Chapter 1149: Archon

Sheyan was about to target the Arbitrator again but the Predator had already aimed his right shoulder cannon, which was still intact, at Sheyan and fired a high-energy plasma pulse. The target was a spot two or three meters in front of Sheyan.
The earth burst and dust scattered to a height of three or four meters, blocking Sheyan’s view of the surroundings. After Sheyan rushed past the flying soil in front of him and tried to aim again, he saw the Predator jumping at Aldaris. Aldaris was not able to perform his ‘Blood-Elude’ ability in time before the Arbitrator’s knees knocked him into the air. The monster then pierced Aldaris’ chest with a spear!
Sheyan’s heart sank. The Predator only needed another hit to take another life!
However, Aldaris’ reaction was completely out of Sheyan’s expectations. He gripped onto the bloody spear in his chest without the slightest trace of fear in his eyes. Following an intense flash, Aldaris became surrounded by a white light, and the bones in his body crackled like they were all breaking. He forced out these words through gnashing teeth that were awash with blood:
“Have a taste of my real strength, you fool!”
“Light Transformation!”
At that instant, the bloody spear gripped by Aldaris dissolved and vaporised! The mysterious symbols engraved on them exploded in succession, but they could not harm Aldaris.
Aldaris’ clothes began to burn fiercely, after which a large area of darkness extended outwards with him at the core! Those who were caught in the darkness instantly felt like they had gotten lost among the vast starry sky!
After that, the area of darkness shrunk rapidly as if it was water that was sucked into a giant whale. The white light surrounding Aldaris became more concentrated, almost taking on the form of dense mist. It was pure, bright, and contained an indescribable dignity.
“And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
And God saw the light, and it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.”
That was to say, only darkness can give birth to true light!
After the dark realm burned out, Aldaris had become a giant light sphere that was suspended half a meter in the air! The light sphere was completely filled with dense light substance that had taken on physical form. Anyone who laid eyes upon it would find themselves temporarily blinded, as if they were looking directly at the sun or the sparks from arc welding.
A bizarre, pale-blue humanoid creature could be vaguely seen at the very core of the light sphere.
This was the strongest power Aldaris had kept hidden, his ultimate ace!
‘Light Transformation’, an ability to transform into the most powerful Protoss creature!
The ability to become an Archon!
Currently, Aldaris’ body had changed back into the body of an ordinary human without any strengthening, but it was protected with an incomparably thick plasma shield. He was so fragile in this instant, yet so strong!
Sheyan finally sighed with relief as he watched this scene unfold. The huge pressure that the Arbitrator brought to him felt a bit lighter.
Aldaris casually waved his hand. Suddenly, a strand of white lightning as thick as a baby’s arm plowed across the ground, rolling up soil as it headed towards the Arbitrator. The Arbitrator instantly tried to dodge, but the white lightning followed him like a shadow and finally struck his body fiercely!
Emerald blood dotted the air and vaporised after an instant. The Arbitrator staggered backwards. Although he had been struck many times before this, those attacks were absorbed by his powerful armour. So far, this was the first time that he had injured and bled!
The Arbitrator shouted angrily and the crystal on his waist flashed. This was the foresign of his signature spear throw. The spear throw was not only extremely powerful, it also seemed to mess with others’ perception of time and space. Often, the bloody spear would hit the victim first before others would see the Predator in a throwing motion.
His target this time was unsurprisingly the Archon that Aldaris had changed into. However, when his bloody spear shot into the Archon’s plasma shield, it was reminiscent of a moth which flew into a fire!
As soon as the tip of the spear touched the plasma shield, it started to dissolve! But the rear end of the spear continued to rush in under the action of inertia, and the spear continued to melt! The attack was resolved so quietly, so peacefully!
That was how powerful the plasma shield was. Any attack can be broken down and absorbed as long as the shield had enough energy left.
Taking opportunity of the pause in the Arbitrator’s action after throwing the spear, Sheyan raised ‘Verdict’, aimed it at the Predator, and spoke every single word in a tone of passing down judgement, “I judge this creature in front of me to be an enemy of light and an ally of evil. May the soul of the heathen howl in the fires of hell for thousands of years to come!”
