Chapter 272 - That made Aunty sighed about different fates between different people. (2)
“This wholesale market is very well-known nationwide so many come here for wholesales. That’s why you see so many people here.” Shu Yan looked around but did not see the big sister. She was a little disappointed. The big sister never called her and she had no way of finding out what was going with her. “Let’s go.”
Shu Yan dragged Wu Xiuyue with her as she pressed inward. Slowly, it turned into Wu Xiuyue who was dragging Shu Yan with her. When it came to squeezing past people, Wu Xiuyue was obviously leaps and bounds better than Shu Yan.
Shu Yan had already explained the fighting over merchandize process to Wu Xiuyue on their ride over. She paid particular attentions at the beginning then realizing that Wu Xiuyue was much more aggressive than her. Almost giving a this-is-mine-and-nobody-else’s feel. Shu Yan was just about to remind her when she saw someone reaching out with a pair of scissors when she saw Wu Xiuyue already stomped on that person’s foot, causing her to recoil from pain.
When the two were done and came back out panting, Wu Xiuyue smiled at her loot and said, “This is even worse than when my mother had to fight for meat at the supply place when I was a kid.”
Shu Yan gave her a thumbs up. “You are shrewd.”
Much like how the big sister had initiated Shu Yan in the past, Shu Yan brought Wu Xiuyue to meet each and every one of the bosses at the shops and asked them to look after Wu Xiuyue.
Wu Xiuyue was much better at this than Shu Yan as well. She bartered for Shu Yan when Shu Yan was picking up more merchandizes. What Shu Yan thought was already cheap enough was knocked down a few more cents.
“You are so shrewd,” said Shu Yan wholeheartedly.
Wu Xiuyue lifted up her chin. “I have to go to the market to buy groceries every day. If I don’t barter, they will take every penny that I have.”
Shu Yan, who never bartered when she went to the market, felt that she had been mocked.
It was the change of the season and Shu Yan brought Wu Xiuyue with her to the child clothing market. Wu Xiuyue only bought a jacket and two pairs of pants. Shu Yan, on the other hand, bought a lot more. After all, her two children had no spring outfits at all.
“You bought too much.”
“I didn’t bring any spring clothing with me.”
The two returned to City Nan after breakfast and Wu Xiuyue went over to Shu Yan’s shop with her. This was the first time Wu Xiuyue visited Shu Yan’s shop. Wu Xiuyue couldn’t help but exclaimed when she saw Shu Yan’s shop, “Your shop is so beautiful. Will mine really look like yours when it is done?”
“Chen Fei designed my shop and it was also his team who put it all together. I am sure he would pay even more attention to yours and that it would look even better than mine.”
“Are you tired, sister-in-law?” asked Zhang Huaxiu when she brought out two glasses of water.
“I am fine. That wholesale market was humongous. Had Shu Yan not been with me, I wouldn’t even know how to get back out once I was inside of it.” Wu Xiuyue was too excited to look tired at all.
Wu Xiuyue helped with pulling out all of the clothes and participated attentively from inventory to matching to placing them onto the shelf. This was a rare learning opportunity.
They arrived City Nan at 10 AM and finished putting everything away by noon. Shu Yan’s shop made several hundred of yuan’s worth of clothing in the two short hours. Wu Xiuyue was particularly excited, as though she was the one who made all those money.
“How did it feel?” asked Shu Yan with a smile.
“Very nice. I wish my shop could open soon.”
“Your shop will as much business as mine.” Shu Yan had the others help brought the remaining merchandised back into the storeroom in the back.
“I hope so. I’ll be happy if it is does even half as well as yours,” said Wu Xiuyue with a sigh.
Shu Yan lifted her brows. Half of what she did was not shabby at all. She was doing 1,700 – 1,800 yuan of business a day. Half of that would be 800 – 900 yuan, that was almost 10,000 yuan a month. Back in ’93, that was more than what a lot of people make in an entire year.
Granted, Shu Yan wasn’t going to be that party pooper.
