Chapter 81 Overprotective Brother
"Oh hello, you are that guy who was with us in the beach." Taylor noticed Chris swapping his card on the machine and muttered casually while Alia was choosing another premium piece from the shop.
"Christopher, my name is Christopher. Friends can call me Chris though, and yes, we did meet on the beach."
"Christopher, nice name." Taylor nodded calmly.
"Thank you, Taylor is a great name as well." Chris smiled and waited a few moments for a reply, but not getting any, "Now then, we will get going. We have a show to catch."
"Show? Movie? My company owns this theater here, I can get you guys the sky box if you want." Taylor shrugged casually.
"Maybe some other time, we already booked recliners today. Thank you." Chris faked a smile.
"I see. Suit yourself." once again, contrary to any mockery like Chris expected, Taylor shrugged without a care.
'Did I get a wrong impression of him indeed?' a thought popped in Chris's mind as they all kept walking forward.
"Brother, what is a sky box?" Cassie asked curiously.
"Oh, it is basically the top seat of the theater, it got sofas as well as a private room for viewers. It is more famous among couples though." Chris explained in simpler terms.
"Ohh, brother should bring big sis Aria to one then, hehe." Cassie giggled playfully.
"You little brat! Dare to tease me?"
"Ow ow, sorry!"
…
Soon, Chris and the rest entered the theater. According to the receptionist, their movie will be played in the hall number 2 and their seats were the recliners on A row.
It was quite obvious that the movie Chris had picked was currently very trending as many families, friends, couples and singles stood in the hall. Waiting for the previous movie to finish and hall to empty.
"Brother, you know, one of my friend in school also said this movie is very good! Her father had watched this movie even before it started airing!" Cassie informed excitedly while chomping on some popcorns.
"Is that so? He must be a famous person then." Chris smiled.
"Ugh, why are these guys so noisy!" Cathy complained sitting on the sofa
"Since when did you become a misanthropic bitch?" Max scoffed listening to Cathy's words.
"Ever since you became an incel." Cathy shot back without a care as she sipped her coke.
Hearing that, Max froze in shock, blinking with a bewildered look in his eyes. Never he once expected that Cathy would be that merciless with her words.
A roar of whispers and Snickers rose in the room, some people mocking Max relentlessly while some hooting "Damn" and "Savage" to Cathy.
Still, Cathy ignored them all and kept sitting there calmly like a block of ice.
"Brother… sis seems to be in a very bad mood." Cassie whispered softly after witnessing Cathy's behaviour.
"I can see that too," Chris nodded to the words blankly.
"What? What are you two whispering about? And when is this movie going to start, ugh." Cathy glared at Chris and Cassie.
"Geez calm down, angry bird. The current one should be finishing by now, then they will clean, and then we can go in. So about 5 minutes." Chris answered back.
"Ugh, so boring. I shouldn't have agreed to the outing. The bed was much more comfy and better." Cathy whined while glaring at Chris.
"Oh beauty, I can take you to the bed if you want, what do you say?" a random guy who was sitting on the couch next to Chris suddenly intervened, staring at Cathy obscenely.
"What di-" Cathy suddenly glared at that guy, however Chris beaten her in that.
"I can take you to the coffin if you want. What do you say?" Chris hissed hatefully, his hands grabbing the collar of that flirty pig.
That guy tried to retort, however he found himself trapped in a strong grip while Chris's aura pressed upon him. Just by a single eye contact, he knew that he was no match for this overprotective brother of Cathy.
"C-Chill buddy, I was joking…" he quickly withdrew, faced by a rough grip and pressure of a B-Grade awakened, he didn't mess around.
"Stay in your limits." Chris shoved that guy away, throwing him down from his seat as the guy quickly scrammed away.
Another round of hoots lingered in the air as the flirty pig disappeared within the crowd, never to be found again.
Chris didn't expect that even the above average gentry of people visiting the Phoenix Citadel would hoot and cheer like slum riffraffs.
Alas, he seemed to have developed a bit of a stereotypical outline of the rich, an outline that was slowly breaking apart.
"That's why I didn't want to come out of the house. Let's just go back Chris, I am not in the mood to watch anymore." Cathy looked at the scramming flirty pig and sighed deeply.
"Why? Because of that bastard?" Chris looked at her, "Cath, he isn't the only one you will find like that. The world is filled with junk and trash, with few gold and jewels like us hidden around. You can't avoid every single one of them, you know."
"I can avoid them."
"How? Hiding away in your little room? Or maybe just cutting ties from every person you know?"
"Why not? Ties are meaningless. Everyone will betray one day or the other. What is the point of trusting? But now don't start about the bond between us three. We are blood bonds, blood isn't easy to betray."
"..." Chris looked at her in shock, "Cath, I admit that there are many swindlers, bastards and treacherous snakes out there. But, that doesn't mean you should distrust all the other people on the basis of that."
"I… It's better to be safe and alert." Cathy averted her eyes, "You were the one who once said, 'Precaution is better than the cure'."
"Don't mold my words to suit your needs. I did say that, however I didn't imply to become misanthropic a shut-in NEET!"
"Hey! I like company of myself, but I am not a NEET! I am even taking the audition!"
"Yeah yeah, sure." Chris yawned and ignored Cathy's words, looking back to the door of the movie hall.
'Ugh, how long. This is getting irritating.' Chris gritted his teeths and looked at the crowd that was standing in the hall alongside Chris and the rest.
And the main reason he was getting irritated was because… OF THE STARES!
Daily dose of Charm pill sure works wonders as the whole Swarts family currently looked like a family of world class idols. Their skins were smooth and spotless, as white as milk while their elegant dressing topped their charisma by many folds.
Chris himself sure liked attention, he loved it when a girl would look at him with fawning eyes, murmuring among themselves how they wished that Chris was their boyfriend.
However, he didn't like it one bit when it happened with his dear twin sister! He was B-Grade awakened, implying his hearing was much better than the others.
Yet, he wished he could need this power just for one single day. As an overprotective and loving brother, he absolutely hated how some of the males around Cathy eyed her with their lust dripping.
Some of them were whispering among themselves, how they would love to have Cathy for a night and such obscene things. Chris was tempted to get up and beat them all to pulp.
Alas, he couldn't. Because, first, he wanted to keep it secret that he is a B-Grade awakened instead of C-Grade. And second, there was a high probability that they will get thrown out of the theater and get fined with heavy charges for suddenly beating up people in a public space. That too with zero evidence.
So all Chris could do was ignore the talks and keep his mind clear. Of course, if any of them even dared to talk to Cathy, they would regret it.
"Chris, my coke is finished. Get me more." Cathy tossed her can of coke in the dustbin and looked at Chris.
"That was to drink while watching movie, Cath…" Chris gave her a blank look.
"Ah… we were allowed to eat popcorn though, right?" Cassie who was sitting beside him gave a cheeky smile and showed the empty popcorn tub.
"Ugh, you two… fine, I will get more. Max take care of these two please." Chris sighed and got up from the sofa, looking at his two playful sisters, "Don't stir any troubles…" he murmured and left…
