Chapter 125
Chapter 125
125 Trap
Thud! Thud!
“Ouch!”
“Sorry, Jake!”
They somehow managed to stop their fall one way or another. But the fall itself was not that far, though.
Lotte landed on top of Jake, so she quickly moved away to make sure that she would not crash onto him. At the same time, they were all looking at the area around them and noticed that they were in a small cave.
As the flashlight was pointed down, they were stunned when they saw a large number of rotting corpses. Some of them even had turned into skeleton completely due to the long time that passed here.
“The dirt is black in color.” Lotte noticed the wall around them looked somewhat different. “Maybe we have to climb up...”
“Meow!”
“Ants above us!”
.....
With that warning, everyone readied their stance to fight. But instead of coming down, the giant mutated ants were pushing the wall, blocking their route up. At the same time, this would cut off their oxygen supply and eventually make them suffocate to death.
“No! We have to stop them!” Jake was startled and quickly tried to form more metal spears.
Blaar!
Kyle directly burned these giant mutated ants into ashes. But even when he killed some of them, there were more others coming and pushing the dirt to block them. These black colored soil was extremely hard and neither one of them was of earth element.
They wouldn’t be able to move it directly.
“I can remove the metal particles from the soils, but this black soil didn’t seem to be the same as ordinary soil.” Jake was desperate when he saw that the route up was blocked. In this situation, they were simply being buried to death.
“We can dig out too? The research facility is in this direction.” Lotte pointed at one direction and still felt a bit helpless. There might be countless giant mutated ants around and they couldn’t deal with them.
“Damn it!”
Kyle narrowed his eyes. He was not fast enough to deal with these giant mutated ants and then looked around him. With the help of the flashlight, he could see the pile of crystals not far from them.
Two transparent, one red, one grey, one chocolate, and one white. No wonder that these people were attracted here. These gems were basically the best bait for these awakened to willingly walk here.
And after that, these giant mutated ants only needed to block their air supply to kill them.
“These giant mutated ants are too smart.” Kyle narrowed his eyes. He took out a compass and knew that the research facility was in the direction that Lotte mentioned. But it was too far and they might not be able to reach the research facility safely within the needed time to dig.
“Meow.”
Kate had also helped to take out those white dots, but she was also not fast enough. Besides, these rank 4 giant mutated ants were so vigorous that it took her a long time to deal with them.
Knowing that the air supply was limited, Kate also felt a bit panicked.
Then she realized that aside from digging their way out, she could simply put these black soil into her space. She didn’t know how much would be needed, but her space was quite big.
“Kyle, she said that she can put these soil into her space.” Lotte looked at Kyle and then at Kate. She took a deep breath. “That might be the fastest way for us to dig our way out towards the research facility.”
If they dig up, these giant mutated ants could just add more of these black soils and it would be endless. But if they could reach the research facility, Jake would be able to melt the metal door and allowed them to enter the location.
At the very least, it would be better than doing nothing.
“You...” Kyle frowned and looked at Kate.
“Meow.”
Kate looked at Kyle seriously. In fact, she was a bit worried that the black soil would be too much for her space to bear because the amount she had to put inside would be a lot. But at this time, there was no time for her to care about that.
Anyway, each of these supplies were somewhat protected and couldn’t contact the other things inside her space. Because of that, Kate was not that worried that piling them up would make these things dirty.
Though, she usually still separates them for convenience sake.
“Put this into your space.” Kyle handed the two transparent gems to Kate.
“Meow.”
Kate put the two transparent gems into her space and then focused on the black soil in front of her. Soon, they disappeared at the speed visible to the naked eyes. More and more of these soil disappeared into Kate’s space, opening up a straight path towards the direction of the research facility.
“Take the gems and let’s go.”
The earth above them rumbled and it seemed that digging these also caused the foundation to crack. They quickly took the gems respective to their elements and ran on the tunnel that Kate made.
Behind them, the ceiling was dropping and crashed so quickly that there was almost no time to respond. It felt as if these giant mutated ants were trying to bury them all alive by pressing them down.
In any case, they had to hurry.
Kate felt tired as she put more and more of these black soil into her space. She didn’t know why, but she felt her space was rumbling and trembling as if it was bearing weight that it couldn’t withstand.
But she had no time to care.
“Damn it, these giant mutated ants are all so crazy!” Jake cursed under his breath. He could sense that these giant mutated ants were definitely rampaging right above them, trying to bury them all alive.
If they were still in that small cave tunnel, they would have long been pressed to death because of these giant mutated ants.
“Can we reinforce the ceiling?”
“There’s no point in doing that. And what the hell are these black soils? Why are they so different from other soils?” Jake was cursing so loudly and felt that these black soils should just disappear.
They were denser than ordinary soil, making him felt that these soil were the product of research of these researchers too. There was no evidence to support his words, but this was what Jake felt right now.
“Run,” Dylan said in a low voice.
Kyle didn’t say anything and only focus on the little cat in his arm and run. At this point, he could sense the little cat was so tense and felt his heart ache.
He never wanted to put this little cat into danger like this.
Damn it!
They had to hurry.
After an unknown amount of time, they finally reached a metal wall and at this point, Kate was already thoroughly exhausted. She could barely keep her eyes open and felt that her body was so heavy.
“Little Kitty?” Kyle called when he saw Kate was laying weakly on his arm.
“Jake, hurry and open the door for us!”
“Wait!” Jake’s hand was holding the metal wall in front of him and his expression changed slightly. The metal in front of him was reinforced so strongly that he found it difficult to control them to make way for them to enter.
Behind them, there was rumbling sound and then giant mutated ants began to appear.
“Let me.” Dylan raised his hand and water blades appeared in the air, heading towards these giant mutated ants and cut them off before they could even get close. With him being rank 4, it was clear that he was able to deal with these ants faster.
Kyle looked at the giant mutated ants with his cold eyes and lightning shot out. These giant mutated ants were all electrocuted to death along with their friends that were in contact with them.
Seeing these giant mutated ants that were charred, Lotte gulped down.
She could sense that Kyle was angry.
“Ah! I can only make a hole that’s only enough for us to crawl in.” Jake howled in agony. He felt that whoever made this thing was surely a genius and a pervert. To make this wall so strong like this that it was almost impregnatable, he felt like he had to exert his ability to the fullest.
“Crawl in! Jake, you’re first.”
“Ok.”
Jake quickly entered the base and looked around the room. He was relieved when he saw that this was an empty locked room. The room was not that big, but at the very least, there was no giant mutated ants around.
After that, Lotte followed and entered the room. Kyle and Kate next and lastly Dylan.
After they all had come in, Jake repaired the metal wall at the fastest speed possible while Kyle set these giant mutated ants in fire before they could even approach the wall.
