Chapter 138 - Disappearance
Chapter 138 - Disappearance
Just as An Luxia left the house, she received a call from Yu Xinyi. She sighed and picked it up, "What is it now?"
There was a pause and then Yu Xinyi screamed, "An! Lu! Xia! You will never guess what just happened!"
An Luxia put the phone a distance away from her ear because of the loudness, and the next second, she heard a deep chuckle that sounded weirdly familiar. . .
Was that her brother?!
"Yu Xinyi, why are you with my brother?!" She immediately interrogated, stopping in her tracks and looking at the driver to signal for him to wait.
There was another pause, "How did you know?"
"I heard him laugh," An Luxia said with a sigh. Just a moment ago, her friend was all sad about being rejected, so what had happened now?
Yu Xinyi frowned and then quickly shrugged, "Anyways, that isn't important right now. So, apparently, your brother did not want me to be the one to confess so he rejected me and then confessed to me again and now we are together!"
". . ." An Luxia's brain powered off for the nth time today as she tried to process the information. What?! Her brother is with Yu Xinyi now?! They were joking, right? What type of madness was this?!
"An Yuchen, is she saying the truth?!"
An Yuchen took the phone from Yu Xinyi, "Yes, it is. I'm sorry for not telling you about it earlier, but I know I really l -"
"Yes, you should be sorry!" An Luxia immediately said, swinging her handbag to the back of her shoulder, "You should have told me so I could have planned it with you together?! It would have been much more romantic?! How could you not tell your little sister about this first!"
An Yuchen sighed as he nodded, "Okay, okay. It was my fault, I'm sorry. I will definitely tell you first before the marriage proposal."
Hearing this, Yu Xinyi's face turned red as a tomato as she looked away, pretending as if she didn't hear. An Luxia smiled when she heard this, not really surprised.
She had always had a feeling that her brother had more feelings than just sisterly love to Yu Xinyi. Or else, she wouldn't encourage Yu Xinyi in her one-sided love either. She did not want her friend to get hurt.
"Okay, okay, you have to tell me about the details later. I have to go." An Luxia looked at the time and realized she was almost late, so she got into the car and hung up the phone.
She told the driver the address to the coffee shop and then said, "You don't have to come pick me up later, because I don't know how long it will take. I can take a taxi home."
The driver nodded and started the car.
She hummed the entire way to the coffee shop, and when she arrived, she immediately noticed Shen Liya sitting at the corner of the shop.
She waved at her when she arrived, and An Luxia sat down, seeing the cup of coffee on the table already, "Hi! Oh, you ordered for me already!"
Shen Liya nodded, "Yes. I didn't know what you liked so I ordered a latte for you as well."
An Luxia looked at it and pressed her lips together slightly, "Ah, I'm sorry, but I don't drink coffee. Here, you can have this. I'll go order another smoothie quickly."
She pushed the cup over to Shen Liya and she walked up to place another order. Shen Liya raised one eyebrow as she watched her, and she frowned as she wondered how she could have forgotten!
An Luxia came back a moment later with a smoothie and they began working.
"What have you been doing during summer break?" An Luxia asked, taking a sip of the sweet smoothie and she smiled, as it had been a good day, especially after what had happened.
"Nothing much! I found a job and I have been working in a restaurant. What about you? Have you been doing anything?"
An Luxia shrugged, "Nothing much! Summer break is fun but it gets boring because there is nothing much to do."
Shen Liya laughed, "Oh, it isn't boring for me. There is quite a lot for me to do."
An Luxia raised one eyebrow and they talked a while more before they started doing work, as they had one class together and there was a lot of summer homework. After over an hour, they had finally finished.
The cups were all empty as An Luxia stood up, grabbing her bag. She looked out the window and saw that the sun was disappearing behind the mountains already, and before long, the world would be completely dark, "I should go back. It's getting late."
Shen Liya nodded and looked outside as well, "Yes, I'll go with you."
Shen Liya stood up and pushed her chair in, creating a loud creaking sound. The owner looked their way as they were the last people in the shop and said goodbye to them.
They walked outside and at this time, it was hard to get a taxi, so it took a long time before they finally were able to stop one. An Luxia got into the back seat and kept the door open, "Liya, do you want to come in as well? It is hard to get a taxi at this time."
Shen Liya looked at her watch and then smiled, "Thank you."
She got into the car, exchanging a look with the taxi driver as she closed the door and told him her address. It was in the same direction as Mo Han's place so An Luxia waited to tell the driver her address later.
It was getting dark outside and An Luxia pulled out her phone, scrolling through the recent news. She suddenly stopped when she came across a headline that caught her eye, because it wrote:
'Breaking News: Qin Hui and Lu Ming Reported to be Dating!'
Qin Hui and Lu Ming?! Those names definitely ring a bell in An Luxia's head. Was it because of the drama they acted in together? An Luxia had noticed something between them when they had been filming, so it was indeed true!
She could guess that it was Lu Ming who chased Qin Hui! As they had driven in silence, An Luxia turned to Shen Liya to strike a conversation with this news, but just as she looked over, she felt a sharp pain on her back and the next second, the world blacked out.
--- An hour later
Mo Han walked around the room impatiently on a call, "Did you find her yet? Is she still there?"
K replied from the other end, "No, we searched the coffee shop already and asked the owner. She is not here anymore and according to the security camera, she left an hour ago."
Mo Han frowned as his expression darkened, and he kicked the door open as he walked out of his office to go look for her himself, "Are there any clues?"
"From the security camera inside, you can see that she left with the girl she went with, Shen Liya. Afterward, there was another security camera outside and they got into the same taxi together. However, Mrs. Mo got into the taxi first and offered to bring Shen Liya home as well, which is why they got on together."
"Look for where that Shen girl is right now," Mo Han ordered as he grabbed his coat and stepped out of the house.
"Yes, sir!"
Mo Han got into the car, driving himself as he pressed down aggressively on the gas pedal and drove down the mountain at a dangerous speed. After a while, he arrived at the coffee shop, which was empty except for the owner and his people.
His people had pushed everyone out and no one dared to stay after looking at those people. The owner stared at them nervously, his arm shaking as he did not know what was happening.
"Where is she?"
K stood up, looking down at the ground, "The girl is gone too."
Mo Han slammed his fist onto the table, having a basic guess of what had happened. After everything that he knew about, he could guess what had. . .
At this moment, Mo Han's phone suddenly rang and he reached into his pocket, his stomach sinking when he saw the number on the screen.
It was an unknown number, and that was exactly what he was afraid of. It was an unknown number. He sighed and straightened his face as he took the call, waiting for the other end to speak first.
Indeed, the other end did and he immediately recognized the person's voice.
It was a deep and slightly raspy man's voice, and it was all too familiar because it sounded kind of similar to Mo Han's voice.
"My son, are you worried right now?" The man paused, expecting an answer but not receiving one, so he chuckled, "You do not have to worry. I only wanted to meet her."
