Chapter 31: Going In Deep (Part II)
After falling into a momentary trance, Chen Yu entered the Foreign Realm.
He looked around and saw that the number of people today was much fewer than yesterday.
Loosening the Tang knife that he’d slung across his back, Chen Yu didn’t waste much time as he headed for the depths of the Foreign Realm with quick, light footsteps.
“Click-clack.”
“Click-clack…”
As he moved farther away from the crowded circle of people, the sound of his lead boots hitting against the metal floor became exceptionally clear.
But as Chen Yu was walking, and walking, he suddenly stopped in his tracks, pricked his ears, and listened intently.
“Click-clack-click-clack-clack…”
Behind him, there was the sound of footsteps. At times, it was loud and clear, while at other times it was softer and indistinct.
If it weren’t for his extraordinary sense of hearing, he wouldn’t have noticed it at all.
Frowning, Chen Yu turned around, changing direction.
He had too many secrets and didn’t want to get into contact with the other warriors.
But after he started walking again, he hadn’t even covered that much distance when those dense footsteps sounded from behind him again.
All at once, Chen Yu was sure.
He was being followed…
For a moment, he stopped in his tracks, his mind racing. Then, he pulled out the Tang knife that he’d just bought, and once again, he turned about to head in a different direction, then fled at lightning speed.
…
“Chief, he seems to have discovered us and is running away.”
In the small team made up of four, the warrior who was in charge of tracking Chen Yu opened his eyes and reported, “He’s moving very fast. Should we stop for now? And wait till he thinks that he’s safe before we continue to give chase again?”
“How far is your tracking range?”
“We should have no problems tracking him within five thousand meters.”
“What direction is he heading in?”
“North.”
“North?” The warrior who was the leader of the team was startled and asked, “Isn’t that the location of the source of radiation?”
“Yes.”
“Then we can’t stop. Give chase at full speed!”
“Understood!”
The crowd responded all at once and followed the warrior who was their leader. Unleashing an outburst of all the internal energy they could possibly gather, they chased after Chen Yu at full speed.
The nearer one got to the source of radiation, the more damage the radiation would cause.
Their mission was to track Chen Yu and apprehend him, not to die with him…
…
The one in front was fleeing while the ones behind were chasing.
This stirred up gusts of whistling wind.
“Click, click, click, click…”
As they continued to go in deeper and deeper, the Geiger counters in each of their protective suits emitted warning sounds.
The ringing alarm made the four men go cold with fear.
“Chief, the radiation level is approaching 1000 mSv! Are we still going to continue chasing…”
“Yes!”
“But… the target is running too fast. If we continue to give chase any further…”
The lead warrior’s eyes flashed coldly when he heard this, and he scolded, “Good-for-nothing.”
The other three shut their mouths tight, not daring to say anything more.
They were all just Level 1 warriors. Furthermore, they were majors in Martial Law who weren’t the least bit good in physical combat techniques.
They did indeed slow the captain down.
“How about this? You guys take your time to chase. I’ll go and stop him first,” the leader said.
“Chief, is there any chance you might deviate and lose track of him?” the warrior in charge of tracking asked.
“He’s running so fast, and plus, his footsteps are so loud. How could I possibly lose track of him? I’ll go first. You guys catch up.”
“Understood!”
After he finished giving instructions, the leader began to summon his internal strength that he’d kept suppressed inside his body.
“Dong!”
A loud stomping noise was heard, and the leader became a mere trail of shadows, soon disappearing from the sight of the three other warriors.
“…”
The other three warriors looked at one another with envy in their eyes.
“Level 2 warriors are just so awesome.”
“Earlier, I was still under the impression that the upper management was making a mountain out of a molehill in sending a Level 2 warrior to capture a mere student. Now it seems that those in upper management are still more meticulous in their considerations.”
“Shut up. The boss is a martial arts professional. He’s not good at live capture. So let’s hurry up and support him…”
…
At the forefront…
Through the reversal of the [curse], physical strength was converted into “kinetic energy,” which allowed Chen Yu to run faster and faster.
The Foreign Realm, which was full of radiation, was his home court.
He was clearly aware that he had an advantage over the others.
The nearer to the source of radiation, the more cautious the enemy would be in taking action, lest they injure someone on their side by accident.
But… he was just a Level 0.7 warrior, after all.
With the sudden quickening of footsteps behind him, Chen Yu decisively stopped. Turning around with a tightened grip on his Tang knife, he braced himself and stood in wait for battle.
