Chapter 41: You Might As Well Marry Her

The sudden voice startled Xuan Yin, who was soaking in the warm pool. Her already rosy cheeks turned even redder as she quickly turned her head. To her surprise, the Daoist was standing not far away with a devious smirk on his face, looking rather menacing.

"You… Get lost! Get lost right now!" Xuan Yin's body was submerged in the pool, with only her head exposed. She glared at him with wide-open eyes, furious, and said, "Do you believe that I'll chop off your head right now?"

"Chop off my head again?" Lu Xun seemed unaffected by the threats from the little demoness. He said with a serious tone, "Alright, alright. Stop making a fuss, okay?"

"Who's making a fuss?" Xuan Yin clenched her teeth and roared angrily, "Don't think you can fool me with your nonsense. Just go away and leave my sight, or else, or else I'll really show you no mercy."

"Alright, alright. I got it." Lu Xun responded while undressing himself.

"What are you doing?" Xuan Yin watched in disbelief as he quickly took off his clothes, leaving only his undergarments. His strong and robust figure was fully exposed to her, and her face blushed even more intensely, spreading to her neck and ears.

"Taking a bath," Lu Xun replied, seemingly unashamed of his actions. "What? Only you're allowed to bathe, and I'm not?"

Rolling her eyes at Lu Xun's remark, Xuan Yin watched him strut towards his own private pool with an air of arrogance.

"Plunk!"

He jumped straight into the warm pool.

"Ah… So comfortable!" Lu Xun closed his eyes, leaning against the stone wall, and sighed, "Indeed, taking a hot bath after practicing swordsmanship is the real pleasure in life. My wife, you're really something else. Why didn't you tell me earlier? I've been taking cold showers every night and nearly caught a cold."

Seeing that he had already jumped into the pool, Xuan Yin was momentarily at a loss. Her face was now marked with a touch of profound anger, "It serves you right for catching a cold! I can't stand you."

"…"

"Why do you hold such a grudge against me?" Lu Xun turned his body and stared at the little demoness not far away with a thoughtful look. He asked with a smile on his face, "Hey, can you tell me more about yourself?"

"What do I have to tell you?" Xuan Yin pouted and glanced at the mischievous Daoist, annoyed. "Don't look at me, turn your head away."

Lu Xun smiled and didn't say much. He reached into his clothes and took out two small bottles of wine, gently asking, "My wife, would you like to have some wine? I brought two bottles specially for us."

"I don't drink!" Xuan Yin declined his offer and submerged half of her head in the pool, blowing bubbles.

Lu Xun took a sip of the wine, finding it sweet and refreshing with a slight burning sensation, yet not too dry. He put down the bottle and leaned against the edge of the pool, gazing at his little demoness tenderly. "To tell you the truth, I really consider you my wife."

"I'm a demon."

"If you are with me, we are destined to be enemies of the world. Are you really willing?" Xuan Yin said coldly, "Besides, I… I…"

Unable to continue, she bit her lips and whispered, "I don't care about you."

"No worries."

"I will make you care about me." Lu Xun said with a smile, "As for being enemies of the world, there's no absolute good or evil in this world. It's just a matter of different perspectives. There are good demons like you and your master, and there are bad people, those hypocrites in the court."

Xuan Yin was somewhat surprised by his words. She stared at him intently, trying to find any trace of deception on his face, but beneath his playful expression, she found a pair of clear and sincere eyes.

"Do you really think so?" Xuan Yin asked softly.

"Is there a reason not to?" Lu Xun shrugged and earnestly said, "I'm not just trying to win you over with sweet talk; I genuinely believe it."

Xuan Yin pursed her lips and a hint of emotion flickered in her eyes. She slightly turned her head away and grumbled, "I don't believe you, you big liar. You love deceiving people, especially demons."

"Ah," She then sighed, "Give me the other bottle of wine."

"But I thought you said you don't drink?" Lu Xun chuckled.

"Mind your own business!"

"Just give it to me!" Rolling her eyes, Xuan Yin urged him impatiently.

"Alright, alright." Lu Xun got out of the pool and brought a bottle of wine to Xuan Yin's side. He stretched his neck and peered inside, looking disappointed. "I thought you were naked. Turns out you're wearing a bellyband."

Xuan Yin was furious, and she glared at him coldly.

"Ouch."

"Freezing, freezing."

Lu Xun didn't dare to linger and hurriedly returned to his own pool.

Xuan Yin uncorked the bottle and took a sip, then muttered softly, "My master thinks highly of you. She believes that your future cultivation and realm could reach the level of Su Jingyi."

"Su Jingyi?"

"Is she your master's close friend?" Lu Xun asked curiously.

"…"

"You don't even know Su Jingyi?" Xuan Yin looked at him incredulously and explained, "She is the current Great Guardian and the head of the Daoist Sect. Twenty years ago, after a battle with my master, she slightly surpassed her in cultivation, earning the reputation as the world's Immortal. She is the most formidable opponent in this world for my master."

"I see."

Lu Xun nodded, then asked puzzledly, "Why did your master fight with her?"

"For the opportunity of Heavenly Dao." Xuan Yin replied.

"I see." Lu Xun pouted and continued, "Is your master planning to have me defeat her?"

"…"

"You might be overestimating yourself." Xuan Yin retorted dismissively.

"Everyone needs to have some dreams." Lu Xun said with a smile, "What do you think, my wife?"

"Hmph!" Xuan Yin coldly snorted and said indifferently, "If you want to defeat her, you might as well marry her. It would be easier."

As the words left her mouth, Xuan Yin regretted it a bit.

"Marry her?"

"It's not impossible."

"If my wife permits me to have concubines, I don't mind." Lu Xun mischievously added, "But, your husband is not just anyone. I won't settle for mediocre women; they must be exceptional."

"Oh by way!"

"This Su Jingyi, is she beautiful? How old is she? Does she have a ample chest? Is her waist slender? Are her legs long?"

Before Lu Xun could finish teasing, he suddenly sensed that the atmosphere wasn't quite right.
