“Why is your arm fractured all of a sudden?” asked Fang Anci as she yawned while sitting up.

Mu Sisi screamed, cursed, and cried while on the phone. She ranted about Gao Jingqiu’s actions and ranted, “If everyone hadn’t forced me to marry him, I wouldn’t have ended up like this! He’s taken my shares and we can’t even divorce now. I have no power to control him and he can show off his affairs in front of me. He even went physical on me! He brought another woman home today. Who knows if he’ll let them stay here next time?”

Fan Anci sighed helplessly. They originally wanted her to get married to Li Zhuohui but she declined with the reason that he was a divorcee. His character, though, was much better than Gao Jingqiu—Li Zhuohui was a responsible man.

Then again, with Mu Sisi’s incessant tantrums, Li Zhuohui may well have found it difficult to bear with her.

All Fang Anci could say was, “Go home. Don’t think so much about all these things. Have a good night’s rest. I’ll come to look for you tomorrow.”

Fang Anci hung up, leaving Mu Sisi in the car. She raged and threw her cellphone in the car mirror.

...

...

Qi Chengzhi and the other three arrived at a destination that could not be missed—Satorini Island. Both he and Cheng Dongge brought wedding dresses over.

Since Song Yu’s and Qi Chengyue’s dresses were too precious, it was inadvisable to carry them along. Cheng Dongge had made preparations in advance before they went there by shipping over both women’s wedding dresses.

They all went to the studio and changed into their wedding attires with the shop assistant’s help.

During applying her makeup, Song Yu received a video message from Xia Wenna. Little Youjin was lying inside the baby cot and staring at the toys hung at the bed’s edge. He had a toothless smile but could yet produce a laugh. Nonetheless, his meaty limbs were just too cute.

Song Yu gave Xia Wenna a video call at once and it did not take long for it to connect.

“I knew you were going to call home.” Xia Wenna smiled helplessly once the call went through. Without further ado, she faced the camera to Little Youjin. “Youjin, mommy’s giving you a video call. Say hi to mommy.”

Youjin stared dazedly at the cellphone with his mouth wide open, as if he was looking at some curious new toy.

When he looked at the screen and saw Song Yu, he raised his fair-skinned tubby arms, although it was not known whether he did so because he found the cellphone amusing or because he recognized Song Yu. His slow-moving, short, and fat fingers stretched out and began reaching for the screen.

“Youjin, do you miss mommy?” Song Yu asked lovingly.

Little Youjin was still not able to make a sound but he kept his toothless lips locked in a smile. His little hands were waving wildly at Song Yu.

Song Yu looked at him and felt her eyes turning red. Her desire to return home increased even more and her anxiousness made her miss her son even more.

“Youjin, mommy’s gonna come back in two more days.” Song Yu sniffled. Her eyes reddened when she saw her son’s tubby white hands.

Qi Chengzhi had finished preparing and so came to see Song Yu’s progress. When he came, however, he saw Song Yu’s reddened eyes and nose.

“What’s going on?” Qi Chengzhi lowered his head and saw Song Yu’s miserable demeanor. He bent down and looked at the cellphone screen.

At that point, Xia Wenna appeared on the screen along with Little Youjin. “You miss you son already. You’ll get to see Youjin in two more days so don’t let yourself suffer, okay? Youjin is still eating and drinking well in your absence. He’s fully healthy and there’s no problem at all.”

Song Yu continued looking at Little Youjin until the baby was tired. He closed his eyes quietly and promptly fell asleep. Song Yu then spoke with Xia Wenna for a bit before hanging up.

Song Yu tilted her head and hugged Qi Chengzhi’s waist, burying her face into his stomach. “It wasn’t on purpose. I’m really happy to go on this honeymoon with you, but I still miss Youjin.”

“I know.” Qi Chengzhi smiled gently. His long and delicate fingers touched her soft hair. Song Yu’s actions did not disappoint him.

Song Yu sniffled and when she sat up straight, the makeup artist gave Song Yu a tissue. Song Yu apologized for ruining the makeup. After she was settled with all that, the makeup artist redid the makeup and gave some final touches.

Before their arrival at the island, they went to a temple dressed in ancient Greek clothes to photograph a unique style of wedding photos.

Song Yu and Qi Chengyue looked exceptionally beautiful when they wore flower crowns made from olive branches and donned the white long dresses used in ancient Greece.

