Chapter 538: Chapter 538 What to do if you kill someone
On the next morning, Luo Ziling didn’t go for his usual morning exercise; instead, he ran to the rehabilitation center where Li Haiyang was staying.
The rehabilitation center was at most three kilometers away from Yan University, and after a few visits, Luo Ziling roughly knew how to get there.
With Shanque absent and no one notifying him of a replacement to pick him up, Luo Ziling thought it would be a good exercise to run there.
However, before he had arrived, he received a call from an unknown number asking where to meet him.
Luo Ziling directly told the caller that he was almost at the entrance of the rehabilitation center and that they could simply lead him in upon his arrival.
Soon, Luo Ziling met the man who had come to the police station to pick him up the night before.
The man didn’t bother with any pleasantries, and silently led Luo Ziling into the rehabilitation center to the small building where Li Haiyang was staying.
“Senior, I came here by myself today. Someone at the entrance took me in,” Luo Ziling took the initiative to explain the situation, “I also need to treat Fang Dongxun later, and I have things to do in the afternoon, so I came over early.”
Li Haiyang nodded to show he understood and told Luo Ziling to sit down.
“Senior, when I fired the gun yesterday, I only wanted to scare those people because Yang Qingyin was with me, and I was afraid she might get hurt,” Luo Ziling volunteered an explanation for the previous night’s events after sitting down, “But I was still a bit impulsive.”
“Actually, you wanted to make things a bit bigger, right?”
“I guess that’s part of it,” Luo Ziling said with a wry smile, then added, “I also wanted to see what it felt like to shoot someone. After practicing shooting for so long, I wanted to test the effect.”
“Did you ever think about what you would do if you killed someone?”
“Ever since the assassination attempt on the street where I almost got killed, I’ve been thinking that if I were in that situation again, I’d prefer to kill someone and go to jail rather than be killed and lose my life,” Luo Ziling looked unflinchingly at Li Haiyang, “I haven’t seen my mother for so many years, and it wasn’t easy for us to finally meet. I definitely don’t want to die young and leave her in unbearable pain.”
Li Haiyang gazed at Luo Ziling for a while before he eventually smiled, “Alright, let’s not talk about this anymore; it’s all in the past. Remember, don’t pull out a gun unless it’s absolutely necessary. Once you have a gun, the nature of things changes completely.”
“I understand,” Luo Ziling quickly agreed, “From now on, unless it’s absolutely necessary, I won’t shoot.”
“There have been many incidents recently, and there are still many people who don’t want to see you stay in the capital. You need to be cautious,” Li Haiyang said and then gestured for Luo Ziling to help him lie down, “Treat me now!”
Luo Ziling was a bit surprised that after such a significant event the previous night, Li Haiyang only had a few words to say and didn’t blame him too much. Perhaps, Li Haiyang knew who was involved and was angry at the perpetrator, so he didn’t interfere too much.
He may even have hoped that Luo Ziling would stir things up a bit.
With these thoughts in mind, Luo Ziling felt more gratitude toward Li Haiyang, which led him to put even more effort into the treatment.
When Luo Ziling first started treating Li Haiyang, he often felt debilitated.
But now, he no longer experienced this issue.
Mainly because he had learned to ration his physical strength wisely, and coupled with experience in needle technique, the energy consumed was roughly only half of what it used to be.
By the time the treatment was over and Li Haiyang had fallen into a heavy sleep, Luo Ziling was still able to retain a certain level of strength.
Luo Ziling didn’t stay long, allowing the man with the very cold expression, whose name he didn’t know, to escort him out of the sanatorium.
After leaving the sanatorium, Luo Ziling went straight to the 402 Hospital without notifying anyone.
He took the subway and then a taxi, spending nearly an hour to finally reach the 402 Hospital.
Upon his arrival at the hospital, he received a call from Fang Qianqian, asking where he was and saying she would come pick him up.
Luo Ziling declined directly, saying he was already at the hospital.
This surprised Fang Qianqian, who hurried over to the hospital.
Luo Ziling didn’t pay much attention to this and went straight into the ward to start treating Fang Dongxun.
“Luo Ziling, do you believe that I planned the attack you encountered last night?” Fang Dongxun asked Luo Ziling as he entered the ward. “I’ve heard the rumors outside; many people say it was my revenge plot.”
“It could be anyone,” Luo Ziling didn’t deny it but spoke profoundly, “However, I hope I won’t have to face a situation where kindness is met with ingratitude.”
“Because of Yang Qingyin, I bore a grudge against you and thought of taking revenge. To be honest with you, the attack you and Yang Qingyin encountered at the Simatai Great Wall was orchestrated by me, and I even intended to frame the Ling brothers for it,” Fang Dongxun said candidly, staring at Luo Ziling. “At that time, I hated that despite knowing about my engagement to Yang Qingyin, you were still out playing with her, so I wanted to teach you a lesson and also disgust the Ling brothers. I just didn’t expect that you would end up injuring several people.”
“I believe that last night’s incident wasn’t your doing,” Luo Ziling said, starting to prepare the treatment supplies while speaking, “Of course, if I knew you still wanted revenge, I definitely wouldn’t have come to treat you again. As a man, it’s important to keep grudges and favors clear.”
“About that day at the Simatai Great Wall, I want to sincerely apologize and am willing to make amends. But the incident last night really wasn’t my work; I haven’t done anything. In my current condition, I don’t have the mind to engage in anything,” Fang Dongxun continued, as if afraid Luo Ziling still had suspicions. “What I’m thinking now is just to recover my health as soon as possible; nothing else is important.”
Seeing Luo Ziling not speaking, Fang Dongxun went on, “I’ve already discussed with my father, and I won’t agree to an engagement with Yang Qingyin anymore. Our Fang Family also won’t consider an alliance with the Yang Family. Meaning, the reasons for our conflict have been eliminated. Since there’s no conflict, and you are treating me, I would have to be as dumb as a donkey to seek revenge on you.”
“I like straightforward people like you,” Luo Ziling stood up and extended his hand to Fang Dongxun, “I’ve decided to do my best to treat you, although I was thinking of holding back initially. Also, I must tell you, many things aren’t as simple as they seem. Why so many things happen to me, you will understand in the future. These matters, your father will surely tell you one day.”
“Alright,” Fang Dongxun extended his hand and, after shaking hands with Luo Ziling, said sincerely, “You’re a friend worth making. I thought so the first time I saw you. I am willing to befriend you, and I hope we can help each other. I am aware that Chen Jiahai and the Ling brothers are very displeased with you, and the incident on Ouyang Huihui’s birthday was orchestrated by Ling Haining himself.”
“Heh, I figured as much!”
