Melanie followed Xander back to the hospital. Xander called the doctor over to check on her condition and forced Melanie to lie on the bed.
Melanie was still in shock after what happened and rested in bed.
However, after a while, she opened her eyes and looked at Xander as she reminded gently, “Xander, it is getting late. Why don’t you go back to the hotel? Don’t you have an appointment with the client tomorrow?”
Xander’s hand that was pouring the water froze as he looked at Melanie silently.
Melanie continued, “I'll ask the nurse for help if | need anything. Don’t worry.”
Xander was only her friend. She had no reason to make him stay with her for the night. It was inappropriate. Melanie bit her lip and pondered what to say upon getting no answer from Xander.
Aglass of water was handed to her, and Xander said, “What are you worrying about? I'll get a caretaker for you. I'll leave after having dinner.”
Melanie explained, “The sky is getting dark.” It was early winter, and the sky got dark quicker than usual. It was only eight at night, and the sky was already dark. Xander said, “I'll go and get us dinner.”
Just then, the ward door opened. Lee entered with two takeaway boxes and said, “Mr. Henry ordered this for you and sent it to your hotel room. Mr. Scott told me to bring it here for you.”
Henry had told Melanie about ordering food for her.
Melanie said nothing. Lee put down the takeaway boxes and left.
Xander looked at the takeaway boxes on the table and said expressionlessly, “Looks like | don’t have to get dinner.” Melanie nodded. “Let's have these.”
He did not have enough time to look after Melanie. He could only employ a caretaker for her and leave. Before leaving, he reminded Melanie, “Don’t wander around and let strangers enter your ward.” Melanie asked, “Do | look like a kindergartener to you?”
“Call me if you need anything.”
Melanie was touched, but she would pay attention to all these even if Xander had not reminded her. She knew someone was trying to hurt her, and it was impossible for her not to be wary of it.

As she pondered, Melanie got out of bed to have dinner. She disliked eating on the bed.
Just as she got off the bed, someone walked inside.
“Since you can’t even stay in bed, should | ask the doctor to check if you have hyperactivity disorder?” Eugene’s impatient voice came from the door, and Melanie saw him standing there.
Stunned, she asked, “Why are you here?”
Eugene looked at the takeaway boxes. “Lee sent these here, didn’t he?”
Melanie understood.
Henry ordered two sets of dinner, and Eugene was there to have his portion.
After all, Henry had Lee as his spy.
Melanie nodded and sat by the table.
Eugene looked at her and frowned before sitting beside her.
He asked casually, “Don’t you have a great boss? Why isn’t Xander accompanying you?”