Song Yu put on her own wedding dress this time, but the stylist curled Song Yu’s hair to resemble that of traditional Greek women. Her long, wavy hair draped over her back, setting both sides of her hair firmly in place.

When she stood up, she realized that the French-style wedding dress took on an ancient Greek quality because of her different hairstyle and makeup.

Since Song Yu did not have to go to work even after her confinement, she still would exercise at home when she took care of Youjin. Afraid that she might not have any time to leave the house, Qi Chengzhi decided to modify one of the guest rooms into a gym. He bought her a treadmill, an indoor cycle fitness trainer, and a yoga mat. It would then be convenient for Song Yu to do some exercise at home, be it using sports equipment or simply doing Pilates.

Song Yu would go into the gym whenever she had a moment to spare. She slimmed down tremendously and was already six or seven kilos lighter than when she just delivered the baby. The wedding dress had to undergo some alterations because of her pregnancy, but surprisingly, it fitted her quite perfectly.

Qi Chengzhi was left in a daze when he saw Song Yu dressed like that. Qi Chengzhi was transported back to the time when he was just married. The Song Yu in front of him had already given birth to a baby but she still looked as young as ever, just like the first time they reunited with each other.

Dressed in her wedding gown and standing in front of him, Qi Chengzhi’s head began to throb and even his heart was starting to quicken its pounding. He found it hard to resist lowering his head and kissing her on the corner of her lips. He did not kiss her lips directly because he was afraid of smudging his lipstick.

The corner of Song Yu’s lips tickled from his kiss. She looked up at him and saw him standing upright in his grooms’ suit, eliciting a smile from her as well.

Most Europeans were tall, strong, and handsome. Qi Chengzhi was not considered tall there since many were about his height—more muscular, even. Song Yu, though, regarded him at the most handsome out there.

They went to the most famous blue-roofed white-walled buildings in Santorini, a venue that made countless appearances in postcards. Song Yu said, “Wait till Youjin’s a bit older. We’ll have to bring him here.”

Qi Chengzhi smiled and hugged Song Yu. Their faces were parallel to each other, and Song Yu’s wedding dress was draping beautifully over the stage. Song Yu kissed him spontaneously without any prompt, and the photographer immediately captured that scene.

...

...

Fang Anci brought Mu Sisi to the hospital, and in the car, Mu Sisi cursed, “I’m going to expose Gao Jingqiu’s true nature to the media! He pretends to be a good man and a good husband in front of the camera, but behind them shows off all his mistresses in front of me. It’s all because of that contract. I can’t ask for a divorce now.”

“We still need him now. What else can we do? Just endure it. He doesn’t come home often, right? At least you’ll have some peace. Since you don’t like him too, just stay alone at home and live comfortably. Why must you give yourself all that suffering? Gao Jingqiu won’t be affected anyway if you’re unhappy. The Gao family will suffer if you spill it all to the media and air out all our dirty laundry, but our family will be the first to be attacked. You still have us with you. Gao Jingqiu is already like that, but if our family encounters difficulty and we can’t take care of you anymore, don’t you think Gao Jingqiu will be even more reckless?” Holding in her temper, Fang Anci began breaking it down to Mu Sisi.

Mu Sisi’s eyes reddened in grief and she said chokingly, “Am I supposed to continue like this forever? When can I leave him? Even if there’s no way I can be with Qi Chengzhi, I don’t want to spend the rest of my life with a bastard!”

Fang Anci could only say, “Just be patient. Once everything passes, your dad and brother will surely find a way for you.”

Mu Sisi gnashed her teeth and kept quiet. Fang Anci was basically suggesting that Mu Sisi had to wait for it because there was no other way. Mu Sisi found it appalling that her family was not even willing to put themselves out for her at such a juncture.

Fang Anci brought Mu Sisi to do the checkup, but when they walked out of the entrance, they were immediately surrounded. No one knew where those reporters caught wind of that news, but each of them asked, “Miss Mu, rumor has it that you fractured your arm. According to your neighbors, there was some noise of a commotion during the night of the twentieth. Was this domestic violence?”

“My daughter slipped while she was taking a bath,” Fang Anci answered hurriedly.

“Then why isn’t Mr. Gao with you at a time when you are unwell?” another reporter chimed in.

“He’s busy with work...”

Fang Anci was barely able to finish the sentence when a reporter interrupted her and said, “Miss Fang, may I ask Miss Mu to answer that herself?”

