim expression. "Roger that. Let's secure the area…"
