Book 3: Chapter 1 (5/7)

Finwe flew through the portal to come back into his realm and Kain immediately closed it after that. Kain had given Finwe a High-tier Advancement Potion and one out of two Soul Advancement Stones he had. Kain smiled and thought to himself, “I’m glad Finwe has decided to grow up and take responsibility for his people instead of hiding in mountains like a monk ignoring all of his problems.”

Kain then flexed his Vampire Wings and attempted to fly toward Hearlen city to meet up with Ariana as he had told her that he would. But because Kain was flying too fast, he caught up to Ariana when she was still at Millow city, just ten miles from the area where he last saw her.

Landed in front of Ariana, Kain said, “Can those stupid Eagle-kin Demi-Humans escort the slaves without you?”

Ariana immediately nodded her head, turned toward the Eagle-kins, and said, “You guys will escort the slaves from here on, I have to go.”

One of the Eagle-kin said, “Ma’am, you should-”

“Shut up!”

Ariana walked toward Kain and warmly said, “Uncle Kain, I’m ready to go to Benil city with you now.”

“Good.”

Kain grabbed Ariana’s waist and flew away at a very fast speed. Ariana thought about using her [Wind Walk] spell to fly but Kain’s flying speed was at least five times faster compared to her [Wind Walk] spell. Also, Ariana enjoyed the feeling of Kain’s hand holding her waist that was why she didn't show any objections.

She put her head closer to Kain’s neck and whispered, “Uncle Kain, where have you been for the past three hundred years? The Guildmaster personally went to look for you many times but couldn’t find you anywhere.”

Kain said, “I was busy handling some adult stuff. A kid like you should remain quiet and don’t ask any stupid questions, understand?”

“Yes, Uncle Kain.” Ariana remained quiet as she wrapped her hands around Kain’s neck even tighter.

Less than five hours later, Kain arrived at Benil city as he flew over the high wall into the city and landed in front of a palace. Kain asked, “Is this the place?”

Ariana was enjoying her time too much and didn't know Kain had arrived at Benil city. Ariana opened her eyes and said, “No, Uncle Kain. This is the Emperor’s Palace.”

The Demi-Humans city guards saw a man flying through the wall, panicked, and rang the alarm bell, signaling the whole city to be on high alert while The Imperial Guards gathered to protect the Emperor. Less than thirty seconds later, at least a hundred thousand Demi-Humans who wore Imperial Guard uniforms surrounded Kain and Ariana with their weapons drawn in front of the Emperor's Palace.

One of the Dragon-kin Demi-Human seemed to be the leader of those a hundred thousand Imperial Guards asked Kain, “Are you a human? Who are you? What brought you to Benil city?”

Kain didn’t want to waste time answering these questions, he grabbed Ariana and flew away. A second later, Ariana could see a sea of flaming arrows was shooting toward Kain. Kain used his Vampire Emperor’s body to shield Ariana while letting the flaming arrows hit his body and bounced away, causing absolutely no injury to him.

Ariana pointed toward a much smaller palace and said, “Over there. That is the Blood Mages Guild’s Palace.”

Kain nodded his head and said, “Our Blood Mages Guild’s Palace is much smaller compared to the Emperor’s Palace. It makes sense since we only have less than five hundred members.”

“Uncle Kain, we have more than two thousand members now.”

“What? How can we get that many members in such a short time?”

“Because all Twin Soul children discovered inside the Dryardian Empire will be escorted to the Blood Mages Guild’s Palace to be trained as Blood Mages. All other children who possess a single Elemental Soul discovered inside the Dryardian Empire will be escorted to King Volsky’s Castle and learn to be regular magic casters.”

“King Volsky? Who is that?”

“He is the King of all human slaves.”

Carrying Ariana with his left hand, Kain flew toward the smaller palace and landed on the ground just ten seconds after that. This time, it was the Blood Mages who were alarmed to see a black-hair man landed inside their palace. They saw Ariana was being grabbed by Kain and freaked out, a female Blood Mage screamed out loud, “Bastard, release Ariana!”

Ariana immediately said, “Emelia, this is Uncle Kain. He saved you in Flumen city, remember?”

Emelia shouted, “What nonsense are you speaking!? Uncle Kain died in the magical forest near Redkeep city a long time ago. This man has black-hair, not blonde-hair like us. He must be an alien from another planet. Why are you bringing him here? Are you being held as a hostage?” josei

Kain didn’t want to explain anything, he casted [Puppeteer] spell on all the Blood Mages including Emilia, and forced them to shut up and stand idly. Kain said, “My name is Kain Bersk. I am here to see Guildmaster Etgar Revenmar. Ariana, go inside and find the Guildmaster. Let him know that I have returned.”

“No needed to!” A loud voice yelled out loud from the palace.

It was Etgar, he heard the alarm bell from the Demi-Humans was ringing earlier and knew something bad must have happened. Etgar thought the Mages Council came to attack and was preparing battle strategies to fight them back. But when he heard Kain’s voice using the [Whispering Wind] spell, Etgar immediately went outside to check for it.

“Guildmaster.” Kain slightly bowed his head to show some respect toward Etgar since he was still a member of the Blood Mages Guild.

“Kain Bersk? Why is your hair black?” Etgar asked in suspicion.

“Shit happened. But I’m still me. Guildmaster, is Master Whistler here? I have a gift for her.”

“Kain, you dared using that tone toward me? Not only you didn't answer my question, you even dared to ask me a question without my permission. What has gotten into you?”

“Ah, my apology. I have been away for too long and it would take some time for me to adjust my speaking tone toward weaker beings.”

“Weaker beings? Kain, have you advanced into Saint-tier, like me?”

Kain didn’t want to brag much about his overwhelming power. He simply answered, “Yes.”

“You have been missing for over three hundred years. What happened during this time? How can you achieve Saint-tier in such a short period of time? I have been looking all over the places but you vanished without a trace.”

“Guildmaster, perhaps you wanted to invite me into the palace first so we can talk more about it discreetly?”

“How do I know you are the real Kain Bersk? What if you are a Black Mage from the Mages Council that transformed into Kain’s image using the [Shapeshifting] spell?”
