Chapter 13: Just Be Mrs. Li at Home
"If you want to collaborate with me, you must give 50% of the company's shares to me," Shen Ning stated boldly as soon as she took her seat.
Li Zhenting squinted his icy gaze. "Why?"
"Because of my true abilities," Shen Ning replied with a faint smile. "I possess the exclusive formula for Guqi Perfume, and as an internationally renowned fragrance expert, innovation is my specialty. I believe Mr. Li has already conducted market research. The decline of Guqi Perfume is a result of lacking an authentic formula and innovation. Customers can no longer find the original essence and it fails to satisfy their inner desires. Unless we abandon it, there is no solution."
Li Zhenting's interest was piqued, and a glimmer of intrigue appeared in his eyes.
Indeed, he had thoroughly researched the market, leading him to invest heavily in hiring an international expert.
Every word Shen Ning spoke made perfect sense.
"If Mr. Li disagrees, then our collaboration is off the table," Shen Ning declared impatiently, swiftly standing up. "But let me make it clear, if I leave, I will find another opportunity, and Guqi Perfume will cease to exist. Despite Mr. Li's wealth, the failure to protect his own wife's company will be a significant blow to his reputation."
After exposing his vulnerabilities, she turned and made her way to the exit.
Li Zhenting greatly valued his reputation. Shen Mei was his wife, and if Guqi Perfume failed, he would be subject to ridicule.
"Alright, I agree," he responded. Indeed, just as Shen Ning was about to leave the premises, Li Zhenting's magnetic voice resonated through the air.
Shen Ning breathed a sigh of relief, her eyes gleaming with a cold, calculating light.
Reclaiming the shares of Guqi Perfume was only one aspect; uncovering the truth behind her mother's death was her ultimate goal. If she left now, she would have no starting point.
He could harm her, but allowing him to get away with her mother's death was out of the question!
"I disagree," Shen Ning stated firmly. Just as Shen Ning and Li Zhenting were negotiating and had just finished signing the agreement, the sound of rapid footsteps in high heels echoed at the entrance. Shortly after, Shen Mei stormed into the room, visibly agitated and furious.
At that moment, the atmosphere around Shen Mei turned dark and gloomy.
She had been awakened by a phone call from Wu Lili, who angrily informed her that Shen Ning had returned with two illegitimate children.
Wu Lili, Shen Mei's classmate and close friend, had always aspired to marry into a wealthy family but ended up with an elderly man. Shen Ning's second uncle, Shao Wenbo, was patiently waiting for his share of the inheritance to indulge in a relationship with a younger man.
Shen Mei, on the other hand, had set her sights on becoming Mrs. Li. She had just received a tip from a reliable source and rushed over in a hurry.
The President's office.
Shen Ning lifted her head slightly, her expression composed and calm.
Shen Mei's once beautiful face had twisted and contorted, her eyes filled with a malicious gleam.
But soon...
She saw Li Zhenting seated on the sofa, exuding an aura of power and sternness. Shen Mei's heart sank, and she lowered her head, assuming a pitiful and helpless demeanor.
"Zhenting, Guqi Perfume was a company my father gifted to me. I cannot give away the shares," she pleaded as she approached Li Zhenting, gripping his arm and shedding tears.
Li Zhenting raised his gaze, glancing at Shen Ning across from him. His slender, pale fingers gently caressed Shen Mei's face as he spoke with warmth, "Don't worry, you will remain the company's director. Since managing the company isn't your forte, you can focus on being Mrs. Li and enjoy your time at home."
Mrs. Li?
Shen Mei's tear-streaked face froze for a moment, and then realization dawned upon her. A radiant joy blossomed on her enchanting countenance.
Was Li Zhenting going to marry her?
This was fantastic! She had waited for this moment for so long.
Her eyes sparkled with excitement.
