Chapter 388 388: The Conclave I

?

It was not just the doctors that had ordered a bed rest for Cole and Eze, even the system itself agreed as they were unable to log in or even access the dungeon that was in the city. It was annoying, but Cole knew he had to give his body, his real body time to rest and recover from the absolute war and hell he had put it through in the Battle for London as they have taken to calling it now. Cole could barely give a shit about propaganda, as it stands with what the world council had done.

It was becoming very obvious that there would be no sense of unity among humanity by the time the incursion will roll over. Perhaps he might have gone about it the wrong way. Maybe the whole' I am so powerful you cant do shit to me' routine he had with the world council was not the best way. But Cole did not want to summit himself to another authority, he at least hope the collective good for the whole of humanity would be worth something to them and they will actually consider a partnership. He would train their soldiers and even help give them access to the system.

In exchange of course, he would gain the power and the kind of autonomy that would make it easier on him to build what he wants to build. And still be able to sleep peacefully knowing he had helped his fellow humans grow and be strong to face off against the change that was coming, because it will be a very big one.

But in the end he could not lay down on the bed for so long, by the second day Cole was already antsy and restless. He felt as if just sitting on his ass for so long was not a very proper thing to do, but in the end there was no way he would be able to log for at least another five days, a whole week.

And more than just that, the part of whatever the fuck occasion his grandfather was hosting was drawing close. Heck it was in fact today and everyone was waiting for him. But Cole was standing in front of his dressing mirror with a scowl on his face, and not a pretty one for that matter. There was a knock on his door as Tehila let herself in. This was the 25th century, she was not wearing a dress but a suit rather, and from here Cole could smell the steel coating her tail…..it was potent and scary.

It was a simple black and white suit with steel toed combat boots. Then her tail had the tip of it encased in some sort of sharp metal armor. It looked like a fashion statement, but the scent of the steel was distinct, Cole did not know why. Their senses were heightened, but there was something special about this.

"Don't look so surprised, Didn't Peronico tell you he wanted to run some tests to understand your biology. And since I am also the first female Raen, which is a lucky coincidence frankly speaking, he has spent a bit of time understanding Raen biology. For one thing Raen females secrete a kind of liquid from their tails that solidifies into a biological metal with two times the strength and harness of a diamond. A sort of defense mechanism I guess, it is also very fashionable. Now what are you doing here? We're all waiting for you." she said to him as she came and hugged him from behind, her head over his shoulder as they looked at the dressing mirror together.

"I don't know what to feel…..honestly this whole thing has me really tired. Our family is messed up, I cant kill my brother no matter how much I want to. I want to kill my aunt, but I would be too much of a hypocrite if I don't understand that she did the same thing I did. Only whereas I succeeded, she couldn't kill me for killing her loved ones…..people that actually turn out to be my family.

Its a mess that I don't know how to fix. Somehow I want us to be okay once again, to be a family. But the scar that has been left behind was massive, not one that could be easily swept under the rug and have a tearful reconciliation with forgiveness and the power of the fucking rainbow pony spreading all around....I want to kill something!" Cole hissed out through his teeth as he closed his hand around his fist multiple times, a hunger for the battlefield suddenly arising from within him with a extreme feeling of irritation.

"So…. you don't want to go to the party because you're not sure how to relate with your family again after everything that has happened. Cole nodded his head, he wanted vengeance. Every bone in his body was creaming for blood, the Raen in him demanded he put the heads of his enemies on the spike, even the human in him wanted vengeance. But Cole did not know how much more of this madness his mother could take or his father, or his nephew and niece. And their Mom.

Further conflict was not viable, not unless the other party still wants to be douche bags and in that case Cole would be happy to destroy them all no matter the connection they had with him, but for now, at least for the sake of the young ones, these kids deserved the chance to grow up in a world without such a stigma following behind them. They had to try to at least mend the cracks as much as possible so that they don't grow up with darkness in their lives.

But there was a part of him that felt that all of this was futile, he was worried, nervous. Maybe the darkness was already too much in their family, maybe, just maybe….it was a little too late to save the Night Family, and darkness might be all they are destined to embody.
