Chapter 201 : 201: Earthquake
With the Aetherbrew Yeast now genetically modified, Kain decided to split the vial of modified yeast he had into 2. Half was put into container of royal jelly and given to Barret to test the effect on the beer. After a week of waiting, they finally tested the finished product, and confirmed that not only did the royal jelly improve the taste but also the amount of spiritual power in the beer.
It even had an added bonus of slightly restoring mental strength.
"Make sure to mention all of the benefits to the marketing firm!" Kain instructed Collin before leaving the factory filled with workers transporting boxes full of beer bottles for their first shipment.
He spent most of his time not cultivating or running the business, within the laboratory on campus to begin some of the preparatory work for the other experiments that he had planned for the future
The moth had already been moved to his spiritual plant fields off campus. Spirit Moths, true to their name can increase the spiritual power slightly of spiritual plants they land near. This results in a slightly faster maturation time and better plant quality than average.
Therefore, the observation area was currently empty and ready to welcome new spiritual creatures.
However, before he could start working on his new research direction, he first had to complete some of his backed-up Evolutionary Planner requests. All of these requests were actually quite far from Dark Moon which was why they'd been delayed until now, but they all were also offering to pay him a ton of GP to make the trip more than worth his while.
Darkstar City was a city in Eastern region located pretty far from Dark Moon, closer to the border of the Southern region and would take about a day by train to arrive.
It was a fairly large city within the Eastern region and due to its proximity to the Southern region had architectural elements of both regions.
The client Kain was helping this time was an intriguing case similar to Yara the Glimmering Salamander, Kain's first client as a planner.
It was another case of a spiritual creature having a mutation preventing it from evolving normally. This time the client had an Aurora Silkworm, a spiritual creature with many evolutionary forms depending on what it is fed over a prolonged period of time, that was still not showing any indication of being ready to evolve after over a year of eating the required materials.
Certain species must be primed for a long period of time using a certain diet in order to successfully evolve. When they are ready to evolve, a certain change will be observable.
For example, when the silkworm was fully saturated with a certain element, it will begin to form a silkworm cocoon around itself and the required evolutionary materials.
Using the System, Kain managed to determine that the silkworm's current evolutionary path based on the materials it was fed was not suitable for it. The mutation dictated that the resulting evolutionary form must be of the wind-attribute.
Therefore, the fire-attribute materials its contractor was feeding it to result in the desired fire-attribute evolution, would never result in an evolution and were actually slowly harming its health.
Thankfully, the client wasn't difficult, and after the issue was clarified they didn't require Kain to remain in the city to oversee every aspect of the silkworm's diet and future evolution.
"That was a lot easier than I expected…" Kain muttered happily while looking at the large deposit just added to his bank account.
He was currently sitting down and eating lunch at a restaurant within Darkstar City since he'd managed to finish the mission before lunchtime was even over.
Kain dug into his steaming bowl of noodles, the background noise due to hushed conversations conversation and the clinking of cutlery created a cozy atmosphere.
Suddenly, a gentle tremor coursed through the restuarant, barely even detectable if Kain's senses weren't heightened as a beast-tamer. Kain paused mid-bite, his focus momentarily drawn to the ice in his glass. The cubes bobbed lightly, swaying as if caught in a slow dance.
Some of the other beast-tamer patrons also stopped mid-conversation or while eating to look around curiously for the source of the tremor while the ordinary patrons asked what was wrong.
The gentle shaking slightly nudged a cup off of a patron's table and it crashed to the floor at almost the same time the tremors stopped.
If Kain couldn't see the curious looks in the other patrons' eyes or the shattered cup, he'd almost think the shaking was in his head.

Suddenly the sound of phone notifications began to ring out constantly in the restaurant. Nobody could focus on their meals any longer as they pulled out their phones to investigate—Kain included.
"Crap!" Apparently the faint tremor they felt was only due to the tremendous distance. The impact at the earthquake's core was tremendous. And unfortunately, the core happened to be not far from Dark Moon City.
Thankfully, Kain received confirmation from Barret and Collin that while there was a lot of damage due to the shaking within the city, their factory remained in tact.
However, the major source of news was not due to the damage caused by the earthquake, but rather what had caused the earthquake to occur in the first place.
Kain looked at the image uploaded online of a giant black box covered in intricate sigils that suddenly appeared in the wilderness not far from Dark Moon City.
It was difficult to judge the scale of the "box" based on the image alone, but considering the size of some of the enormous spiritual creatures in the photos next to the relic that were dwarfed by its size, Kain could determine that it was massive, far greater in height than even the tallest of building in both this world and on Earth.
Only on m v|le|mp|yr
It appears that Dark Moon College now had another relic in its vicinity and it only allowed entrants at or below yellow-grade spiritual power. Therefore, the majority of the first explorers will be made up of Dark Moon College students.
And unfortunately, Kain was now too far away to be within the first batch of entrants…
