Chapter 461 461: Te Boreas: The Wolf War V
The man That was Cole Night did not seem like the kind of person anybody could mess with. Jerome was just a simple soldier anyways, an orphan too for that matter, so in the end he didn't have as much stake in this battle as everyone else. Of course then there was General Soron making everyone feel like they were invisible, with their blood pumping to an all time high.
But it was Cole Night who had the day….or rather the night. As General Soron spoke, Jerome was observing every look on the face of Cole Night, the couldn't read it, but he couldn't lie, an individual with such power and grace made him want to rush headfirst into any danger that came his way. Sierra Corp had made sure to broadcast every aspirants adventure from the very moment the incursion started and they could visit the other universe.
lights??vel Cole had been studied, observed way more than the Raen could or would ever know as his secrets, skills and tactics were analyzed. Of course his stat page was kept secret always, so no one really knows how powerful or dangerous Cole Night really was. As Jerome watched him, the Raen floated into the air, red and black lightning dancing off his body as he reached a height of ten meters.
He was right in the middle of the massive plaza on the first district, not too far from the gates that was still thrown own For refugees to make their way into or out of the city. Though mostly they were leaving with many of them camping outside the city proper to wait for the outcome of this war. Either ways the gate would still be like that for a while, hopefully there was no enemy in the rear hoping to profit from all this carnage, but given how chaotic Te Boreas has been recently, Jerome would not put such a situation past them.
*Boom!*
A powerful shockwave was released from Coles body as it spread out to the surroundings. Jerome shook a bit from where he was standing as he felt an intense chill run up and down his spine. He held tightly to the spear in his grasp as he looked around his surroundings.
He wasn't sure he was the first to notice it, but someone brought everyone's attention to the shadows surrounding the plaza. Every shadow whether they be from the buildings or any other structures down to living things were pulled towards Cole. Another shockwave was released along with a wave of energy so thick and viscous Jerome almost couldn't breathe.
Then the shadows coalesced into sixteen 50 feet tall, 30 feet wide gates. They rippled with shadows as Cole Night's eyes were completely pitch black, as if the shadows had swallowed everything that he was, everything even the chaos itself was gone and all that was left was the sheer endless ephemeral darkness that was shadow.
"Move out!"
"Charge!"
"Go!"
"For Te Boreas! For The King! For Our COUNTRY!"
The war cries of the generals reached them all, as they rushed forwards, weapons at the ready at the all consuming gates of darkness that was right in front of them. It was so much worse for Jerome who was right at the front. His advancement was required to give morale to the people behind him. But he was not too ashamed to say this massive gates of darkness scares him.
But was there anything to be done about it, it was already too late. By this point all that mattered was the fight, and that was all that mattered to Jerome. Orphan? Yeah sure, but he also ran his local streets and was a tyrant many people were scared of. He only felt the power he had gained there, on the streets were superficial so he joined the army to get real power and sate his love for battle.
But here he was afraid of a simple teleportation skill. Perhaps it was not the skill itself, but the sheer scope of it that shocked him. A pathway through the shadows to take people instantly from one place to the next, and much more than that it had to he thousands of people at a spot. The individual this scope or rather range of ability belongs to was terrifying, because Jerome would never in a million years doubt what he was seeing right now….this was real power.
*Swoooooo!*
There was a sound of rushing wind as they made their way through the shadows. Fear did not let Jerome stop moving forward, and the moment he had crossed into the gate, everything had turned black and white for a second, as his eyes caught a glimpse of a wasteland of black and white horrors, and then he was out in another plaza, right behind the backs of an adventurer's guild force, with three Animechs.
Heart still pounding Jerome took the first strike, raising the spear in his hand, or rather if you took a closer look your realized it was a javelin he was carrying, very different from the rest of his fellow soldiers. Jerome too a stance as he pulled his arm back, the javelins in his hand coming alive in a blaze of runes and flames as he shot it forwards.
*Boom!*
The Javelin left a sonic boom in its wake, which was what alerted the enemies to their arrival, but by then it was a little too late as the Javelin dug into the back of a crane like Animech and then proceeded to explode, the explosion powerful enough to catch the other Animechs in its radius, but enough to bring them down completely.
Jerome did not rest on his Laurels as two black blues went past him and the wolves transformed to engage the other two Animechs, the third was already down for good, Jerome had four stats in the Gold rank. He was second in command to General Soron and above all he has been trained as an Interceptor. An elite secret group of Te Borean military, trained specifically to neutralize and take down Animechs. It was a unit with a lot of casualties, which was why only the absolute crazies and battle hungry yet still talented individuals were taken there and trained.
Either way, just bringing down Mechs was not the only thing Jerome could do. Now that the Animech was down, it was time to put his talents to some use somewhere else.
