Chapter 20 Renting The Penthouse, New Mission
Chapter 20 Renting The Penthouse, New Mission
?"Whoa..." Chris breathed an impressed sigh as the cold comforting breeze embraced his body aswell...
"Fabulous, isn't it?" Gerald smiled and looked at Chris.
"Indeed. After checking the whole apartment I think there is no longer a need of checking any other property, let's get to business." Chris also nodded and peeled his eyes away from the enchanting and breathtaking scenery.
"Straightforward, I like that," Gerald chuckled and moved to sit on the comfortable, plush sofa.
"So, you want to rent the apartment, right?" Gerald questioned.
"Yes." Chris nodded slightly.
"Good, the rent will be about 4,500$ per month, I don't think that's high for such a wonderful apartment." Gerald ran some math on his calculator and gave the price.
"4,500$? How so?" Chris tilted his head and added, "I checked the price to be 3,900$ on the website."
"That was exclusive of the taxes, sir." Gerald clarified calmly, not exhibiting any signs of lies or deceit.
"Hmm, do I look that gullible, Mr. Gerald?" Chris smiled at Gerald, making him sweat nervously, "All the taxes except brokerage charges were included in the price already."
"Even with Mr. Gerald's premium brokerage cost, I doubt this apartment will cost more than 4,000$ per month." Chris calculated with a sarcastic smile on his face.
"Haha haha..." Gerald laughed dryly with drops of sweat on his forehead, "You are right young master Christopher, this was just a small test to complete the transfer process."
"Hmm~ Since it was a test and I passed successfully, shouldn't there be some sort of reward for passing it??" Chris asked innocently, looking at Gerald like a little child asking for candy from an elder.
"...Scamming the scammer, huh?" Gerald sighed seeing Chris subtly ask for compensation to keep quiet about this scam.
"Haha, I would like to call it Tit for Tat." Chris chuckled and formed a shrug with his arms.
"Sigh, how does a wine cabinet full of costly and fine wine sound?" Gerald drooped his head in dismay and offered.
"Why does it feel like even after doing this, you will suffer no losses?" Chris gave a weird look and asked, a wine cabinet should at least hurt Gerald a little... right?
"You are imagining it, I am heartbroken." Gerald sighed again, actually, Chris wasn't imagining it, the loss of the wine cabinet wouldn't be disadvantageous for Gerald!
That's because the wine cabinet that Gerald was gifting was actually already the property of this apartment! Though Gerald had already sneaked out the cabinet for himself before putting the penthouse on rent.
Well, Gerald didn't become a top broker just by something as fickle as luck. His shrewd nature and his greed for money was the only thing that allowed him to climb higher in the hierarchy!
"You are really a young master, huh?" Gerald chuckled slightly while pulling out some documents Chris needs to sign for completing the process.
"You were doubting me?" Chris asked lightly, but his light voice was slowly gaining confidence in it, confidence that was only found in the people that stand at the top.
"I wouldn't dare to," Gerald smiled nervously and gestured to Chris to finish the process and be done with it already!
"So, I need to transfer the rent of 1st month and 2nd month at once as a down payment?" Chris asked in order to confirm himself.
"Yes, a total of 8,000$" Gerald nodded.

"Done, glad to do business with you." Chris smiled and offered a handshake.
"No no, the pleasure is mine, literally," Gerald gave a short laugh and shook Chris's hand, "If you ever need my help, please feel free to call me."
"Will do." Chris walked Gerald to the door and then after Gerald left, he closed the door.
"Sigh~ That was so nerve-racking," Chris breathed a sigh of relief and went back to his casual and easy-going Chris mode.
'Hmm, my mission should be completed, right?' Chris thought about his living standard mission and brought up the system panel.

'Wtf! A gun?!' Chris read the details of the new mission and exclaimed, as a regular normal citizen, directly getting a gun was quite a big jump for Chris's brain to take lightly.
Of course, the system didn't specify that he needs a gun, but in this age, what other object can be considered as a nice 'weapon'?
Even Sharky had a gun with him when he came to beat Chris up.
Getting a regular handgun was actually not a big deal and one just required some money and black-market connections to get it!
'I... will buy it," Chris closed his eyes and steeled his resolve, his reason was simple, to protect his family, and never fall into such a position where he might feel powerless again.
"How to buy... Sharky?" Chris mumbled thinking of people he knew that had few connections with the underworld,
"MAXIMUS!" well, Max wasn't really connected to the underworld.
But, being a son of the Mayor, it was obvious that he had few connections here and there.
"I will call him later," Chris checked the time on the wall clock and remembered the date he had a few hours later.
'Shit...' Chris took out his phone and froze when he saw that he had two unread messages that had been there for quite a long while!
// Aria - Hello, Good Morning! 5hours ago //
// Max - Ayy, Bud! How's the preparation for the date going?? 2hours ago//
// You to Aria - Hello, good afternoon, Aria. I am really sorry for this late reply. I was a little busy shifting my apartment, but, I promise I will make it up to you later. //
Chris hurriedly replied to Aria after seeing he had kept her on unread for more than 5 hours, to some it may seem like it was just a few hours, but, the girls are well-known to be emotional creatures and who knows when they might get turned off.
This was a risk Chris cannot take, no matter what.
// You to Max - Yeah, the preparations are going well and I am soon going to book the restaurant you suggested.
Thanks once again for all the tips, I will give you the good news tomorrow.
P.S. Don't get your expectations up. //
Chris replied to Max aswell and sighed in relief... He was just relaxing but suddenly his cell phone rang,
// Incoming Call - Aria //
