Transmigrating into the Male Supporting Character’s Ex-wife

Chapter 4: Ruan Jiu Jiu didn’t care the least bit about what Xiang Rong thought.

Chapter 4: Ruan Jiu Jiu didn’t care the least bit about what Xiang Rong thought.

Ruan Jiu Jiu didn’t care the least bit about what Xiang Rong thought.

Today, her goal was to cut ties with them and dash all of their hopes of getting any money.

“But this isn’t the most important matter. Xiong Rang is a lively person in these circles. It can’t be that he’s going to be upset over this, right?”

Ruan Jiu Jiu’s voice was soft and gentle. “Worst case, Li Yun can take my place.”

The remark hit the bullseye and Li Yun stiffened. She anxiously cast a glance at Xiang Rong.

She thought that Ruan Jiu Jiu would be dumb enough to not discover that she and Xiang Rong once had a thing. Now, it looks like she knew everything.

Ruan Jiu Jiu folded her arms and looked at the two of them.

“As for me… Yesterday, I ran some figures. Originally, we did a joint investment in a project. I put down all of my savings and even borrowed from others. It’s been this long and the project is still running at a loss. Where’s the account books?”

“Uh… that uh… The records are still with the accountant. Don’t panic just yet…”

“No worries. I’m in no rush.”

Ruan Jiu Jiu shook her head and pretended to be down. “It’s just that the situation might be a little hard to explain to my husband. Because I wanted to divorce, my accounts were investigated. There’s a huge amount of money that’s unaccounted for. There’s talks of filing a police report or hiring a lawyer. It’d help if you were a little quicker.”

“Hey hey hey! You can’t do that!”

Sun Lan, who was sitting on the sofa, couldn’t hold it in anymore. Before Li Yun could even get up, she panicked. “Tomorrow I’ll run the numbers and transfer the money to you. I’ll also return the initial capital. Is that okay?”

They knew that when the original Ruan Jiu Jiu divorced, she wouldn’t get the house. That’s why she planned to get shares of Cheng Corporation.

Originally they planned that after Ruan Jiu Jiu divorced, they would use the project losses as an excuse to ask for the shares as compensation. But now….Welp, they tried to benefit but only ended up worse off.

Cheng Corporation wasn’t a big company but it was worth in the tens of millions. It had good potential. With what Ruan Jiu Jiu said, they mistakenly assumed that the CEO of Cheng Corporation discovered their schemes and pulled some strings.

After bumbling about, Ruan Jiu Jiu just so happened to hit the mark.

Ruan Jiu Jiu didn’t expect it to turn out this well. After being stunned for a split second, she regained her composure and calmly nodded.

“It’ll benefit the both of us this way.”

She seemed calm, as if everything was in the palm of her hand. This demeanor scared the two. They wish they had thrown the investment capital back at the original Ruan Jiu Jiu.

After the talks were over, Ruan Jiu Jiu didn’t plan to stay for long. She picked up her shopping bags and turned to leave, but she was quickly followed and blocked in the hallway.

It was pretty boy Xiang Rong.

Ruan Jiu Jiu coldly looked at him. “What do you want now?”

Xiang Rong gritted his teeth and stared holes into the woman in front of him who had changed so much. He had originally planned to dump this trashy woman. But now he was feeling regret. He couldn’t sit still with that feeling.

“You aren’t afraid of me taking revenge?” He narrowed his eyes.

“Exactly how are you going to do that?” Ruan Jiu Jiu sighed. “You think I didn’t know about you and Li Yun’s little matter? Before, I didn’t want to say it. Now, I can’t be bothered. Xiang Rong, a woman is the most vicious when she doesn’t love you.”

She spoke lightly, like an ephemeral breeze that passes in a blink of the eye.

“You already have no way of taking revenge on me.”

“….”

Hearing this last phrase, Xiang Rong stood frozen in place. He looked at that beautiful clear complexion that once was masked in makeup. Those eyes no longer looked at him with a burning passion. Her smiles were cold enough to make him shiver.

Xiang Rong dazedly stared at Ruan Jiu Jiu’s departing figure. He suddenly thought, “Does she hate me?”

He thought of when he used to mock her and play with her. He was like a prickly hedgehog that didn’t care about how others reacted. He wanted to use his sharp needles to prick everyone black and blue all over.

But now a small thorn lightly pricked his heart, but unexpectedly he didn’t know how to respond.

……

Ruan Jiu Jiu silently gave herself a round of applause inside.

After acting out a big show as if possessed by a spirit she was quite cheerful. Especially after seeing Xiang Rong’s pretty little face looking so stupid, she almost couldn’t hold herself back from laughing out out.

Just let this little narcissus flower drown itself in its own love affair. She still has to go back and cook dinner.

With this thought in mind, Ruan Jiu Jiu took out her cell phone, and after scrolling through Wechat for quite a while, finally found Cheng Jun’s name.