Then, Sheyan calmly pulled the trigger! A large amount of dazzling light sprayed out from the muzzle of ‘Verdict’ to completely enshroud the Arbitrator! The Arbitrator may be strong, but he still could not avoid being harmed by the formidable dark gold weapon that could evolve!
A strange pillar of light suddenly fell from the sky to illuminate the Arbitrator. A black aura, like evil in a corporeal form, leaked out from his body. Aldaris naturally would not miss this rare opportunity. The Archon possessed a very strong attack which belonged to the long-range holy damage category and also had an area of effect. It did not matter if its attack did not land accurately on the enemy; as long as the enemy was within the scope of the attack, they would suffer the full blow.
The Arbitrator was bathed in a dazzling milky white light after it received the attack. All the remaining armour on his body burned and exploded, including the mask. Black spots of all sizes started surfacing on his scar-covered body. The black spots looked like those that would appear when a piece of white paper was put up to a flame.
He grunted and could not help spewing out a mouthful of emerald blood. The blood actually evaporated before it hit the ground!
Although ‘Verdict’s’ stun effect only lasted for five seconds, these five seconds felt as long as five years for the furious and shocked Arbitrator. He could clearly feel his strong body being chipped away and destroyed bit by bit, and life rapidly slipping away from him.
The current battle was the greatest crisis he had ever faced in his life!
Strictly speaking, the powerful Arbitrator was indeed beyond the level of an Awakener. He was at least two tiers above Sheyan and one and a half tier above Aldaris in terms of strength! That was why the contestants felt like sheep he could slaughter at will at the beginning of the fight.
However, Sheyan managed to level the gap between the two with his powerful equipment, and after Aldaris transformed, his strength actually surpassed Awakeners. That was why the two men could cause fatal damage to the Arbitrator after they joined hands.
The armour on the Arbitrator was soon completely destroyed. Although the Arbitrator cut a sorry figure at the moment with wounds all over his body, his slender figure and clearly-defined muscles still gave off a feeling of robustness and ferociousness akin to a cheetah.
When the five seconds of stun was coming to an end, Sheyan decided to go all out. He abruptly closed in on the Predator. The veins on his left hand bulged like blue little snakes, looking like they were going to burst in the next second. A huge shadow materialised around his left hand.
Sheyan’s face was as grim as a ghost that had just climbed out from the depths of hell. He took a deep breath as the blood vessels under his feet extended outwards like roots to absorb energy from the ground. His left hand struck fiercely at the shoulder blade of the Arbitrator.
The Arbitrator had just recovered from the stun, so even though he was extremely agile, he could hardly escape this disaster. His shoulder sank as Sheyan slapped down on his shoulder blade. This ‘Beast of Corrosion’ contained all of Sheyan’s anger and frustration; it was launched with all his might!
The slap on the Predator’s shoulder blade looked rather ordinary, but at the spot where their skin came into contact, Sheyan’s blood vessels had quickly penetrated into the Arbitrator’s body like a large number of snakes, then broke off and swam deeper into the Predator’s body like numerous parasites. The illusionary image of the ‘Stairway of the Sun’ also sent a lot of its tendrils deep inside the Arbitrator!
A strange sensation spread through the Arbitrator’s nervous system. A black liquid with a foul odour flowed out of the part of his body that was touched by Sheyan, followed by a mass decaying of the flesh. The skin around the spot became as rough as the skin of a toad.
The Arbitrator issued a painful cry, and the crystal on his waist suddenly broke apart and lost its colour. A gentle force abruptly filled his body, sending Sheyan flying seven or eight meters away. Then, before Aldaris’ next attack could reach him, the Arbitrator fled with amazing speed, leaving several after-images behind, and finally disappeared into thin air.
Seeing this development, Sheyan’s face sank. He could not help lamenting, “Damn, I should’ve known he might do that. We’ll have endless trouble from now on!”
