Nathan Caroule nodded with a smile.

“That’s right, I had someone dig into it and the result is surprising. It turns out that United Ventures once had William Bailes’ company within its investment scope.”

Considering the performance and prospects of William Bailes’ company, it’s not surprising that United Ventures took an interest.

“Guess what happened next?”

Reflecting on Royce Gyons’ unconventional approach to doing things, Richelle Dunn guessed, “Did Mr. Gyons uncover something questionable about William Bailes?”

Nathan shook his head. “I guess even William Bailes and his team may not have seen this coming initially.”

“Initially, the person who approached them for investment was a Thompson.”

At the mentioning of this surname, Richelle understood.

“So, it was the Thompsons and The Lilliputs who wanted to invest in their company, but they were declined?”

Nathan nodded, “Exactly, William Bailes must have known some unsavory details about the Thompsons and The Lilliputs. He was afraid that they would exploit the hard-earned fruit of their labor and creativity for money laundering, so he flatly declined.”

“Then, after he rejected that collaboration, no other capital dared to invest in them.”

Richelle clicked her tongue, “That’s ruthless. They couldn’t have it so they wouldn’t let anyone else thrive. But I’ve got to say, William Bailes is quite the man!”

Nathan said, “You can say that again! Their determination is quite admirable. They’ve been operating on a small scale with minor investments for the past few years and their profits have been considerable. So, one can imagine how much money they would have foregone by rejecting this collaboration.”

Richelle agreed, “The films produced by their company have an excellent reputation. With each film, the reputation builds up and even though the box office performance of the initial films was only above average, that was due to a lack of excessive capital for operations. With the right influx of funds, coupled with their already established reputation, producing a blockbuster shouldn’t be a challenge for them.”

Nathan chuckled, “Exactly, that’s why I said you have stumbled upon a goldmine.”

Richelle spread her hands and laughed at herself.

“What can I say, I’m just lucky. All I wanted was to invest in some niche animations, but who knew I’d end up investing in a production company.”

If Fenny Watts’ animation is a watermelon, then William Bailes’ company is a field full of ripe melons.”

But Nathan shook his head.

“I think that the one blessed by Lady Luck is not you, but William Bailes. Lewis Group has never invested in film and television so there was no way this collaboration could have happened without you. He, on the other hand, was merely investing in a low-budget animation and then he happened across you.”

“I have to admit, he’s well-timed and knows how to seize an opportunity. As soon as he learned about your identity, he sprang into action. You must be the only one in the entire Federation who’d risk investing in him. That’s why the terms he proposed were very favourable to us.”

Richelle agreed, “That’s right, I was initially surprised too. Given their company’s earning ability, they could have easily offered us a lower share of the profits. Now it seems they felt suppressed with no prospects in sight over these past few years. That’s why they offered us the most generous terms from the onset, hoping we could help them out of their predicament.”

Nathan sighed.

“It goes to show, it’s a survival of the fittest out there, companies lower on the food chain hardly have a say.”

Concerned that he might link the fate of these corporations to his own personal experiences, Richelle quickly changes the topic.

“Why did United Ventures pass on the chance? Knowing what type of person Royce Gyons is, he wouldn’t likely be persuaded by the Thompsons and The Lilliputs, right?”

It seemed Nathan too had the same question.

“I asked Denise about the reason the final deal didn’t come through, and she said that Mr. Gyons didn’t want the trouble.”

Richelle was still puzzled, “In East Asia, I can see how the Thompsons and The Lilliputs could impact them, but United Ventures is in South Asia, surely they don’t have that much reach?”

Nathan laughed, “That I can’t tell you, maybe you could ask Mr. Gyons directly, you might be able to get to the bottom of it.”

Richelle throws him a glare.

“You’re just enjoying the drama. Don’t you know how sensitive Roy Lewis is when it comes to Royce Gyons?”

Nathan bursts out laughing, “It’s because I know, that I’m egging you on to contact Mr. Gyons. Roy is so stressed out now, he needs some external factors to help alleviate the pressure.”

Richelle rolled her eyes at him, “He could just give you a good beating and that would do the trick, why all this runaround?”

Nathan replied in all seriousness.

“That won’t work, I’m afraid of pain! And despite how it seems, Roy and I have a really strong bond.”

Richelle laughed.

“Your strong bond won’t stop him from beating you up, right? A solid beating and then making up would just reinforce the strong bond between you two.”

Nathan clicked his tongue.

“Dr. Dunn, no wonder Roy has been getting naughtier lately. Turns out he’s been learning from you.”

Richelle didn’t deny it.

“You call that naughty? I call it lively! You of all people should know that Roy used to be Master Lewis; always playing by the book, proper and stiff. Now he’s mellowed a bit, I think he’s just right!”
