Chapter 272: 272:Damsel In Distress
Suri's vision blurred as the grip around her neck tightened, yet defiance simmered in her chest, surfacing as a wicked smile instead of a look of pain.
Despair clawed at her, threatening to engulf her, painting a future worse than death where she would be nothing more than a pawn in Paul's game. Yet, in that dark moment, she chose to embrace the pain, laughing softly through the chaos.
With a sudden surge of disgust at the man for touching her, Suri spat on his face, her spit hitting the man's cheek. "You think you can break me? You have no idea what I'm capable of!"
Paul stepped closer, amusement flickering across his features as he looked at her with a twisted grin, a mixture of admiration and contempt.
"Ah, my dear sister," he sneered, "it's cute how you cling to your bravado in the face of certain doom."
After saying this he raised his hand and slapped her face hard. Although the sting radiated through her cheek, Suri held his gaze, her expression unyielding.
"Another slap won't make me fear you," she taunted, laughter bubbling in her throat even as she tasted blood. But Paul remained unfazed and struck her again, the sound of the impact echoing through the room.
His eyes narrowed as he prepared to strike once more. "You'll soon learn the consequences of your insolence, bitch…" Continue reading at mvl
"You have always been haughty," he continued, "but not for long. It's time to take what's mine… and erase from the very picture."
Screaming, he clenched his fist, wanting to punch her, but just then…
Suddenly, a bluish light illuminated the entire hall, casting eerie shadows across the walls. Suri's heart raced with a mix of dread and curiosity, while the grip on her neck loosened momentarily as Paul's attention diverted.
"What's happening?" Paul's voice wavered, panic seeping in. The light grew brighter, illuminating the chaos as the ground beneath them began to shake.
BOOOOM!
The walls and windows exploded into a shower of debris, sending shards of glass and plaster flying like deadly rain.
A massive thud reverberated through the venue, causing everyone to stagger back in shock and as the dust settled, confusion was painted on the faces of Paul and his men, as they looked at the layer of smoke.
In the center of the swirling smoke stood a humanoid figure clad in a robotic bulky mechanic armor, reminiscent of superhero suits but with its own unique style.
The air thickened with tension as the figure began to open up, revealing a man clad in advanced armor.
He stepped forward, exuding an aura of power, his voice cold. "I have seen many insects crawling under people's feet, but never have I seen one that is so eager to be stepped on and crushed."
A chill swept through the room, suffocating the atmosphere while Suri's eyes widened in disbelief.
Paul's bravado crumbled, fear flashing across his face as he stared at the newcomer. "Who are you? No…shoot him down!" he barked, but his voice betrayed his desperation.
In an instant, Paul's henchmen scrambled for their weapons, firing without hesitation. But what happened next shook them to their core.
The bullets seemed to hit an invisible barrier around the armored man, stopping mid-air as if they had hit a wall, the bullets then ricocheted back, forcing all of those who had shot them a moment ago to dive for cover.
Paul's voice rose in a furious scream as his eyes widened with disbelief.
"What is happening? Get rid of that man! Now!" His commands were frantic, panic lacing his tone as he struggled to comprehend the chaos unfolding before him.
One of his men nodded, steeling himself for action. "Yes, sir!" He stepped forward, determination etched across his face.
Evan sneered as he stepped out. Despite Aurora's warnings not to, he couldn't help but want to flaunt his power.
"Listen here, scums."
He pulled his arm back, clenching his fist as he focused on Paul. The air around him stirred, and a faint glow emanated from his body, giving him an almost otherworldly presence.
"I am not just any man. I am Evan," he declared, his voice resonating with authority.
BOOOOM!
A cataclysmic sound erupted as Evan punched forward, his fist slicing through the air like a cannonball. The force was immense, creating a pressure wave that rippled outward, sending men flying as if they were nothing more than pins in a bowling alley.
"AHHHHHHHH!"
Screams of pain echoed throughout the room, swallowed by the chaos. Paul felt his sanity slipping away as he watched his men being tossed around like leaves in a storm. Confusion reigned in his mind, but he couldn't afford to falter.
Spinning around, he shouted at his superhuman guards. "Attack him! Don't just stand there!"
But before he could finish his command, Evan blurred, vanishing from his spot only to appear right behind the man gripping Suri's throat in the blink of an eye.
"Let her go!" Evan roared, smashing his fist into the back of the guard's head with a sickening thud.
BOOOM!
The man holding Suri was slammed to the ground, forced to release Suri in shock.
Meanwhile, Evan hurried to catch Suri just in time before stomping his foot on the man's face, causing a spider web of cracks across the floor.
Evan turned before swiftly kicking another guard aside and caught Suri in his arms, pulling her close. "Are you okay?" he asked, his face etched with concern as he scanned her for injuries.
Suri looked up at him, her heart racing. "I… I'm fine. Just scared. Thank you for coming!"
Her voice trembled slightly, but relief glimmered in her eyes as she felt his strength envelop her.
Evan's gaze hardened as he turned toward Paul. "You've gone too far this time, Paul. But don't worry—I won't kill you."
A chilling glint flickered in his eyes. "You will suffer worse…"
With a flick of his wrist, the robotic armor shot toward him, enveloping his entire body in a sleek, powerful shell.
Tiny particle-like extensions branched out wrapping around Suri as well, providing her with an unexpected sense of safety.
"Hold on tight!" Evan commanded, and with a powerful thrust, he shot upward, bursting through the roof with incredible force. The debris rained down around them as they soared into the sky, leaving Paul below, bewildered and shouting in helpless fury.
"No! You can't escape! I will make you pay for this!" Paul screamed, his voice fading into the distance as they ascended higher, the world below them shrinking away.
