Chapter 196 - “Have Xiuxiu quit her job and come help us out? That’s not right.” (1)
A wind blew and ruffled up Shu Yan’s bangs. She put down her stuff, pulled all of her hair back, put her hat back on, then picked up all of her bags and continued to head toward home.
“Mom.” JingJing was very happy when she saw her mother home. She jogged over to Shu Yan and took from Shu Yan what she could carry.
JingJing’s hair has already reached her ears and was now much softer than before. At least it wouldn’t stick straight up anymore. Come summer, she should be able to tie it up. Ever since they had arrived at City Nan, Shu Yan had been giving her nutrient supplements. JingJing had gained a lot of weight and her skin a lighter tone. Mainly there was a pink glow on her and she finally looked like a healthy little girl.
“I’ve bought some clothes for you two. Come over and try them on.” Shu Yan noticed that her fall sets were being sold at the children’s clothes market when she went over there. She regretted that that had slipped her mind. Then, immediately, she realized she was being too ambitious. There would always be more ways to make money; she couldn’t possibly cover them all. She should just focus on completing what was on hand.
Two sets of fall outfits for each of them, two knitted sweaters, one knitted jacket, vests, cotton-padded tops and bottoms. They filled a big bag.
“Mom, this is too much.” JingJing’s eyes widened when she saw all the clothes that Shu Yan had pulled up after she had tried on the fall outfit.
“Not that much. You might need more for winter time as well. There’s a lot from top to bottom. They just look a lot, but you still might not have enough when the time comes.” It was cold in the winter time and clothes didn’t dry very fast when there was no sun. Two sets just might not be enough. She didn’t want the master to wait for her today so she only went to a couple stores. She’d bring back two more sets for each of them next time she went.
“Whose are these?” JingJing was looking into another bag. Inside of it was two sets of fall outfits, a blue one and a pink one. Two men’s jacket, a pair of pants, a girl’s jacket and a skirt. The girl’s set was the same as the one that she had on but different color. Hers was red and the set in the bag was pink.
“These are for Zhang Chenghan and Wang Yitong. Their mothers have been very nice to you and always help me pick you up when I am busy. So I bought them these as a token of my appreciation. I noticed that Wang Yitong wears a lot of pink so I bought her a pink set.” Shu Yan looked for a couple pretty paper bags, refolded the clothes and put them inside of the bags.
“That’s alright. I happen to like red too,” said JingJing with a smile.
Shu Yan raised her brows. She knew that JingJing liked pink too. It was a pretty color but would get dirty easily, which was why she opted for a pink set and the other set was black. Seeing JingJing’s reaction, Shu Yan planned to get her a pink jacket next time.
After lunch, Shu Yan brought the two kids over to Wu Xiuyue’s place first. They, too, had just finished lunch.
“Oh, you are back already? Have you had lunch yet? If not, having something at my place. Noodles won’t take long.” And she was about to get up and head toward the kitchen.
“No, it’s fine. We’ve ate already. It’s almost winter. I noticed a children’s clothing market next to my merchandizing place in City Han. Their quality is quite good and much cheaper than what you will find at the stores. I brought Hanhan a couple sets. Give them a try. If they don’t fit I will bring them back and exchange them when I go back next week.” Shu Yan quickly stopped her and handed the clothes over to her. “You know those fall sets that are very popular lately? I’ve picked the 100% cotton ones. They can be used as pajamas at night and also use as the inner layer in the day time. When it gets colder, you can add sweater and sweatpants over it. They are not pricky and quite handy.”
