Chapter 267: 267:Danger

Chapter 267: 267:Danger

The words hit Amit like a punch to the gut. His heart raced, panic setting in.

"What the hell? How do you know this?" he shouted, nearly leaping out of his chair.

World halted down fro second before the agent replied, his voice grim. "The intel just came in, sir. It's confirmed."

"Intel...What Intel?"

Amit felt the ground beneath him shift. The anxiety he'd been suppressing burst into full-blown fear. His knuckles turned white as he clenched his fists.

This was the disaster he had feared and thought no one would know about it but suddenly he just got a call who said they know about this.

Amit Sharma's hand trembled as he held the phone to his ear, his mind swirling with fear and uncertainty. The voice on the other end continued in a hurried whisper, barely audible over the static on the line.

"Sir, as you know, Evan had many guards. We couldn't beat them, so we infiltrated. We planted our people as undercover agents and slowly gained their trust."

Amit nodded to himself, listening intently. Then came the part that made his heart race:

"Just now, Evan boarded his private jet. He's headed to Dilli. And... we've been given the order to kill him. But it's worse than that, sir he's already found out everything. He and Mahajan are on the move. Forces have been dispatched to hunt him down. And those assassins aren't to be underestimated. Sir... if you're involved, there's a good chance the person behind this knows your connection too…"

Before the man could finish, Amit's panic boiled over. His hand shot to the screen, cutting off the call mid-sentence. His breath became erratic and cold sweat trickled down his temples. His whole body trembled with a mixture of fear and helplessness.

He didn't fear Evan but he definitely feared Mahajan.Even his own party wouldn't protect him if the head of Mahajan went after him.

He fumbled with the phone, nearly dropping it as he scrolled through his contacts. His finger hovered for a second before tapping on a name tagged Anonymous. The call went through, and the waiting seemed to stretch into eternity.

Finally, a voice answered cold and emotionless, as though the speaker was carved from ice.

"What is it now?"

"It's... it's over!" Amit stammered, his voice breaking as fear surged through him.

There was a pause, long and deliberate, before the other person replied.

"What do you mean by that? Have you finally lost your mind?" Discover stories with mvl

Amit wiped his sweaty brow with a shaky hand. "No, listen to me! We don't have time for this. I wouldn't have called if it wasn't urgent."

The voice on the other end became dangerously cold, as though a blade hovered just over Amit's throat.

"Didn't I tell you not to contact me directly? If there's a problem, you were supposed to send a signal. We meet like ordinary businessmen not like this."

Amit clenched his jaw, ignoring the rebuke. "They've figured out your identity," he whispered in a strained voice. "An assassin's been sent. Evan knows everything, and Mahajan's with him. They're coming for you."

A long, heavy silence followed. Then came an unexpected sound of laughter. It was low, cruel, and eerily calm.

"Hahaha! Is this another one of your jokes?"

"No," Amit hissed urgently. "This is real. If it wasn't, would I have called?"

The humor vanished in an instant. The voice became sharp and icy, cutting into Amit's nerves like a knife.

"If you're wrong, I'll make sure you regret this."

Amit closed his eyes, heart pounding, and relayed every word the agent had told him. There was another pause on the other end, this time filled with cold calculation.

"I see..."

The voice spoke slowly, each word laced with menace. "So, Evan discovered us. Maybe it's your incompetence that led him here. No matter this changes everything. We have no choice now but to proceed with the final step."

Amit swallowed hard, dread rising within him. "What... What is the final step?"

The answer came like a death sentence.

"To eliminate Mahajan and seize complete control of the Mahajan Empire."

.........

Evan sat back in the plush leather seat of his private jet, the low hum of the engines filling the cabin. His cold eyes were locked on a tablet in his hand, replaying a security video.

The footage showed a group of people, dressed impeccably in formal suits, posing as hotel workers. They moved with precision and confidence until they reached their targets.

Two familiar faces, a couple being kidnapped by a group of men flashed on the screen.

Those two were his adoptive parents.

The group in the video operated without hesitation as they forcefully barged in.

Within moments, they subdued those two idiots, dragged them into black sedans, and vanished from the scene. Evan paused the video just as the vehicles disappeared beyond the camera's view.

His fingers tapped the armrest rhythmically, his mind running through the possibilities. Then, in a cold, measured tone, he spoke:

"Did he bite the bait?"

A soft, synthetic voice echoed from the jet's speaker.

[Yes, Sir. However, he won't be retreating. Rather, he's plotting to take over the entire Mahajan Group. He may also be planning to eliminate you.]

Evan's expression darkened, though his gaze remained calm.

"So... Do you know who he is?"

[From the call we intercepted, we traced his location. Using sensory inputs from our operative inside, I am 80% certain that the mastermind is Mithal Mahajan.]

Evan's brows furrowed ever so slightly. "Only 80%? Why not 100?"

[The current location is crowded, with many high-profile individuals in the vicinity. There's a chance Mithal is a scapegoat, and the real mastermind is hiding behind him.]

Evan leaned back, his mind spinning through scenarios. He knew the Mahajan family far too well. It wasn't just a business group,it was a battlefield of ambition like every other family.

Every move in the family was calculated, with betrayal lurking beneath even the kindest smiles.

Mithal Mahajan... Of course, it had to be him. Evan's gaze grew sharper as Aurora's voice continued to resonate through the cabin.

Mithal was his uncle in relation separated by an old family tradition.

The Mahajan rule was simple but brutal, while one sibling inherited control of the company, the other was stripped from any influence within the business.

All the excluded siblings could claim was the parents' personal property, nothing more. They wouldn't be allowed to be in board directors or hold important positions in the group that might jeopardize the situation in case a conflict arose.

When Evan's father had inherited the group, Mithal was left only with his share of property and wealth, a staggering 1 billion USD, received nearly three decades ago.

Mithal didn't let it go to waste. He had built businesses, invested aggressively, and expanded his empire until the 2008 financial crash struck like a tidal wave, wiping him out.

But Mithal wasn't the kind of man to accept failure. Resentment had festered in him for years, and the loss of his fortune only fueled his desire for revenge.

Aurora's next words broke Evan from his thoughts.

[It seems Mithal was never content with the wealth he lost. Now, he's making his most dangerous move yet. No matter the cost, he intends to bring the Mahajan Group under his control sooner or later.]

Evan exhaled slowly, his expression unreadable. Mithal had always been dangerous, but if his uncle was truly behind this... it meant things were about to spiral out of control.

"So," Evan murmured to himself, "he's finally making his move."

His mind worked in silence. The kidnapping, the takeover plan, and the attempted assassination were all part of Mithal's grand scheme.

A scheme not only to regain power but to destroy anyone standing in his way.

It was such a scheme that even if Mithal lost, he had ensured that the power would fall onto his hands in the future.

Evan's eyes drifted toward the darkening horizon outside the jet's window.

"Prepare everything," he ordered coldly.

[Yes, Sir. Should we activate the contingency protocols?]

Evan gave a slight nod.

"If Mithal wants war... I'll give him one."

Aurora's voice responded with calm precision.

[Understood. All systems on standby.]

Evan stared out at the distant clouds, his thoughts sharpening into a singular purpose. Mithal wouldn't get what he wanted. If his uncle was determined to tear down the Mahajan Group, Evan would ensure that Mithal himself was the first to fall.

Just as he was lost in thought a deep warning sound started ringing.

[Sir, there is a big problem on Miss Suri's end that needs your urgent attention.]
