Chapter 737 What Does That Have to Do with Me?

Jenny frowned, immediately realizing what a big mistake having this meal in the cafeteria was.

“Stop that nonsense! I have never been with you in the first place!” Derrick hurriedly exclaimed, worried Jenny might misunderstand.

Further angered by this statement, McKenna yelled, “We weren’t together because I hadn’t agreed to be with you yet!”

She was entirely outraged by the fact that Derrick could easily drop his pursuit of her.

“I’m sorry if my actions previously came across as being romantically interested in you, McKenna, but I truly do just see you as a sister?” Derrick explained, trying to sound sincere.

McKenna gritted her teeth. “Don’t call me that, you asshole!”

“Please just stop coming onto me, won’t you, McKenna? This is pointless!” Right now, Derrick was terrified of his image crumbling in Jenny’s eyes, so he was doing all he could to handle the situation.

Unbeknownst to him, Jenny didn’t care whatsoever. She hurriedly finished her food, longing to leave at the very next second. Who was interested in dating Derrick Clearwater? Not her.

“I’m coming onto you?” McKenna gaped, pointing at herself in shock. Their commotion had long drawn several curious eyes from across the cafeteria. Derrick was actually known to be quite frivolous with his female coworkers in the hospital. However, because he had never suggested romancing anyone besides McKenna, none of them could say or do anything.

That was also why McKenna dared to come to him for an explanation.

Derrick was deeply regretting his choices now, cursing himself for having wanted to date this woman in the first place. He wouldn’t have if it weren’t for her father’s status!

Comparatively, Jenny was the bigger fish. He sobered up at the thought, feeling the need to clear the air with Jenny.

“I’ll repeat myself again, McKenna. No matter what misunderstandings you’ve had about me in the past, I want you to know now that I have no romantic intentions.

Please stop this from now on. I don’t want us to have this unnecessary conflict anymore,” he said sternly as if McKenna was the troublemaker here.

McKenna was practically steaming out her ears. She glared at Jenny. “Are your tastes this shallow?”

Jenny shrugged. “You misunderstand. He’s just someone I know from college.”

“Someone you know from college? Hah!” McKenna didn’t buy that one bit. Jenny didn’t bother wasting her time explaining. No one in their right mind would be attracted to someone like Derrick.

“You’re crossing the line, McKenna!” Derrick yelled. The conversation wouldn’t end well if it continued.

Red with anger, McKenna stormed out of the cafeteria, leaving a wake of eyes in her direction.

Jenny glanced at her fading silhouette, sighing to herself, “Is this man even worth getting this upset over?”

Derrick suddenly said, “Please don’t listen to her, Jenny. I swear we have nothing to do with each other.”

“Oh?” Jenny set down her silverware. “But what does that have to do with me?”

It wasn’t like she cared. Even this meal was just a way to placate Derrick. Now that she had finished her food, she was ready to leave.

‘TH be leaving first.” She turned and walked out, not even saying goodbye. Good riddance, more like.
