Chapter 1147 It’s All in the Past Now

Jenny was surprised when Old Mr. Faust brought up the issue. She knew about his intention early on, but evidently, she didn’t care because she never bothered to bring it up anymore. Of course, she hated being a pawn in someone’s game, but she acknowledged that Old Mr. Faust treated her well during her two-year marriage. Moreover, she was the one who gave the final nod to the marriage after Old Mr. Faust and her grandpa discussed it. Therefore, she had no one to blame.

“Grandpa, why are you bringing it up? It’s all in the past now.” She smiled at him with a calm look on her face, much to his relief.

He insisted, “It doesn’t matter. I was in the wrong. I had wanted to find a chance to apologize, and I feel better now that I have done it.”

In reality, he insisted on apologizing to her because he feared Jenny would hold a grudge against the Fausts due to his selfish intentions from years ago.

“It’s all in the past,” she repeated. Yes, everything was in the past. Old Mr. Faust might have been calculative, but that was years ago. She trusted that Alec was honest with her.

“Yeah, you are right. It’s all in the past.” He nodded, feeling reassured. They chatted for a bit, and he learned that Alec and Jenny would visit Orchid Village. He then reminded Alec to pay respects to Jenny’s late grandfather at the village.

After lunch, Old Mr. Faust retired to his room for a nap while Alec brought Jenny out for a stroll on the streets. It hadn’t been long since they left Parrington for Bardoff City. Parrington did not change much, and they felt a sense of familiarity when they walked on the streets.

“Do you have anywhere you want to check out?” he asked Jenny.novelbin

She scanned her surroundings, but nothing came to mind. “Let’s have a simple stroll. It doesn’t take long to come here from Bardoff City. If I miss Parrington, I can always visit.”

“Sure,” he agreed, listening to everything she said.

The couple strolled aimlessly on the streets while chatting once in a while. They didn’t speak much, but they were comfortable in each other’s presence and got along perfectly.

When night arrived, Warren called them and said that Old Mr. Faust wanted to know when they’d come home. After that, Alec and Jenny slowly made their way back to the Old Mansion.

“Where did you go?” Old Mr. Faust asked with a smile when he saw the couple.

Jenny went up to him and answered, “We went out for a walk on the streets, n

“True. There’s nothing much to see in Parrington, especially when both of you are locals. You left for Bardoff City, but that wasn’t too long ago. You wouldn’t miss Parrington just yet,” Old Mr. Faust analyzed.

Jenny nodded and agreed with what he said. She didn’t feel longing for Parrington, perhaps because she wasn’t away for long enough.

Meanwhile, Alec was nowhere to be seen in the living room. He didn’t need his grandpa’s reminder— he had started preparing dinner in the kitchen.

There was a chef in the Old Mansion, but Old Mr. Faust allowed the chef a day off, knowing that Alec and Jenny were visiting. He wanted Alec to cook for everyone.

When he first tasted Alec’s cooking during New Year’s in Bardoff City, he belatedly realized what he had missed. Alec kept his culinary skills a secret; even Old Mr. Faust wasn’t aware of it. Had the old

man known, he would have made Alec cook for him all the time.

On the other hand, Alec was fine with doing all the work because he was willing to cook for his grandfather and Jenny. The Old Mansion was filled with love and harmony. Jenny chatted with Old Mr. Faust in the living room as Alec made dinner in the kitchen-it was the picture of a lovely family.
