Chapter 447: Sending Lecturers
It wasn’t as if they were abandoning those who couldn’t keep up.
On the contrary, they would put more effort into helping those who had shown potential and talent to grow by putting them under the care of a professor.
The rest would resume their university lives as normal.
“Nice to meet you. I’m a Department of Mathematic’s junior. Name’s Du Zeyang,” the guy introduced himself.
“I’m also from the same major. My name is Chi Xuanzi,” the lady said.
After greeting the two students, Tan Mo turned back to ask Professor Yao, “Did the top scorer do really well in his math score? What about the other subjects? Like Chinese, English, and comprehensive natural science?”
The mention of the top scorer’s Chinese paper immediately caught Wei Haosong’s attention.
Even Du Zeyang was restless.
He had the feeling that Tan Mo had planned to convince the top science scorer to study a Chinese major.
‘She won’t do it, right? I mean, that top scorer is a science student for God’s sake…’
Despite that, Du Zeyang still replied to Tan Mo’s question. “His language scores are okay. His writing is good but not impressive. As for the rest of the papers, since the answers can easily be memorized, we can’t tell how good he really is. As for his comprehensive natural science, he did pretty well. His chemistry is a little lacking, but he scored a perfect mark for his physics paper.”
Most people thought that Tan Mo was there to find new freshmen for the Chinese literature and history departments. Only a handful of people actually knew that Tan Mo had already joined Professor Yue’s research team. That was why Du Zeyang didn’t hold back his praises for the top scorer in terms of his comprehensive natural science papers.
“Really? That’s amazing!” Tan Mo exclaimed. Scoring a perfect mark in the physics paper meant that the top scorer could do really well on Professor Yue’s research team.
Du Zeyang didn’t find anything weird with Tan Mo’s reaction as the students who weren’t in science-related majors tended to admire those who could do well in science subjects.
Since it had nothing to do with the liberal arts majors, Du Zeyang and Chi Xuanzi told Tan Mo everything they knew about the top scorer.
Even Professor Yao did not suspect a thing.
The reason that none of them knew that Tan Mo was now part of Professor Yue’s team was that the professor did not brag as much as Professor Gu and Professor Tang did.
Even if he did, he had only told about it to a few of his colleagues, and Professor Yao never had the chance to learn about it.
The biggest reason was that Professor Gu and Professor Tang had gone a little overboard with their brags on having Tan Mo on their teams.
Now, most of the university’s professors, especially those from the liberal arts majors, avoided meeting Professor Tang and Professor Gu as much as they could. Otherwise, they had to hear all about how these two professors got Tan Mo to join their teams again.
Of course, the biggest reason why these professors didn’t want to hear the two professors brag was that they were jealous.
They were angry at the fact that they didn’t have someone as talented as Tan Mo on their teams.
The one who was the angriest had to be Professor He from the Department of Finance.
He couldn’t believe that not only had one of his students not contribute to his research team, but she also went to help the teams from other majors.
Tan Mo’s achievement could be seen everywhere in the university except the Department of Finance.
Other than that, the papers Tan Mo handed in for her courses were pretty mediocre.
Professor He even talked to Tan Mo about that. She replied that she had already done her best and there was nothing that she could do about it.
The professor almost went crazy after hearing that Tan Mo had already become the best researcher in both the history and Chinese literature departments, but she was nothing more than a mere student in the Department of Finance.
As the conversation between Tan Mo and the two Department of Mathematic’s students went on, the buses arrived.
“Alright. All aboard!” Professor Yao ordered.
After leaving their luggage by the side of the bus, the students boarded while the driver helped put the luggage into the compartment below the bus.
Since Tan Mo had no intention of sitting next to Lin Fuxi, she quickly went to sit down next to Song Mingqi.
Her action only helped Song Mingqi confirm that she was on bad terms with Lin Fuxi.
Instead of asking Tan Mo, Song Mingqi secretly texted her friend from the Department of Finance, who also happened to be Tan Mo’s classmate, Zhao Xiaoou.
It didn’t take long for Zhao Xiaoou to answer Song Mingqi’s question.
He even told her everything that Lin Fuxi had done during classes.
Now, Song Mingqi finally had a brief understanding of what kind of a person Lin Fuxi was.
‘See, there’s no way my idol is in the wrong here!’
Now that the confusion was cleared, Song Mingqi talked to Tan Mo without any reserve on their way to the airport.
Other than Professor Yao, two other lecturers were with them. To be more precise, these two lecturers were the actual team leaders while Professor Yao was there to give suggestions and help out with the team.
Coincidentally, one of the lecturers was Mr. Sun, the same lecturer who had led the team to the Ancient Text Competition that Tan Mo had participated in.
As for the other lecturer, Tan Mo was acquainted with him as well.
He was Mr. Hu, the one who helped guide Hua University’s students and teachers during the exchange between the two universities in Tan Mo’s sophomore year.
Tan Mo couldn’t help but suspect that these two lecturers were arranged to lead her team by Professor Gu and Professor Tang.
Since the two professors could not join them, they were worried that their students, Song Mingqi and Wei Haosong, were too young to be cunning enough. That was why they had arranged for Mr. Sun and Mr. Hu to join them.
Tan Mo shook her head and sighed as she finally understood why Professor Yue kept calling the other two professors cunning old foxes.
Compared to them, Professor Yue was way humbler.
However, Tan Mo believed that Professor Gu and Professor Tang did not do anything wrong.
What Professor Yue should really do was to learn how to be even more cunning.
He should’ve learned from his colleagues and sent one of his lecturers as well as the representative for the Department of Aerospace Engineering.
On the other hand, Tan Mo could tell how hard it was for someone as humble as Professor Yue to be among Professor Tang and Professor Gu.
She could already tell the former often got bullied by the other two professors.
At the very least, Professor Yue managed to send Tan Mo to represent his major while the other professors didn’t even get to have a chat with her.
With that, Tan Mo decided to at least let the humble Professor Yue know about the situation and texted him. “Professor, Professor Gu has sent Mr. Sun, and Professor Tang has sent Mr. Hu to lead my team.”
When Professor Yue saw the message, he was utterly speechless.
“I’ll send someone over too!” Professor Yue replied right away.
“Um… Isn’t it a little too late?”
“No, there’s still time! I’ll have him head straight to Jiaoyuan City to meet up with your team. I’ll go to Professor Mu right away!”
Tan Mo looked at the reply and sighed.
These professors sure were headstrong.
She couldn’t help but sympathize with President Mu. That was why even the president was so cunning.
If he wasn’t, he would never be able to win against these professors.
In the end, Tan Mo replied with a thumbs-up emoji.
