Chapter 202: There is Always Someone Stronger Out There
“Sh*t!”
That fighter from the Amaterasu-gumi felt a chill running down his spine. Lu Xuan had been able to easily get rid of all of his underlings, and that alone was enough to make him shiver.
He felt the hairs all over his body standing up on end; it was a gut feeling that only kicked in when he ran into extremely dire situations.
That gut feeling was often more accurate than his own conscious judgment. As such, he never doubted that gut feeling.
Lu Xuan’s gaze on his back made him feel as if there were swords hanging right above his head.
Lu Xuan’s attitude infuriated him to no end as well. There was no way he would not have been able to tell that Lu Xuan was making a stepping stone out of him—an Invincible Vajra—just so that Lu Shanshan would be able to make further progress.
That was an insult like no other to him.
He never suffered a humiliation like this before.
With Lu Xuan’s gaze entirely fixed on him, he felt as if someone was pointing a sword right behind his back. He was unable to help but divert his attention to Lu Xuan, as he did not believe for a second that the other man would keep his hands to himself. That split second of a lapse in attention was enough for Lu Shanshan to gradually regain her advantage.
He was careless enough to let Lu Shanshan land a punch him directly, injuring him severely.
She then blasted yet another punch on him before he was able to get up, and that punch went straight through his chest.
“Did I just kill an Invincible Vajra?” Lu Shanshan was unable to believe what she had just done.
If it had not been for her putting her powers to the test like that, there was no way she would have believed that she was actually capable of such fearsome feats.
While the kill seemed kind of like a cheap shot due to Lu Xuan being around to distract her opponent, which, in itself, proved to be an extreme threat despite him having no intention of making a move, she had the powers of an Invincible Vajra.
“I’m now an Invincible Vajra, bro!”
Lu Shanshan leapt towards her brother, feeling very pleased with herself.
Lu Xuan looked at his sister and recalled how she pranced around her family whenever she got good grades when she was younger.
“Yeah, yeah, I can tell. You’re an Invincible Vajra already.”
Lu Xuan flashed a faint smile before cooling off right away, saying, “Now, you owe me an explanation, lady. Why are you here at Penglai Island?”
Lu Shanshan stuck her tongue out. She came to the island secretly.
In truth, she arrived at the island before Lu Xuan.
“I never thought this place would be this dangerous!”
Lu Shanshan pouted as she tried to defend herself.
Lu Xuan took no more than one look at his sister to know what she was up to. She fought Invincible Vajras before, and she did not lose. That fact probably had fueled her pride and ego somewhat.
“I assume that you now know that there is always someone more powerful out there, eh?”
Lu Xuan shook his head in exasperation.
Lu Shanshan nodded furiously. “I thought there were few Invincible Vajras to be had in the world. I never thought that there were so many of them. I actually ran into a couple just on my way here.”
Lu Xuan then explained, “Invincible Vajras are, of course, only a handful when you look at it on a global scale. They’re, without a doubt, exceedingly rare, so much so that you’d only find one in hundreds of thousands. But do you have any idea what this place is? Who the hell doesn’t know that there is that peach tree of this island, eh? Top-tier fighters from all of the world have gathered here, and you thought they’re here for fun?”
Lu Shanshan stuck her tongue out again, knowing that what she did was impulsive and reckless. While her cultivation level was such that she was able to hold her own against Invincible Vajras, that was only possible if she were to keep her fights short.
If she were to be forced to fight drawn-out fights or if she ran into some of the best among Invincible Vajras around, she would definitely lose.
She was still inferior when compared to the truly fearsome Invincible Vajras.
“Oh, right,” Lu Shanshan muttered.
“Bro, hurry up and get to Sister Lin. I was here with her on this trip, but we had to split on our way to fend off pursuers. She’s probably in a lot of trouble right now!”
“Sister Lin?” Lu Xuan asked, feeling puzzled.
“Who are you talking about?”
“Don’t you remember, bro? That girl that mom set up that matchmaking session for you with—Lin Miaoyi,” Lu Shanshan answered in an exasperated tone.
Lu Xuan recalled who she was talking about immediately, knowing that the “Sister Lin” that Lu Shanshan meant was probably Lin Miaoyi.
“Since when did you two get so close?” Lu Xuan frowned and asked.
“What’s so surprising about us getting close? You’re the one who likes locking yourself up all day long, not me, okay.” Lu Shanshan continued, “Well, no time for that. Get going and rescue her already!”
“Sure.”
Lu Xuan nodded. There was nothing else he could do at that stage anyway.
He was on his way to rescue people anyway, and it made no difference to him whether he had to rescue a single person or a group.
“She escaped that way.”
Lu Shanshan sped somewhere far away immediately, her brother in tow.
Having reached Invincible Vajra Level by then, both of them moved at incredible speeds. It seemed like they were two gusts of wind. They disappeared from where they stood before long.
Both of them traced Lin Miaoyi’s steps along her escape route, finding specks of blood on the ground along the way. Lu Xuan stopped momentarily and picked up some blood. He was able to sense, through the blood, where Lin Miaoyi was.
“That damned Huaxian woman. I’ll definitely tear her apart when I find her!”
Two men with blonde hair and blue eyes were grumbling about something, somewhere else on the island.
Both of them were injured somewhat, and it was apparent that they fought someone else before. While the wounds were shallow, the fact that they were injured infuriated them.
“Adam gave his orders. We have to get our hands on that Huaxian woman,” one of them quipped.
“She couldn’t have run that far away. She’s just ahead of us, and Adam did manage to do damage before.” Another continued, “Adam is fighting for the peach tree at the center of the island at the moment, but we have to get our hands on her before we leave.”
Both of them were still talking when they sensed a hostile gust of wind in their faces.
Two figures appeared not far away from them in the blink of an eye.
The appearance of those two figures and their excessively formidable aura, which they did not bother to conceal, frightened those two men tremendously.
They never expected to see a Huaxian where they were.
“Huaxian? How could this be? Didn’t the Huaxians get exterminated already?” one of them asked.
They attacked immediately, almost doing so on reflex.
However, two flashes of the sword shot out of the sword box on Lu Xuan’s back at that very second. The beams zipped past in the air and killed those two men in an instant.
Both of them were Deity Level fighters, yet they were unable even to fight back when facing off against Lu Xuan.
“Sister Lin!” Lu Shanshan shouted right away. A silhouette was seen not far from where the siblings stood.
Lu Xuan took a look and found that that silhouette belonged to none other than Lin Miaoyi.
…
