Luo Ziling was more interested in learning how to use his phone than chatting with others, even if it was with a beautiful lady.

Anonymity was both a blessing and a curse. On the Internet, no one could truly validate their identity. Someone could be the president, a famous actress, a serial stalker, or perhaps even a dog.

That was something that Luo Ziling had learned from watching the news. So, even when the person he was chatting with sent over a picture, ‘revealing’ herself as a beautiful woman, it did nothing to arouse his attention.

While he was tapping away on WeChat, his roommates returned with his dinner. He immediately dropped the conversation to grab a quick bite.

“Boss, is everything done?” asked Cao Jianhui. He sat next to Luo Ziling, watching him devouring the boxed meal like a hungry wolf. “What did you do exactly?”

“Something very important,” said Luo Ziling.

He could never tell anyone that he had called off an engagement. He simply replied vaguely, “It’s over and done with. I can finally stay on campus with no trouble.”

“By the way, we start our military training tomorrow. Shall we go out for some last minute fun? How about karaoke?” suggested Cao Jianhui.

Standing up, he enthusiastically bellowed to the other roommates, “Brothers! Let’s sing our lungs out! I’ll treat us all! How about it? School hasn’t started yet! We might as well enjoy whatever free time we have before it’s too late!”

Li Fuming and Wu Longjiang jumped up in excitement, expressing their jubilance about the idea. Luo Ziling on the other hand, wasn’t too happy.

“Come on! Let’s go together!” Cao Jianhui locked arms with Luo Ziling and pulled him off his seat. “If you don’t, you won’t be giving me face!”

Luo Ziling was left with no choice.

Once they left the dormitory complex, Cao Jianhui asked, “Boss, why didn’t you want to come with us?”

He was not satisfied with Luo Ziling’s previous response to his karaoke suggestion.

“What’s wrong? Tell me. I wanted to treat you to a meal and you rejected my offer. Now, I want to pay for a karaoke session and you don’t want to go. Are you seriously not giving me any face here?”

“I couldn’t join you for a meal because of the important matter I had to settle,” said Luo Ziling immediately. “And I didn’t want to sing because I can’t sing. In fact, I have never sang in a karaoke room before. I’m afraid of ruining the night for you guys.”

“Bah! What is that?” barked Cao Jianhui.

He was incredibly relieved after hearing Luo Ziling’s explanation. He put on a smug look and patted Luo Ziling’s shoulder. “It’s just singing amongst bros! It’s just us. There won’t be any girls there. Even if you sing like a duck, no one will say anything! Isn’t that right guys?”

Wu Longjiang and Li Fuming nodded as they hummed loudly in agreement. Luo Ziling had nothing else to say then. Internally, he made a choice to just sit there and listen instead of picking up the mic.

The entire group proceeded as planned. Everyone except Luo Ziling was in rather high spirits. As they made their way to the nearest karaoke center, they started to talk about interesting things about their campus. The topic quickly drifted to beautiful chicks, particularly focused on the girls from their previous school, as well as their fellow first-year students.

It was odd. Cao Jianhui was oddly well-informed on all the hot gossip about Yenching University’s beautiful girls, and could weave epic tales about them. He even knew about other beautiful first-year students.

“Did you know? According to the general consensus, Yang Qinglin, a second-year student from last year’s intake, is the most beautiful student in Yenching University,” said Cao Jianhui, with a mysterious look on his face.

“Not only is she beautiful, she’s also a jill-of-all-trades, a master-of-all even! She’s skilled in art, piano, and chess, reads extensively, paints beautifully, and even dances well! Many have tried to court her, but none successfully piqued her interest. I think it’s something to do with her family? In any case, no one dares to get close to her.”

Both Wu Longjiang and Li Fuming were greatly interested.

“Second Brother, do you have her picture?” asked Li Fuming, practically drooling. “I’ve heard of her and I know that she’s the belle of the campus. I want to see what she looks like!”

From Cao Jianhui’s description and seeing how excited the other two were, Luo Ziling also grew interested in this beauty queen known as Yang Qingling.

“Wait a bit. I will get a crystal clear picture of her in two days!” said Cao Jianhui, confidently pounding his chest. “I’m even preparing to court her! Mhm mhm mhm… Back in my younger days, I even managed to get the most beautiful girl in my school! You lot will have to help me with this!”