“Excuse me, please give way.” Gao Jingqiu appeared all of a sudden from the swarm of reporters. He walked over and held Mu Sisi. “I’m sorry for coming late.”

Once he completed his sentence, he lowered his head to kiss Mu Sisi on the lips before facing the reporters. “I was busy at work, but I made arrangements with my wife to meet her here and pick her up. All this about domestic violence is complete nonsense. Please stop harassing my family.”

The hospital’s security guards rushed out to cordon off the reporters, allowing Gao Jingqiu to bring Mu Sisi up into his car and let Fang Anci go back into her own.

Upon closing the door, Gao Jingqiu took a packet of tissues and hand sanitizer from his glovebox. He cleaned his hands with the hand sanitizer and took out a few tissues to clean his mouth. His utter revulsion was evident in his expression.

He drove up a stretch of road and stopped by the roadside. He told her coldly, “Get down from the car.”

Mu Sisi stared at him in shock. “What’s the meaning of this?”

“You don’t understand what I said? I dealt with all those reporters surrounding you. Now get off of my car. I have other things to do,” Gao Jingqiu said coldly.

Mu Sisi was just about to say something when Gao Jingqiu’s phone rang. His expression softened dramatically once he saw the caller. The look of disgust he showed Mu Sisi was completely gone.

“I’ll be done soon, Darling.”

“...”

“It’s alright. It won’t be troublesome if it’s you.”

“...”

“Yes, it’s all because of that Mu girl. She doesn’t do anything good at all and only knows how to trouble me. I settled it as fast as I could and I’m ditching her now to get back to you.”

Mu Sisi’s anger caused her face to warp. She extended her non-injured left hand and grabbed the phone from Gao Jingqiu. It caught him off-guard, and Mu Sisi was thus able to swiftly take the phone away from him.

She lowered the windows and smashed it as hard as she could on the ground outside. His phone was not the type where the back cover could be easily opened, so the cover and batteries still remained inside the phone. Scratches covered the phone body and the screen was shattered as well. The phone shut down automatically.

“Why did you say that about me to all those other b*tches?!” Mu Sisi screamed.

Gao Jingqiu’s expression dimmed down significantly. All of a sudden, he stretched forward, grabbed Mu Sisi’s hair, and pulled her toward him. Mu Sisi felt so painful that she howled. She felt as though her hair was going to be pulled off by him.

“What right does a woman like you have to talk about others like that? Do you think only your body is hideous? Your words and your thoughts are horrible too. From head to toe, and from in to out, there’s nothing about you that others like. Even that face of yours disgusts others.” Gao Jingqiu parted the hair on her forehead to reveal the scar on her face.

Since her right arm had a plaster cast, putting makeup was a hassle. She applied only a tiny bit of foundation just to cover the scar, it was still very much visible upon closer inspection.

“You don’t seem disgusted at all with that plastic face of yours.” Gao Jingqiu flung her head back, causing her hindbrain to hit the car window. Mu Sisi felt dizzy for quite some time after the knock. She was seeing stars.

Her vision was still pitch-black, but she heard the sound of a car door opening. Not long later, the door on her side swung open and she nearly fell because she was leaning on it.

Then, Gao Jingqiu held her arms and dragged her out from the car. He threw her down forcefully from the car.

Gao Jingqiu did not even look at her. He went back into the car and drove off.

Mu Sisi sat down on the ground and watched the rear end of the car disappear into oblivion. All of a sudden, she screamed madly, “GAO JINGQIU! YOU B*STARD! YOU THINK YOU’RE THAT GREAT?!”

Gao Jingqiu’s car, however, was long gone, and everyone beside them stared at Mu Sisi oddly.

She shouted fiercely, “THE HELL ARE YOU LOOKING AT!”

As she shouted, she could not control herself from crying. She placed her left palm on the ground, but she could not go up no matter what. Her shoes for the day were a pair of ultra-thin high heels. Her knees were bent, and since the heels were too high, she could not manage to step firmly on the ground.

“Sisi!” Fang Anci’s car came and she hurried down with her driver to help Mu Sisi up the car.

“Mom, I’m not going back. I’m not going back anymore! I can’t divorce him, but I sure as hell don’t want to live with him.” Mu Sisi cried and said, “He bullied me...he phoned his other girls in front of me. He ditched me to the side of the road and ran to look for that woman. What did I do wrong to meet a husband like him!”

