Chapter 639 - Feelings Of Camaraderie And Connection
The sounds of knocking on the door awoke Yvonne from her daze.
Turning around, she allowed whoever it was to enter and found a maid walking inside.
"Miss, the Princess has returned." She informed the child soon after bowing to her.
Yvonne was hoping for more time to stay with her thoughts but since the Princess was already here, she would not say anything in objection.
She nodded to the maid before hopping down from her seat by the window.
The maid guided her to the entrance where she found the group with Princess Felicia and Glennise Brodie at the forefront with the rest standing behind them.
"We shall head to the Main Palace now." The Princess announced while the others nodded their heads..
She had wished to stay with them and get to know them better but a maid from the Main Palace had come to inform them that the lunch was ready to be served.
Since she did not wish to make the others wait for her sake and hinder the girls with her, she decided to return to the Rose Palace and pick up Yvonne St. Claire before they could head to the Main Palace.
Yvonne had no clue about this sudden change in plans so she could only nod as she took her place next to the Kiron sisters once again.
Earlier, they were moving in pairs but with the addition of the Princess now, Glennise stood with Princess Felicia which led to Rika standing with her sister.
However, now that Yvonne had joined them, the Kiron sisters chose to stand on either side of her.
As soon as Yvonne took her place next to Aleena, the other girl leaned closer to her ear.
"You missed a lot after you left!" She whispered and there was a twinkle of excitement clear in her eyes.
This statement brought curiosity to Yvonne's mind and she glanced sideways at her, hoping to know more about it.
Since she had a twisted encounter with the Prince after she left the greenhouse, she wondered if the girls had a better time in comparison to hers.
Her curiosity wasn't quenched as Aleena simply glanced at the girl before her without speaking another word.
The group of girls was walking in the same sequence with only a few minor changes, therefore, the one standing before them was the one from before.
Yvonne followed Aleena's gaze only to find that it was being aimed at Elna Leopold.
'What? Did Aleena win the argument for once?' Her mind first deduced that it was related to the animosity between these two.
She snickered to herself as it was always Elna who had the upper hand in their interactions.
However, it looked like something different had taken place today as a single glance at Elna Leopold was enough for her to detect that the older girl was in a sullen mood.
Her body radiated her displeasure and even if she was walking with her chin raised high as always, there was a certain sense of gloom surrounding her.
This discovery was making Yvonne feel better already as she was not a fan of Elna who always came off as contemptuous and loved to talk down to her.
'Well, I'm glad you won for once.' She looked away from Elna and nodded at her neighbor.
Aleena appeared to be visibly confused by the nod of approval she received from the younger girl but shrugged it off.
As they were walking in such close proximity, revealing what had taken place in the greenhouse after she had left would not be the best thing to do.
Therefore, Aleena maintained her silence but made it a point that she would spill everything once they were in a safe place.
Yvonne walked along with the rest and they soon reached the Main Palace in no time.
The garden where they had all separated was the place where they had once again reunited with the rest.
The group of girls soon disbanded and headed towards their families and Yvonne did the same.
The little girl's eyes sparkled when she saw her parents standing together with her uncle and aunt.
At a distance, she even found her brother, Taylor, and her twin cousins too were with them.
'They seem to have gotten close.' She raised her brow upon seeing Topher Tanner and her cousin Knox conversing with ease.
This reminded her of the dream she had in the past when she had first visited the Valente fief.
In that dream, she had seen that the Valente twins were close to the then Duke Topher Tanner.
The younger twin, Knox Valente seemed well acquainted with the Duke while the elder twin kept his distance though they were polite.
This made her remember that some bonds were meant to be and had remained even in this world.
At this thought, her eyes flitted to the location of the Princess and the daughter of the Brodie family.
Since the Royal couple wasn't here, Glennise had led the Princess to her family.
When Yvonne looked their way, Duchess Brodie had just said something which brought wide smiles to the two little girls as they each nodded their heads in acceptance to whatever it was that the Duchess had said.
Duke Maldock Brodie was a silent member but the subtle smile on his face proved that he too was a happy participant in the interaction.
Averting her eyes from the Duke, Yvonne's eyes fell on the girls standing next to each other.
In the script, these two girls were said to be Yvonne's closest friends, for whom she was willing to even go against the future King of Rosenhyde.
They supported each other, stood by the others' side in times of trouble, and they were always ready to extend a helping hand when the other was in need.
However, ever since she had entered this body, she maintained her distance from them in order to not get herself tangled in the events that took place in the script.
Today was the first day she had a proper conversation with them and even then, it was polite and distant at best.
She did not know why but the thought of missing out on the bond she had with these girls made her heart clench in distress.
'No! They had a bond with Yvonne in the script and not with me…' She corrected the mistake her mind had made.
Those feelings of camaraderie and connection were not something she knew of.
They belonged to Yvonne from the script and not to her.
Therefore, she shook her head at this absurd thought and looked away, turning towards her brother who was seeking her out.
Howard and Taylor were calling out to her, asking about what she had done but she had been out of sorts and had not yet answered them.
"We visited the greenhouse." She gave them a vague answer once she came back to her senses.
She did not wish to go into detail nor did she want anyone to know about her interaction with the Prince who had kidnapped her for a short while.
Therefore, she kept her answer short and did not reveal any more than what was necessary.
Taylor and Howard did not notice anything wrong with her answer so they nodded before they began speaking about the places they had been to.
Yvonne chuckled when she saw Taylor rolling his eyes as soon as Howard began his elaborate explanation of the training grounds of the Royal guards that they had visited earlier.
Looking at their interaction, she remembered that while some things seemed inevitable like the friendly relationship between the Valente twins and Topher, not everything was the same.
If every word of the script had been followed then Taylor, Marquess Samed, and Duchess Beatrice Tanner should have all perished in the plague.
However, she had averted that disaster thanks to the knowledge she gained from her dreams.
Therefore, even if things weren't going in the way she expected them to be, she knew that all wasn't lost.
So what if Prince Fritzen knew that it was her who saved him?
Or if Prince Draco, her supposed future husband, had already met her?
She was still hellbent on staying away from them and avoiding the sad state that Yvonne in the script had ended up in.
While Howard continued blabbing about what he had seen and experienced in the Training grounds of the Royal guards, Yvonne's eyes once again fell on the girls standing with the Brodies.
'I hope that you also avoid the bad end you meet in the script.' She prayed for their safety as they too never deserved to meet such a sorry end that Asmodeus had written for them in the script.
Her gaze did not remain on them for long and she averted her eyes back on her brother and her sworn brother who now were bickering among themselves.
As her attention had been successfully diverted by the two older boys, she had failed to notice that the two girls from earlier were now looking her way.
Princess Felicia had felt a strange sense of intimacy and connection with this daughter of the St. Claire family ever since the first moment she laid eyes on her.
She could not explain where such a feeling was originating from, but she knew how to judge the other person's every expression and mannerism.
It was as though she had known Yvonne all her life and had interacted with her enough to know what was on her mind just by glancing at her expressions.
Therefore, when she felt Yvonne's gaze land on her earlier and now again, Princess Felicia was curious to know what was on the other girl's mind.
There was something about Yvonne St. Claire that made her wish to get closer to her, mingle with her, and converse with her for longer.
Thus, when the younger girl looked away and focused her attention on her brothers, Princess Felicia was free to watch her which made Glennise do the same as she was curious to know why the Princess was behaving in an unfamiliar manner today.
