Chapter 18: Hit Shen Mei in Front of Him Again
In the Guqi Perfume warehouse.
"These and all of these... get rid of them all," Shen Ning headed straight for the company's warehouse as soon as she arrived at Guqi. After taking a sniff of the flamboyant array of perfumes in front of her, she discarded them aside and instructed her secretary.
The secretary wore a troubled expression and remained motionless.
"What's the matter?" Shen Ning furrowed her brow.
"Miss Shen, President Shen specifically instructed us to sell these perfumes. The company has already prepared the marketing plans," the secretary hesitated for a moment before reluctantly revealing the truth.
Shen Ning's gaze turned cold, and she raised an eyebrow. "These perfumes contain phthalates, which produce harmful residues during the synthesis process. They are below standard and should never be brought to market. Selling them would be highly irresponsible to our customers and would only tarnish the company's reputation."
"Who said they're below standard?" Just as she finished speaking, Shen Mei walked in wearing high heels, her face adorned with a contemptuous smile. "Shen Ning, do you even understand perfumes? Do you know anything about running a business? Phthalates actually help water and fragrance blend better, creating a more uniform and stable composition. Surely you're not suggesting that you don't even grasp this concept?"
In reality, it was common in the industry to include a certain amount of phthalates. It was merely a matter of quantity to maximize profits. As for the residue, it meant nothing in the eyes of a merchant.
Shen Ning crossed her arms in front of her chest and stared at her, a cold smile on her face. "No wonder Guqi has suffered such a rapid decline in just a few years. Not only is the formula inadequate, but the company's integrity has also come into question. Chasing profits at any cost, moral compromise—this strays far from Guqi's original purpose. If this continues, shutting down and going bankrupt is imminent."
"You wretch, how dare you curse my company with bankruptcy," Shen Mei exploded in anger, grabbing a bottle of liquid from the table and splashing it toward Shen Ning's face.
The strong odor of phthalates permeated the air.
Shen Ning's face changed color.
She swiftly dodged, moving aside just in time.
The liquid splashed onto the boxes behind her with a resounding "splash," instantly turning the yellow cartons white.
Shen Ning seethed with anger.
She never expected Shen Mei to be so malicious, trying to disfigure with the corrosive properties of phthalates.
"Shen Mei, you wicked woman. I won't let you get away with this today." Shen Ning shouted angrily as she charged toward Shen Mei.
Shen Mei had long been afraid and panicked, turning around to run.
But in her eight-centimeter heels, she could only take a few steps before Shen Ning caught up to her from behind, grabbing hold of her hair.
"Sister, please don't hit me... Help!" Shen Mei, having suffered before, trembled in fear, her face turning pale as she cried out for help.
"You wicked woman, you never change. You're so malicious." Shen Ning raised her hand and delivered a sharp slap to Shen Mei's face, the sound reverberating in the room.
Li Zhenting had just stepped out of the elevator and witnessed the scene.
"Shen Ning, who gave you the audacity to assault someone in front of me repeatedly?" He bellowed angrily, emanating a chilling aura, his gaze filled with a deadly intensity.
Had this woman gone mad? Hitting Shen Mei again in his presence—wasn't this a deliberate act of causing trouble?
"Zhenting, please save me. Sister hits me every time she sees me," Shen Mei heard Li Zhenting's voice and felt a sense of relief in her heart. She immediately covered her face and crawled over, sobbing as she sought refuge in Li Zhenting's embrace.
Li Zhenting's gaze sharpened as he held Shen Mei, and he sternly addressed Shen Ning. "Shen Ning, believe me when I say I will make sure you are expelled from the Capital immediately."
