This Beast-Tamer is a Little Strange

Chapter 4: Chapter 4: My Affinity is...?

Chapter 4: Chapter 4: My Affinity is...?

Filled with anticipation, Kain placed his hand on the surface of the egg. It was cool and smooth to the touch.

Strangely though, the moment contact was made his whole body felt as though an electric current was running through it.

'Yes! This feeling! The electrifying feeling of this world's strongest beast tamer'

Crack

Fine lines began to appear on the surface of the egg.

Crack Crack

'Come on! Come on! Come on my beautiful dragon!'

Crack

'Beautiful water nymph come to me!'

Crack

'Epic mythical creature of time and space, come to Papa!'

Crash

All of the eggshells fell away to reveal…

Nothing.

'Huh?' Kain's face stretched into a large grin froze.

'Come out little guy! Are you hiding?' Kain looked around in puzzlement.

'Maybe you're super small? Like a fairy or something?' Thinking so, he began to lift all of the egg shell pieces on the ground. Still nothing.

'Okay, I will figure out what is supposed to be in that one later…On to the next one I guess'

Moving to the next closest egg, Kain stretched out his hand to the same electrifying feeling.

'Please be something good this time!'

'Come on my beautiful majestic phoenix!'

…Nothing. Again there was an empty egg. With a sinking feeling in his gut, Kain reached out to the third egg.

'Come on lion! King of the jungle!'

Nothing.

He reached for the next egg.

'Come on elemental affinity! Any would do!'

Nothing.

The next egg…

'Come on wolf affinity!'

Nothing.

'Come on cat affinity…'

Nothing.

'Ice goldfish affinity?'

Still nothing…

While opening all of the eggs, Kain fell deeper and deeper into despair.

'Do I not actually possess any affinity? But that can't be true. People with no affinity just have an empty space. Why have affinity eggs if they're all empty?! Is this some kind of joke?!'

'System! Help me! I'm in the process of awakening now so activate and help! Tell me what's going on!'

Like always, the System gave Kain no help, no response. Nothing. Just like his affinity eggs.

Falling to his knees, he was on the verge of tears.

Suddenly, the pieces of egg shells all around began to dissolve into small particles before floating to Kain and getting absorbed into the white star in his body. Gradually, the appearance of his star began to change. The process was excruciatingly slow, but Kain could feel that there were definite changes.

'So I do have an affinity! I just have no idea what it is…'