Wu Longjiang and Li Fuming immediately responded to his bragging with insults. They teased that with his pimple-filled face and oversized body, Cao Jianhui had no chance of getting the beautiful girl to even look at him.

It would be like a toad wishing to eat the meat of a swan. He would be humiliating himself by just trying. But Cao Jianhui didn’t give up. In fact, he continued to press forward.

“Woah. There’s a beauty right there!” cried Cao Jianhui.

The four were only just coming out of the campus grounds and Cao Jianhui had been vigilant of his surroundings.

“That girl is hot! Look!”

The others, including Luo Ziling, turned towards the direction Cao Jianhui was pointing at. There was a group of people walking on the other side of the road. A tall lady was amongst them, and she was surrounded by some men, along with a few other ladies.

Luo Ziling narrowed his eyes and focused. The moment he could properly see the beautiful girl Cao Jianhui was pointing at, he froze.

She was beautiful, tall, and because of the men surrounding her, her beauty only stood out more. She was the young lady who had crossed his path a number of times.

During their last encounters, Ouyang Huihui was always sporting a pair of dark sunglasses. The first time they met, she had stayed inside her car the whole time. That was why Cao Jianhui and the two other guys did not recognize her as the girl in the red sports car.

Seeing that Cao Jianhui was about to leave their group to greet her, Luo Ziling immediately held him back. “There’s too many guys there. We will only be causing a ruckus.”

“Sheesh. There are a few important things you need to get a girl. A brave heart, a strategic plan, a thick skin, and… a little something something in your pocket. Now, watch me do my work!” said Cao Jianhui.

Ignoring Luo Ziling’s advice, he walked past him. Smiling, he greeted Ouyang Huihui, “Hello there, beautiful one. I am Cao Jianhui, a new student taking the Clinical Medicine course. May I please have your number?”

No one could deny that Cao Jianhui had the bravery of a thousand men. To walk straight up to a beautiful girl and ask for her phone number was something that Luo Ziling could never do.

Cao Jianhui’s unwarranted approach left Luo Ziling and their other two roommates speechless. The other guys around Ouyang Huihui were also stunned. How was it possible for some guy to walk into a group of guys, ignoring the lot of them, and talk to the girl they were surrounding?

Cao Jianhui’s bravery was truly surprising that even Ouyang Huihui could not react at that moment.

Oyuang Huihui was not in a good mood. What a day she’d had. First, Luo Ziling came to their house and humiliated her sister by calling off their engagement. Then, she herself was humiliated when she tripped, allowing Luo Ziling to touch her chest when he caught her.

And that wasn’t all. She was even barred from driving her sports car and got scolded by her grandfather. She was now forced to stay on campus. The last straw was having all her privileges stripped away. The anger she felt was so intense that she was having murderous thoughts.

Now, her sister might have said something important about Luo Ziling which somewhat calmed her a little, but as her beef with him was still unresolved, the flames of anger were still burning bright in her.

After Luo Ziling left the Ouyang mansion, Ouyang Huihui was kicked out of the house and forced to drive a Mini Cooper to campus. There, the extremely-pissed-off girl met her ex-schoolmate, Le Jiaqing.

They had been classmates during their middle and high school years. However, Ouyang Huihui entered university later, having deferred for a year. Li Jianqing had liked her since middle school. Now that they were reunited at the same campus, in the same faculty even, he was happy with this second chance to start chasing after her.

Li Jiaqing was handsome, with a sweet tongue that knew just what to say to soften a girl’s heart. His own family was above average. All in all, many girls thought of him as their Prince Charming.

Ouyang Huihui did not dislike him at all, and since she was in a bad mood that day and wanted to vent her frustrations, she accepted his invitation. She dragged a few of her roommates along and went out with Li Jiaqing.

The last thing she expected to see was Luo Ziling walking on the other side of the road. The flames of rage in her heart immediately raged stronger.

But, no matter. She had a plan. It came to her once she spotted Luo Ziling looking all embarrassed after Cao Jianhui approached and asked for her contact number.

Quickly turning to Li Jiaqing, she said, “Li Jiaqing, I’m not going to sing anymore. Please go without me. I’m scared of them!”

Now, Li Jiaqing came from a wealthy family and had many connections, both in and out of the university. He was incredibly aggravated when Cao Jianhui suddenly came over and asked for Ouyang Huihui’s phone number.

However, he kept his composure since he would only be degrading himself by acting out. However… when Ouyang Huihui said something like that, all emotion drained from his face…
