After making his purchases in the shops, Milton Cheney did not choose to stay long in Collins City.

After all, this city was the territory of the Nature Church and was near the Collins Mining Area.

Once Jacob’s body was discovered, the first person to be suspected would be him, the one who impersonated Jacob.

Although Milton Cheney believed he had done a good job concealing the body, there was always a possibility that he had left some evidence behind.

Any ordinary person might not be able to track him down solely based on a body, but the person in charge of the Southern Mining Area was a Level 2

Wizard Apprentice after all; who knew if there were some methods unknown to Milton Cheney.

So, for the sake of his safety, Milton Cheney did not choose to stay in Collins City.

Instead, he chose to join a merchant convoy going to Golden Chalice City and after paying a reward of two magic stones, the convoy was happy to take

It was several days later when Milton Cheney arrived at Golden Chalice City.

Golden Chalice City was closer to the middle region of the Southern Continent.

The city was quite prosperous, with many small wizard organizations and wizard academies situated within.

Milton Cheney found an inn in the city to stay for the time being.

Although the continent Violet was not entirely alien to Milton Cheney, he couldn’t be more unfamiliar with Golden Chalice City.

He planned to spend the next few days getting to know the distribution of power in Golden Chalice City before making further plans.

This was no longer the subcontinent they were on previously and Grand Knights, were not considered the strongest in here.

There were several people here stronger than a Grand Knight.

So, Milton Cheney had to be cautious in every step he took, striving for stability and persistence.

At least until he was familiar with the city, Milton Cheney would not interact with anyone else.

Fortunately, his new simulation counts would arrive in a few days, and this simulation that was opened directly on the Wizard Continent might bring him considerable gains.

One had to admit that Milton Cheney’s worry was not without reason, because just over ten days after he left…

Collins Mine, Southern Mining Area.

“Lord, all of the mica ores from this batch have been delivered to the organization. The number of ores mined this quarter has increased significantly compared to the previous one,” said Malik sycophantically while handing over the registration form in his hand to the man in the white robe in front of him.

The man in the white robe, a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice by the name of Eka, took the form, glanced over it, and nodded.

Malik could not possibly falsify the quantity of ores, so Eka just casually inspected it.

After the inspection, Eka didn’t speak. He signaled for Malik to follow him.

Next, he needed to patrol the entire Southern Mining Area.

The wizard apprentices in charge of the mining area needed to make routine checks every quarter, but for Eka, this was just a formality.

After all, not many people would dare to cause trouble in the Collins Mining Area, knowing it was the territory of the Nature Church.

At the moment, he just wanted to make a perfunctory patrol and leave this place.

He felt that even the air here was dirty.

As a ‘genius’ with level 2 magic aptitude, coming here was absolutely a waste of his precious meditation time.

After passing through various mine caves, Eka did not stop.

Malik was closely following behind Eka.

“Huh!”

Finally, when passing by an abandoned mine cave, Eka stopped and let out a soft sound of surprise.

“Is this cave still being mined?”

Eka asked softly, the first words he had spoken since his arrival.

Malik quickly shifted his gaze to the cave that Eka was pointing at.

After taking a glance, he shook his head and said, “Lord, this is an abandoned mine; currently, no one is mining here.”

“An abandoned mine?”

Eka let out a soft chuckle, and motioned for Malik to follow him as he stepped into the abandoned mine.

Although curious, Malik remained silent and followed behind Eka.

Upon entering the abandoned mine, Aika slightly furrowed her eyebrows, covering her mouth and nose.

[Zero Ring Magic.Cleaning]

A Cleaning spell was cast by Aika, and the dust in the mine disappeared instantly, making it quite clean.

Malik had seen a wizard’s tricks before, so he wasn’t surprised by this.

“Move these stones,”

Upon reaching the depths of this abandoned mine, Aika stopped and spoke.

There were only two of them here; Malik obviously knew the instructions were for him.

Without hesitating, an enveloping white airflow covered his two arms, and he moved the enormous stones as if they were mere foam.

Before he even finished moving all the stones, Malik smelled something metallic.

His face changed slightly, and he picked up his pace. In no time, all of the large stones had been moved.

“This… A corpse?”

Malik muttered under his breath, his voice trembling slightly, cold sweat appearing on his forehead.

The identities of all the mine workers and supervisors were logged in his records. It was impossible for a corpse to mysteriously appear.

He was the only one responsible for these records in the entire Southern Mining Area.

Many wizard apprentices disdain this somewhat important job, and official knights aren’t qualified, so the job naturally fell to him, the Grand Knight. He was certain everything he logged was accurate, and he had just shown Aika.

However, the sight in front of him made him doubt himself.

This was definitely an extra body, it seemed to have appeared out of thin air.

Malik moved the body to lay it flat on the ground, evaluating the face of the corpse.

Then, he realized the corpse’s face was so mangled that he couldn’t make out any identifiable features.

“Explain this.”

Aika spoke softly, seemingly emotionless.

However, Malik understood this was how Aika expressed her anger, as he had delayed her precious time.

Malik’s mind was spinning, trying to come up with a viable explanation, but the more he tried, the more he couldn’t.

Seeing Malik silent, Aika shifted her gaze to the body lying on the ground in front of him.

Just then, Malik suddenly remembered something and exclaimed. “I remember now, but how could he possibly have died here!”

Although the corpse’s features were mangled, Malik still had a feeling of familiarity.

An unexpected sudden flash of memory made him recognize this person.

“You know this person?”

“This person seems to be a peripheral member of the organization, a former overseer of the mining area. But he said he wasn’t feeling well a few days ago and left the mining area. Jacob, yes, his name is Jacob!”

After contemplating for a moment, Malik answered with certainty.

He was the one who logged him in, only a few days ago, so Malik obviously remembered him.

However, what baffled Malik was that he distinctly saw Jacob leave. Why would he end up dead in an abandoned mine?

“Could someone have imDersonated him?”

Aika spoke. She usually didn’t stay in the mining area, so she wasn’t very familiar with how detailed the registration of the mining workers and supervisors was.

But it was her words that shattered Malik’s line of thought.

Impersonated by someone else?

Malik once again carefully examined the mangled corpse in front of him.

And came to a conclusion.

“The Jacob who left the mine was fake!”
