Chapter 776 - The Valente's Departure
The events that took place in the Throne room were not heard by any outsider.
The two Dukes did not utter a single word about what they had witnessed there even to their family members.
In this way, everything that took place remained a secret until the time for it to be revealed would come.
___
Hours passed and right now, Yvonne and her family were standing outside their mansion.
The Kiron tea party had ended without much happening after they had all taken their seats to enjoy the atmosphere Marchioness Patrina Kiron had created for them.
Everyone had a good time and Yvonne was glad that nothing much happened until they left the Kiron estate.
Upon their return, the two families had gone to rest and this was when the child, as always, narrated the events to Jax who was still learning about the inner workings of these noble families.
It was around four in the evening when they had all assembled again in the Parlor where the two families had tea together one last time.
The carriages of the Valente family were ready outside the mansion, waiting for them to arrive so that they may head back to their fief soon after.
Their servants had also packed their luggage and placed them inside these carriages.
Now all that was left was for their masters to bid goodbye to the St. Claire family and begin their journey back to the Valente estate.
Raylene was happy during the tea party as she had a good time with Trisha and the other madams she was friendly with.
She had almost forgotten about their return to the Valente estate until one of the ladies had inquired about it.
Only then did Raylene recall that her brother and his family would be leaving soon.
The evening tea was silent and no longer as animated as it usually was in the last week.
The gloom of their departure had dampened the mood but they chose not to discuss it.
After all, the Valentes had to leave someday or the other.
"We will await your arrival." Viscount Marcus Valente finally spoke up when his cup was emptied.
His sister, brother-in-law, and niece would be coming to meet them soon which made him feel a little better.
Howard had already apologized beforehand that his studies would not permit him to have a leisure vacation with them during the later summer days.
Thus he only shot them a smile and watched as his mother and sister nodded at this reminder.
With just this one sentence, tea time regained its silence, and soon everyone had completed their cups of hot beverage.
There was no longer any reason for the Valente family to stick around so they began to make their way outside.
Raylene hugged her sister-in-law and patted the heads of her nephews who were about to leave soon.
Rutherford and Marcus nodded at each other as this was the best way for them to express themselves.
Meanwhile, the children were discussing what they could do when Yvonne came over to celebrate her birthday at their fief.
Howard did not interrupt the twins as this could be the only time they would get to hoard Yvonne's attention all to themselves.
Therefore, with a complacent look on his face, he stood at the side while listening to their conversation.
Yvonne's main aim for visiting the Valente fief was to meet the Hagen family and discuss her plans for CLOVER and also to stay away from the nobles in the Capital.
However, she did not display any objection to the twins' plans and agreed with all of them.
Soon it was time for them to leave as beginning the journey after it got dark was not a good idea.
Therefore, after one last goodbye to the St. Claire family, they got into the carriage.
Howard and Yvonne waved at the twins who were doing the same as their carriages began to move at a slow pace.
"We shall meet you soon, Howard!" Knox yelled once their carriage was a short distance away from the entrance of the mansion.
This statement made the young heir tilt his head as he could not understand what it was supposed to mean.
Weren't the twins returning to their fief now?
Not to mention that he had already said that he would not be heading over to the Valente fief this summer.
Therefore, for what reason did the younger twin shout that absurd statement out loud?
Raylene's teary eyes while watching their carriages leaving the St. Claire estate turned towards her son and she smiled when she saw the look of confusion on his face.
Even Yvonne appeared to be puzzled at the sudden announcement Knox had made before leaving without giving them a proper explanation.
At this moment, Rutherford wrapped his arms around his wife and handed his handkerchief to her which she gladly accepted.
While she wiped her tears, the Earl decided to enlighten the children about a certain decision that the Valente family had made while they resided in their estate for the last week or so.
"Your cousins will be returning to the Capital after the Summer." He explained what Knox was talking about.
Howard had been gloating that after celebrating Yvonne's birthday, those older boys would not get the chance to see her, thus, letting him stay without any worries about her being snatched away.
However, what he was hearing now was capable of destroying his dreams of living happily with his sister, without any nuisances distracting them.
With wide eyes, he glanced at the three members of his family and found that only his sister was as clueless as he was.
His parents seemed to have known about this for a while now but had not revealed this matter to them.
"The boys wanted it to be a surprise." Raylene did not know the kind of thoughts in her son's mind and added when she saw that he was still confused.
'Oh, it is a surprise, alright!' He scoffed inwardly at the crafty tactics their cousins had adapted to catch him off guard.
They had pretended that this was the last chance they would get to spend time with Vonny when in actuality, they would have numerous opportunities to do so in the future as well.
The plague had halted their plans in the past but now that it had come to an end, they would be moving in and out of the Capital at will.
'And just at the time when I will be stuck in the Academy!' Howard stomped his feet at this realization which caught the others by surprise.
Rutherford raised his brow at the heir who was acting like a child while his wife giggled in his arms.
"Will they be staying here?" Howard soon inquired if the twins would be stuck close to his sister during his absence.
If he was in the Academy the entire time and Vonny got too close with the twins then wouldn't he be kicked out of the top spot in her heart?
Just the thought of this happening was making him grit his teeth at his cunning cousins who were too smart for him.
"Hmm?" Raylene stopped laughing before shaking her head in reply to what her son had asked.
"They purchased a villa nearby." It was Rutherford who had revealed this information, resulting in Howard breathing a sigh in relief.
The young boy was happy that they would at least not stay in this mansion all day long.
"Why?" Yvonne tilted her head as she posed this question after a long period of silence.
Her query wasn't about their place to stay but their reason for buying this place.
Why did they need to stay in the Capital when they had been in their fief all through their lives?
"Your cousins are adults and it's time for them to join the noble society, making a name for themselves rather than just being the sons of the Viscount." The father explained in simple words why the twins were doing something new this time.
The knobs in Yvonne's mind began whirling at a high speed as she pondered on this information, thinking of ways in which she could use it to her advantage in the future.
'I should talk to them once I reach the Valente fief..' She decided when a thought came to her mind.
