Chapter 220 - "Boss, did you drink?" (3)

Listening to what they were talking about, Chen Fei accidentally drank more than he had intended. Filling his glass one more time, he insisted on toasting with Feng Zeyu. “Ah, our background is so similar. My old man, too, brought back a new woman shortly after my mom was gone. At least your dad raised you. Mine wouldn’t even do that. If it wasn’t for my grandparents, I’d have starved to death way before now.”

“Everybody had their own tough stories. Brother Feng and this Brother Chen, here’s to you two.” Having said that, Lao Hu raised his glass and downed it.

“And one from me as well,” said Zhang Huafeng as he raised his glass and let out a burp. “The day your name is cleared shall come.”

A few of these at the table were already drink. They would not otherwise talk like this. Feng Zeyu, on the other hand, was not one of them. He drank wine like it was water. He was just remaining silent was all. After he had toasted with the men, he downed his glass, gave Shu Yan a sideway look, his lips curved upward, and he said, “It shall, indeed.”

After lunch, Lao Zhang and his wife still needed to take care of work at the factory so they bid their farewell. The motel couple also needed to head back to their business and also took off. Zhang Huafeng and Chen Fei were both drunk so Wu Xiuyue and Zhang Huaxiu each have to bring one of them back with them. Lao Hu, too, was drunk. Feng Zeyu was the one with the responsibility to get him home safely. Hu Ruiyang had received a call half way through and was long gone. Only Hu Ruixue and Lin Hui stayed behind to help out.

Looking around at the messy place, Shu Yan said, “You guy go. I will take care of this slowly.”

“What are you talking about? It will take you forever to clean this up on your own,” said Lin Hui as she rolled up her sleeves and started picking up the bowls and plates.

Hu Ruixue did not like doing dishes so she helped with picking up the chairs, sweeping, and mopping.

The two children were docile and would help out within their means. Shu Yan looked over at them and sent them back to their rooms. “You haven’t done your summer vacation homework yet. Shoo, go back to your rooms.”

Without the two children, the three adults were working even more efficiently. As she was picking up, Lin Hui couldn’t help but asked, “Did Feng Zeyu really save you?”

“Of course he did. How else would I dare to invite him over for lunch at my place?”

“What I have also heard was that those people had contacted his parents in the middle of the night before and had them spread rumors and ruin his reputation publicly. That way they could really nail him for being a hooligan and manslaughter.”

Shu Yan’s hands stopped what they were doing. “All this for their house.”

“No, Feng Zeyu’s grandparent’s house. His grandparents wanted to leave it to their older grandson but his stepmother didn’t want that to happen. What we have heard was that Feng Zeyu had moved his household register out. Some said he had it under the old lady’s name; other said he moved it out independently. There were all sorts of saying. But that Feng Zeyu was a mighty one. He had his grandfather moved the house under his name when he turned 18. Not even his dad or his stepmother knew about this. They only found out after he had moved his household register out. When his stepmother went to slam on his door, he straight up called the cops. Can you believe that?” said Lin Hui excitedly.

“I would too if it was me.” Did he need to repay all her bad needs with kindness? What was him? Crazy?

The cleaning took almost two hours bfore the house returned to its clean state. There were more to take care of at work so Hu Ruixue also washed her hands and took off. Lin Hui and Shu Yan still need to moved her stuff back to her place.

After dropping off Lao Hu at home, Feng Zeyu turned to leave. Truth was, he had never felt desperate. He mainly stayed behind because the old lady needed someone to take care of her. He had promised his comrade that he would look after her until she passed away.

Turning a corner, a car parked at a more remote location. Feng Zeyu got into the passenger seat.

“Boss, you had alcohol?”

“A little bit. Let’s head back to the office.”