Fang Anci looked at Mu Sisi’s miserable appearance by the road, but could do nothing except to bring Mu Sisi back home.

Somehow, the reporters seemed to possess remarkable skills in finding out what happened. Mu Sisi stayed at home for a few days only. To prevent more unsavory news popping up, she had no choice but to return to Gao Jingqiu’s new house.

...

...

Qi Chengzhi and Cheng Dongge returned home with their wives after their honeymoon. In a flash, half a month had gone by and spring was upon them.

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day were always spent at the Qi manor. On the second day of the lunar new year, Qi Chengzhi and Song Yu would then bring Little Youjin back to visit Song Yu’s parents.

Song Donglin and Yu Qianying were very close with Little Youjin. One would hug him and then the other—neither wanted to let go of the baby.

They completely ignored Qi Chengzhi as they carried the baby and went for a round in the neighborhood.

Qi Chengzhi and Song Yu were both attractive people. The Qi family’s strong genes, in particular, led their many children to inherit the Qi family’s trademark eyes. Little Youjin’s face was becoming more and more mature, and those deep eye sockets of his made him look as though he was mixed blood.

Yu Qianying used to dread meeting the neighbors, who always asked, “Song Yu hasn’t found a man yet?”

“Has Song Yu found a partner yet?”

When Song Yu had finally started a relationship with Qi Chengzhi, people then began asking, “Song Yu hasn’t gotten married yet?”

“When does she plan to get married?”

When the two of them finally got married, Yu Qianying thought that she could finally step out of the house and show herself. She also wanted to return the favor to those whose children have not yet gotten married, by asking them the same questions as well.

Little did she expect that after the marriage, there were people who asked her, “Song Yu isn’t pregnant yet?”

“When does she plan to have a child?”

“She still doesn’t want a child? You can’t use youth as an excuse to delay it.”

“They want to just let it happen naturally? They’re not being half-hearted about it, are they?”

Yu Qianying’s gloominess was past the point of no return. Why must others be so hot and bothered about her own daughter!

Since the baby was already born, there was nothing those other people could say anymore. Yu Qianying hugged Little Youjin and brought him for a walk to show him off, up until the neighbors heaped praise on the baby. Yu Qianying was so happy that she could not stop herself from smiling.

It was cold though, so she did not want to stay out too long for fear that the child would get cold. Just a while was enough. She brought Little Youjin back after that. Nevertheless, she and Song Donglin still huddled over Little Youjin. Even seeing him sleep made them feel very happy, and they simply could not leave him be.

Eventually, it was time that Yu Qianying went to prepare dinner. That was when she left Song Donglin with the baby.

As Yu Qianying was busy in the kitchen, Song Donglin paid full attention to the sleeping baby. Qi Chengzhi took the opportunity to give hinting looks to Song Yu.

Her face reddened and she sneaked a peek at Song Donglin. Noticing that he was not paying attention to them, she hurried into her room, but she did not expect Qi Chengzhi to follow her in.

In addition to going into her room, Qi Chengzhi even locked the door behind him. Feeling shy, Song Yu whispered, “Why’d you lock the door?”

“Weren’t you worried that they’d notice us?” Qi Chengzhi cocked his brow and said with utmost seriousness.

“...” Song Yu believed that she might have misunderstood him. She went over quietly to her wardrobe and told Qi Chengzhi to take out a leather case from the bottom.

The case had clearly aged. Song Yu spoke casually, “This was passed down from my grandmother, mom’s side. Their family was well-off last time and left a few antiques behind. But later, because of the cultural segregation, they knew what was coming and sold off the antiques beforehand. It was a pity, but at least it did not cause too much of a loss. Although this leather case isn’t a valuable antique, its quality still remains. It has a tremendous amount of history and even until now, it’s still usable.”

Song Yu tried unzipping the case but it was rough due to years and years of just sitting there. It was hard to unzip it, and in the end, Qi Chengzhi helped her to open it up.

The contents were filled with many of the things that Song Yu wore and used during her days as a child. Not everything was present inside, but one or two pieces from each period of Song Yu’s life were kept by Yu Qianying as a memento.

There was a little quilt used to wrap Song Yu when she was an infant, along with a small pair of shoes that looked like a toy. Also present was a small piece of clothing, about the size of two palms. They were all cute and tiny.

Qi Chengzhi’s slender fingers picked one out. The more he looked at them, the more intrigued he became. “Why didn’t I notice all these things last time?”
