“I already booked the tickets. I am taking off after lunch.”

Ah Chi went quiet for a while before he finally begrudgingly said, “Alright.”

Yu Duo gave him a bright smile and said, “Let’s eat.”

Everybody picked up their bowls and chopsticks again.

Naturally, Yu Duo still didn’t have a very good appetite and only had a few mouthfuls of food.

Ah Chi went upstairs, carried her suitcase down, and said he was going to take her to the airport.

With Ah Chi carrying her suitcase, Yu Duo looked back and Aunty Lian and said, “I am leaving now Aunty Lian.”

With a nostalgic look, Aunty Lian watched Yu Duo and Ah Chi climbed into the car together.

The mansion in Fushui Bay was remotely located and away from the city. The air quality was better, and its best feature was the quiet surrounding.

The airport was also remotely located, but in the exact opposite direction as Fushui Bay. The minimal travel time to the airport was 2 hours.

Ah Chi kept looking at Yu Duo from the rearview mirror as he drove. The idea that she was travelling alone still did not sit well with him. He was still trying to convince her otherwise, “Sister-in-law, I am still very concerned about this. Why don’t you just take someone with you?”

Yu Duo smiled, “There is nothing to be concerned about. I just wanted to travel for a little bit. I am a grown woman and can take care of myself.”

Noticing that Ah Chi wasn’t going to give up just yet, she quickly added before he could start, “Do you know? When your big brother said he’d travel the world with me, I started waiting for him. And I waited and I waited, and then....” She smiled a bitter smile and shook her head, “Ah Chi, one can never anticipate what tomorrow will bring. That’s why I want to take this trip. It will be like your big brother is still with me.”

Fu Sinian, sitting next to her, turned and gave her a deep, long look.

Ah Chi said in a low voice, “I swore in front of Big Brother’s grave that I will protect you. I failed to protect Big Brother, I can’t let anything happen to you too.”

“What could possibly happen to me? Don’t worry. It will be fine.”

As Yu Duo was very insistent about it, Ah Chi had no choice but to give in.

Two hours later, they arrived at the airport.

Ah Chi took her luggage to check in, then brought the tickets back to Yu Duo and said, “Sister-in-law, remember what you have promised. If anything happens, you will call me!”

“Yes, I will. You still have work to do. Now, go.”

Ah Chi was still worried. He looked back every few steps on his way out of the airport.

Yu Duo could finally let out a sigh of relief after Ah Chi had disappeared completely from the airport lobby. She went through security and into the VIP lounge.

There were barely a few people in the VIP lounge . Those people were quietly reading a book or newspaper or using their cell phones or laptops. Yu Duo found a quiet spot and sat down. She looked at the time. In less than half an hour, she could board the plane that’d take her to Paris for her shopping spree.

Just thinking about it made her blood boil.

Fu Sinian sat next to her. He watched her excited smile with his arms crossed, his teeth gritted, and his facial muscles completely tensed.

Waited in line, boarded the plane, deboarded the plane, Yu Duo finally stood in the lobby of Charles de Gaulle International Airport. She looked at all sorts of people walking in front of her, listening to the foreign language and looking at the foreign words. She finally felt that she had truly landed in a foreign country – Paris, the capital of France.

Nobody knew who she was here. She no longer needed to pretend that she was a helpless little woman. She could go shop to her heart’s content and check in at all the tourist spots!