Someone was approaching him from behind, and this person was way too fast.
There was no escape for him…
“Dong!”
Twenty seconds or so later, a figure flashed past like lightning and landed heavily in front of him.
“…”
Chen Yu subconsciously bit the tip of his tongue.
“Level 2 warrior…”
Undoubtedly.
This was someone he wouldn’t be able to fight against…
“Run.” The man raised his head, and with a cold gaze, he questioned, “Why aren’t you running away?”
“… Who are you?”
“You can call me Zhang Qing.” The man looked Chen Yu up and down and said, “Chen Yu, student of No. 2 Middle High of Green City; was expelled from school half a month ago.”
“Is there anything in particular that I can help you with?”
“Of course.” The man named Zhang Qing spoke very slowly. He said, “But it’s not something I can tell you at the moment.”
Chen Yu could tell that the other party was trying to stall for time. He was waiting for his companions to arrive.
Therefore, he gritted his teeth and began to work his internal strength. Then, he swung his Tang knife and charged at Zhang Qing!
He dealt a powerful, heavy strike!
From right to left.
“That’s so fast!”
Zhang Qing was slightly taken aback, but he reacted quickly. With a quick retreat and a speedy backbend, he dodged the strike. Then, he wasted no time in meeting the challenge of returning a blow!
A left jab.
A right leg whip.
A left forward kick!
All these blows hit Chen Yu on his chest, which he’d left wide open.
“Knock, knock, knock!”
“Poof…”
Chen Yu spat a mouthful of blood inside the helmet he was wearing as he was sent flying a distance of ten meters or so away.
[Damage inflicted: Qi and blood +410]
[Damage inflicted: Qi and blood +485P]
[Damage inflicted: Qi and blood +362]
“Whack!”
After landing on the ground, Chen Yu immediately got back up on his feet with a carp skip-up.
He secretly let out a sigh of relief. He was unscathed.
The other party had exercised some restraint when attacking, which meant they had no intention of killing him.
This put Chen Yu’s mind at ease.
Given the situation, he wasn’t afraid of getting injured. He was only afraid of fatal injuries!
If the other party threw a punch in his chest, even his lungs and heart would be forced out of his body… No matter how much more Qi and blood were added, it would still be a GG for him.
As a Level 2 warrior, the other party was fully capable of this.
But since the other party wasn’t intending to kill him, things would be much easier to handle.
Thoughts raced through his mind as he flipped his wrist to lift the Tang knife. Then, taking aim at the enemy’s vitals, he charged at the other party again!
“Mm?” Zhang Qing frowned, dodged the blade, and sent his right leg flying out forcefully into a knee strike!
“Knock!”
He hit Chen Yu squarely in the jaw.
“Pfffft…”
He spurted out another mouthful of blood.
Chen Yu flipped several rounds in the air, then fell heavily with a loud “crack.”
[Hurt inflicted: Qi and blood +767]
[Hurt inflicted: Qi and blood +310]
“Heh!”
The next second, Chen Yu did a kip-up and once again rushed towards Zhang Qing. Raising his knife, he dealt the other party a vertical slash: “Olah!”
Zhang Qing: “…” (speechless)
“Dong!”
Chen Yu was sent flying into the distance for the second time. Blood sprayed everywhere inside his protective suit.
[Hurt inflicted: Qi and blood +869]
“Ha!”
With another carp skip-up, Chen Yu was apparently brimming with vitality and vigor. Taking up the stance of a Warcraft blade master, he swung his Tang knife in a circle and exclaimed, “For the tribe!”
Zhang Qing: “??”
“Dong!”
Chen Yu was sent flying into the distance for the third time. He was bleeding from his eyes, nose, mouth, and ears.
[Hurt inflicted: Qi and blood +920]
“Roar!”
With another carp skip-up, Chen Yu got up to his feet again, seemingly getting braver and braver with each fight he put up. With both hands grasping his knife, he rushed forward heedlessly, as though his life didn’t matter anymore, and shouted, “Long live the proletariat class!”
Zhang Qing: “???”
“Dong!”
Chen Yu was knocked away for the fourth time.
His body was completely covered in blood.
But the moment he landed on the ground, he got up to his feet again with another carp skip-up. And then, with an intrepid spirit, as though he weren’t afraid of death, he charged forward again while shouting, “Anywhere where there are leaves floating about and falling upon, there is the will of fire!”
Zhang Qing simply went, “What the F*ck?”
…
