When the five of them reached the maze, Qin Murong was still passed out on the ground.
Qin Zhengdu beckoned, “Take her away!”
Thus, the two men pulled Qin Murong up. One of them held her steady as the other man carried her on his back.
Quietly, they took Qin Murong back to the room.
The makeup artist in the room was also instructed by Qin Zhengdu to keep her lips sealed.
Qin Murong’s hair had not been done up properly yet, but now that she was comatose, the makeup artist did not know what to do about it.
Now that Qin Murong was safe and sound, Qin Zhengdu’s anger returned.
He ordered the men to sit Qin Murong on the chair facing the dressing table and said to the makeup artist, “Just do her hair like this. Don’t worry about it.”
Qin Murong was still unconscious, so her head was tilted sideways. It was quite a challenge for the stylist to carry out her work.
“But she’s still in a coma. Can she even go out for the toast later?” Qin Muye wondered. “It shouldn’t matter if her hair was done or not, right?”
Qin Zhengdu kept quiet.
He looked around and saw that Qin Muye and Tan Mo had followed them into the room.
“Why did you follow us in here?” Qin Zhengdu was dejected when he saw them.
Those two were nothing but troublemakers.
Moreover, whenever the two of them caused trouble, it was always their family that had to bear the consequences.
“I had to make sure that my cousin was okay.” Qin Muye had accumulated some experience in dealing with Qin Zhengdu’s family over the years. “After all, we were the ones who concussed her. We needed to see that she’s okay before we can be at ease. Otherwise, our little hearts would be wallowing in guilt.”
Qin Zhengdu was speechless.
‘Enough with that bullsh*t story! Who are they trying to kid?’
The way Qin Muye said it was earnest as if she had really done so.
As they were talking at the side, Qin Murong began to slowly regain her consciousness.
Barely opening her eyes, she groaned from the searing pain in the back of her neck. Finally, with her eyes wide open, she found herself seated before the makeup mirror once again.
Memories flashed through her mind. She saw herself rushing out of the guest room, then the vision of the back garden maze appeared.
The image of Wei Zhiqian and Tan Mo embracing each other froze in her mind.
All the images connected together in her head like it was just a dream.
“Big Sister, you’re awake!” Qin Muye yelled out in a caring and concerned manner as if they were actually sisters.
Right then, Qin Murong had her eyes wide open.
When she saw Qin Muye and Tan Mo, she was completely awakened.
It also made her recall that the flashbacks in her mind had not been a dream.
Qin Murong opened her mouth, ready to spill the beans about what was going on between Wei Zhiqian and Tan Mo.
But she couldn’t make a sound.
No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t let out a squeak.
Qin Murong looked at Qin Zhengdu in a panic. What was happening to her?
Why had she suddenly become mute?
Qin Zhengdu was taken aback. “Murong, are you okay?”
Qin Murong could only open her mouth silently. She couldn’t even let out a simple sound of, “Ah.”
Qin Murong stared at Qin Zhengdu in horror and pointed to her mouth.
The expression on Qin Zhengdu’s face suddenly changed. “What do you mean? Can you not speak?”
Qin Murong opened her mouth and shook her head vigorously.
She didn’t know what was going on either.
All she did was go to the maze and had run into Wei Zhiqian and Tan Mo.
After that, Wei Zhiqian seemed to have knocked her out.
Why did she wake up suddenly unable to speak?
She was perfectly fine before.
Qin Zhengdu’s face darkened. He pondered it for a while. He then called old Mister Qin to tell him about Qin Murong’s condition.
“It’s not such a bad thing that she lost her voice. At least she won’t be spouting nonsense today.” Qin Zhengdu never expected that the old Mister Qin would answer him so.
“Knowing Qin Murong, she might likely blabber some nonsense and upset the Hus. If this wedding is ruined by her big mouth, our two families will end up becoming enemies.”
Qin Zhengdu agreed with old Mister Qin’s words. “But if Murong can’t utter a single word, would the Hu family end up hating us because they might think we were sending over a dumb woman to them?”
Old Mister Qin pursed his lips for a while. He then blew on his beard. “The Hu family did not decide to marry Qin Murong because Hu Ruixing fancied her. They only wanted her so that they would be linked to the Qins. It wouldn’t have mattered if Qin Murong was deaf or blind.”
“If Qin Murong happened to be a stunner, then it would be a bonus to Hu Ruixing. But if Qin Murong was flawed in any way, they’d probably treat her as a trophy wife.” Hu Ruixing was free to carry on with whatever he pleased on the outside.
The Hu family could care less, and Qin Murong had no say in it either.
“How is Qin Murong doing right now?” Old Mister Qin asked.
“She just realized that she had suddenly lost her voice, so she’s a little unstable right now.” Qin Zhengdu glanced at Qin Murong.
“Don’t let her go out for the toast.” Old Mister Qin decided. “Even if she wasn’t muted, she might have a scowl on her face when she goes out to give the toast. People will see right through her. Since she has a good reason not to be there, just don’t let her show up.”
“Have someone keep an eye on her. If she tries to a make run for it again, don’t blame me if I have to hand Qin Muxiao over instead.” Old Mister Qin gave a ruthless warning.
Having followed in Qin Murong’s footsteps, Qin Muxiao had caused quite some trouble in the past too.
After witnessing the consequences Qin Murong had to face, Qin Muxiao had been very well behaved lately.
Qin Zhengdu immediately panicked when he heard that.
He had already compensated for their mischief by sacrificing Qin Murong. He couldn’t allow Qin Muxiao to be tossed out too.
Qin Zhengdu warned Qin Murong with cold eyes, “You heard what he said. If you still have the slightest concern for your sister, then don’t try running away again.”
Qin Zhengdu was still worried.
He was mainly worried about what little Qin Muxiao’s sisterhood meant to Qin Murong.
He was worried that Qin Murong might not care about her sister at all and insist on fleeing, leaving Qin Muxiao to be her replacement.
“You two, keep an eye on her!” Qin Zhengdu instructed the two men.
“Yes, Sir.” They both nodded.
“As for Qin Murong’s sudden inability to speak, you should also explain it to the Hu family so they won’t think that we deliberately deceived them when they find out the truth,” Old Mister Qin said. “There must be a reason why she suddenly lost her voice. When she gets to Nacheng later, she can have it checked out and go for necessary treatment.”
Qin Murong opened her mouth but couldn’t make a sound.
She shook her head vigorously.
She wanted to be treated in B City. There was no way the medical care in Nacheng could be good enough.
Seeing Qin Murong panicking frantically, Tan Mo and Qin Muye walked out feeling content.
In the end, Qin Murong was not able to give her toast, leaving Hu Ruixing to do it alone.
But he was still smiling from ear to ear, looking proud and happy. He had not even mentioned Qin Murong’s sudden inability to join him in giving their toast together.
“Look at that Hu Ruixing. Do you think he really doesn’t mind?” Qin Muye stared at Hu Ruixing. With his polite demeanor, he seemed like an understanding fellow.
He seemed completely unperturbed by the fact that Qin Murong was nowhere to be seen and was the only one giving his toast.
“How can he not mind? You said that he has deadly eyes, and your old madam practically called him a savage. How can a man like that tolerate others disobeying him, especially after knowing that Qin Murong was unwilling to marry him and had tried to run away?” Tan Mo asked.
“But he doesn’t know that, right?” Qin Muye asked with a naive look on her face.
“If the bride doesn’t make an appearance, do you think he’d actually let it slide without investigating the reason?” Tan Mo asked.