After a moment of hesitation, Ruan Jiu Jiu sent out a short message.

[What do you want to eat for dinner?]

These days they were busy with beta testing the game because after opening the servers, the amount of users was too large, plus it was almost the Qixi Festival holiday so they were preparing to introduce the new marriage system update. With the marketing efforts also sending out one ad after another, they were swamped to the point that they couldn’t finish anything on time.

Today, they had finally completed their tasks, and after hearing that the big boss whom they typically couldn’t catch a single glimpse of was actually staying at the company, the young women in the company were getting excited. They all wanted to see the appearance of the big boss with their own eyes.

In the break room, a handful of employees were fighting over who would deliver a cup of coffee to the boss. At this time, a beautiful figure wearing a long white skirt walked up. To everyone’s amazement and awe, it was the beautiful and sophisticated An Rou. She gave a small smile and took the cup of coffee, saying, “I will take care of this, you guys can get off work.”

The group of the staff members immediately surrendered in disappointment, resentfully watching her stroll away.

“How nice, I also need to work harder to get promoted so I can see the big boss. I’ve heard that he’s super hot!”

“But I’ve also heard that the boss is apparently already married.”

“No way—”

“If he’s married, why would Manager An Rou be so attentive, does she want to be a homewrecker?”

……

……

Holding the coffee, An Rou walked into the conference room.

Tu Nan was in the middle of analyzing some data, and a few people were sitting in a circle around the table. The most eye catching of them sat at one corner in a gray hoodie, his eyes downcast. His long, slender eyes seemed a bit indifferent, and it was hard to tell what he was thinking.

His phone suddenly buzzed, and he swiped the screen to take a look but unexpectedly didn’t put it back down.

He stared at the phone’s screen for a long time, and his behavior was so peculiar that even Tu Nan forgot what he was talking about, instead secretly taking a look in Cheng Jun’s direction. The others all stared at Cheng Jun, including An Rou who had just entered. With a brief thought, she arranged her hair a little more loosely to give herself a more lively impression.

“……”

Cheng Jun’s slender fingers rapidly tapped out something on his screen, and hit send.

Cheng Jun slowly lifted his head, to be met with a group of gossiping spectators looking at him with interest. With a flat expression he said, “No overtime tonight.”

“Boss, what sort of plans do you have?” Tu Nan’s inquiry represented the inner thoughts of this group of bachelors.

Cheng Jun closed the file.

“Going home for dinner.”

The group of bachelors first responded with silent shock, and then immediately followed up with howls of resentment.

“My God, there are still wives in the 21st century who call their husbands home for dinner! Please stop showing off!”

“Boss, I’m begging you to describe what sister-in-law’s food tastes like! I’ve only seen this before on the internet!”

“Apologies, I completely can’t understand what sort of godly lifestyle this is.”

“I’m crying, I reject reality.”

The group of male bachelors wailed despairingly. Ever since entering the IT industry, even those who weren’t single turned into singles, they all wanted to settle down too!

Alone, An Rou gripped the paper cup of the coffee. Despite the heat burning her palm she showed no reaction, her smile stiff.

?

Dinner.

Ruan Jiu Jiu specially prepared three dishes and a soup to reward Cheng Jun.

They were very synchronized during dinner, Ruan Jiu Jiu was in charge of cooking, Cheng Jun was responsible for the dishes; Ruan Jiu Jiu ate a small bowl, Cheng Jun cleanly finished off the rest.

Ruan Jiu Jiu looked at Cheng Jun, who had his head buried in his food. She felt accomplished and a sense of happiness from his implicit approval.

Unlike other people who had drastic reactions to Ruan Jiu Jiu’s before and after, Cheng Jun was indifferent. He wasn’t the least bit scared. This made Ruan Jiu Jiu mistakenly feel like he was looking past her outer shell and directly at her soul.

After dinner, Ruan Jiu Jiu sat on the sofa playing games on her phone.

Cheng Jun did the dishes in the pink apron dotted with little flowers that she bought for him. It was a weirdly cute look. Ruan Jiu Jiu had to press down her hand and quietly tell herself not to give it a smack.

Only

She was a bit bored. She took some paper out of the drawer to practice.

She hadn’t drawn in a while. Ruan Jiu Jiu almost couldn’t get the hang of it. The pen strokes slowly started taking shape. Under Ruan Jiu Jiu’s imagination, a cute chibi figure wearing an apron appeared on the paper. She drew it really cute, and the chibi looked a little dumb and clumsy in a cute way. It had an ahoge sticking out of its head.

After finishing, Ruan Jiu Jiu received news from Li Yun, saying that she wanted to send over the financial ledgers. She glanced at Cheng Jun who was still lazily scrubbing away at the dishes. She put down her pen and went to look over the books in high spirits.

Cheng Jun took off his apron and walked over to the study.

As he passed the living room sofa, he noticed an eye-catching drawing of a chibi figure on the coffee table.

He paused in his tracks.
