Ruan Xia got her luggage from Assistant Chen, very quickly found her room, and swiped her key card to enter it.
They were staying at a five star hotel, and it had been renovated two years ago. And so, all the facilities were new. Her room was somewhere between 300 to 400 square feet. It had everything she could possibly need.
She didn’t go over to see that father and son pair. After putting away her luggage, she lied down on the bed. When she turned her head, she was able to see the scenery outside the floor-to-ceiling windows.
The view was great. It would probably look even better at night.
She had come to City A before, but this time she wasn’t coming here for vacation. She was here to do good by saving a life.
She had rushed to City A because according to the novel’s timeline, Mr. Song was only two days away from death.
In the novel, the chubby kid would get a fever. Their housekeeper wasn’t able to get in contact with the novel’s Ruan Xia, so her only choice was to call Mr. Song. Originally, Mr. Song was going to take a flight back the next morning, but he had his assistant change it to a late night flight. Midsummer weather was unpredictable, and it rained heavily that night. On the way to the airport, his car collided with a truck. Mr. Song and his assistant immediately died in the car crash.
Actually, according to the plot, it was very likely that he wouldn’t get into a car accident as long as he didn’t go back early. There was no need for Ruan Xia to come to City A. However, when Ruan Xia read the novel, she felt that Mr. Song had died under suspicious circumstances. She thought that the strangeness after his death was the author foreshadowing. But, when she finished reading the novel, the author never bothered addressing this issue.
A woman’s intuition was very accurate.
Although Mr. Song had died, why was his company so fragile? How could the company’s condition be so fragile that in half a year, it went bankrupt, and his widow and child were left with only two houses and a car?
There was no one who would find this believable. This was totally against even bacic logic.
And so, with an attitude that it’s better to believe that the worst would happen and be pleasantly surprised than the inverse, Ruan Xia came to City A.
However, a new thought suddenly occurred to her. If there really was a trap waiting for Song Tingshen, would her actions cause a butterfly effect? Had she brought the kid and herself towards impending death?
Thinking of this, Ruan Xia was wracked with an awful feeling.

In the neighboring room, Song Tingshen fully displayed his abilities as a father that had experience taking care of his son since his son was a baby. After washing the chubby kid’s hands, he adeptly washed his son’s face as well.
However, the chubby kid’s heart wasn’t in the room. He asked, “Where’s mom?”
Song Tingshen paused before answering, “She’s next door.”
“Oh. Dad, I slept with mom yesterday.” The chubby kid’s face showed hesitation. “I want to sleep with mom today too. Can you ask mom for me?”
Song Tingshen looked at his son before simply picking him and placing him on the bed. He asked, “Weren’t you with your grandparents? Did mom go pick you up from there?”
The chubby kid nodded. “Yup, mom picked me up yesterday.”
“Before yesterday, you were with your grandparents, right? What about the days before yesterday? Did your mom go over there to see you?”
A young child’s brain capacity was only so big. How could he remember this? He could only shake his head. “I don’t remember.”
