Chapter 265: I Really Like Mom
Chapter 265: I Really Like Mom
Chapter 265
In the small study, Chu Yang was explaining to Jiujiu about witches and some prophecies. As Jiujiu grew older, her ability to prophesy became stronger. One day, when Chi Jin came to visit them, Jiujiu kept staring at him intently.
Chi Jin picked up the little girl, asking, "Jiujiu, is there something you want to tell Uncle?"
Jiujiu replied, "Drugged drink."
Having seen scenes of drugging in TV shows, Jiujiu used this phrase.
Chi Jin looked puzzled, "What do you mean by drugged drink?"
Jiujiu made a gesture, mimicking putting something in a wine glass and then pretending to fall asleep.
Chi Jin turned to Chi Yan, "What does Jiujiu mean?"
Chi Yan frowned, "Is she saying someone will drug Uncle?"
Jiujiu nodded.
Chi Jin immediately became serious. When Chu Yang came downstairs, Chi Yan told her what Jiujiu had said. Chu Yang quickly looked into it and indeed saw that someone was planning to drug Chi Jin's drink.
"Brother, is there someone pursuing you recently?" Chu Yang asked.
Hearing this, Chi Jin felt annoyed. There was indeed someone pursuing him - his boss's daughter. But he didn't like her. However, the woman wouldn't give up. Was she planning to drug him to get what she wanted?
Chi Jin gently stroked Jiujiu's cheek, "Thank you, Jiujiu, and thank you, sister-in-law. I understand now and I'll handle it."
"Good," they replied.
After this incident, Chu Yang discussed with Chi Yan about starting to train and teach Jiujiu. The most important things were to control her prophetic abilities and to learn not to tell everyone about her predictions.
From a young age, Jiujiu knew she had special abilities. At first, she didn't understand anything, but with her mother's explanations and guidance, she came to understand that she had inherited her mother's abilities and would need specialized training in the future.
"I hope that besides protecting yourself, you can also protect those you want to protect," Chu Yang told her daughter.
"Okay, I will protect Dad, Mom, Grandpa, and Grandma," Jiujiu replied.
"Good girl."
Later, Chu Yang gave birth to a son, but Chi Jiaran didn't inherit Chu Yang's abilities, as witches typically pass their powers to daughters, not sons.
While Chu Yang was teaching Jiujiu about the Witch script and knowledge, Chi Jiaran toddled to the doorway. He leaned against the door, watching his sister and mother inside the room. He didn't enter but looked at his sister enviously.
When Chi Yan returned home, he saw his son like this. He squatted down and picked up the little boy, "What's my little brother doing here?"
Chi Jiaran sniffled, "Does Mom like sister more? Does Mom not like me?" He felt that Mom always paid more attention to his sister, often studying with her, but never with him, even though he was just starting to learn numbers and simple words.
Mom would sometimes take sister somewhere without him. He wanted to go too, but Mom said he couldn't.
Chi Yan hadn't expected him to think this way. He stroked his son's head, "How could you think that? Mom loves you very much too." When Chu Yang was pregnant with Chi Jiaran, she had severe morning sickness and couldn't eat much. Compared to the well-behaved Jiujiu, Chi Jiaran was overly active. He cried constantly when he was born and was very clingy, crying whenever his mother wasn't around. No one else could comfort him.
He always wanted his mother, and Chu Yang lost weight taking care of him. For a while, Chi Yan even felt that his son was too troublesome and didn't like him very much. In contrast, he preferred his daughter's good behavior, and Jiujiu resembled Chu Yang more, so Chi Yan favored Jiujiu.
Chi Jiaran improved as he got a bit older.
But Chu Yang noticed Chi Yan's attitude and told him it wasn't right. "Huohuo is just a child. He doesn't understand anything. As his father, you should guide him well. Don't favor one child over the other just because he's not as well-behaved. Huohuo is so adorable, and he looks just like you." Huohuo was Chi Jiaran's nickname, and he was the spitting image of Chi Yan as a child.
Chu Yang was overjoyed to see a miniature version of Chi Yan.
Chi Jiaran buried his face in his father's chest, "I want Mom to study with me too. Mom always studies with sister, but never with me. Is it because I'm not good enough, so Mom doesn't like me?" Tears welled up in Chi Jiaran's eyes.
Chu Yang came out just in time to hear this. She immediately went over and hugged him, "Does Huohuo want to study too?"
Seeing Chu Yang, Chi Jiaran felt a bit embarrassed but still clung tightly to his mother's neck, burying his head in her chest, "Mom~"
Chu Yang held him, "How about this: after Mom finishes today's lesson with your sister, I'll study with Huohuo, okay?"
Chi Jiaran nodded, smiling happily, his teeth not fully grown in, "Okay. Mom~"
"Yes, dear."
"I love Mom so much~" Chi Jiaran said shyly.
Chu Yang smiled and stroked his head, "I love Huohuo too."
Jiujiu came out and looked at her brother, "Didn't I tell you boys shouldn't cry? If you cry again, I won't play with you anymore."
Chi Jiaran quickly wiped away his tears, "I'm not crying."
That night, Chu Yang studied with Chi Jiaran for a while, then told him a story and put him to bed before returning to her room.
"I didn't realize our son felt that way," Chu Yang said, nestled in Chi Yan's arms. She had overheard the conversation between Chi Yan and their son outside the study.
Chi Yan stroked her head, "He's still young and doesn't understand. He'll know when he grows up."
Chu Yang said, "I have been neglecting him a bit. I'll spend more time with him these next few days."
Chi Yan wouldn't allow Chu Yang to blame herself, "It's not your fault. You've been busy lately, and studying with Jiujiu was already scheduled. Huohuo didn't have anything planned, and he's always been clingy with you, so he's just not used to it. He'll be fine when he grows up. I'll take him to the company for the next few days. Let him know he needs to work hard in the future, not just cling to you and Jiujiu. He'll have to support you all in the future."
Chu Yang laughed, "He's still so young, and you're already thinking about him supporting us?"
"It's never too early to start preparing," Chi Yan replied.
"He's really too delicate. When he's a bit older, I'll ask a master to teach him. Let him know you're my wife, and I won't allow him to always cling to my wife."
Chu Yang punched him lightly, "You're even jealous of your own son."
"Of course. If you spend too much time with him, who will keep me company, right?" He said, leaning in for a kiss.
Not long after, a sniffling Chi Jiaran appeared at their door, clutching his little pillow, "Mom~"
Chi Yan, interrupted at a crucial moment, froze and cursed under his breath, "I knew we shouldn't spoil that little brat."
Chu Yang burst out laughing, pushed him away, and went to open the door. She picked up her son, "What's wrong, Huohuo?"
Chi Jiaran, inhaling his mother's scent, said, "I want to sleep with Mom."
"Alright!"
Chi Jiaran, feeling secure, soon fell asleep in Chu Yang's arms. Then Chi Yan carried him back to his own bed... Hmph! No one could steal his wife!
