“Oh, she stopped crying.” Ariana looked at Theodore in surprise. She would never have thought he had any skill in coaxing children.
Theodore noticed the surprised look on Ariana’s face and said with a smile, “When | was a child, my mother always coaxed me in this way. | didn’t expect it to work on her too.”
“Your mother definitely loved you very much.” Ariana sighed, feeling sorry for Theodore.
The more she knew about him, the more she understood how difficult it was for him to stay in the Anderson family. On the one hand, Darian was far from being a qualified father, and on the other hand, his stepmother was trying to sow discord between him and Darian. And then there was his half-brother who was unpredictable. In Ariana’s eyes, the Anderson family was not a good place to live. It hurt people.
“Really?” Theodore smirked, but Ariana was taking care of Alina, so she didn’t hear him. Ariana gently placed the little girl on the bed and pulled the comforter over her.
Theodore slowly pushed the wheelchair out of the tent and quietly gazed up at the starry sky, lost in thought.
After making sure Alina was asleep, Ariana joined Theodore outside and put her hands on his shoulders. She said in a low voice, “You know, my mother died when | was very young. | don’t have many memories of her now. If | hadn’t kept pictures of her, I’m afraid | would have almost completely forgotten what she looked like.”
Theodore turned around and took her hand. He said softly, “I'll always be with you in the future.” ©
Ariana gazed silently into Theodore’s eyes. After a while, she suddenly burst out laughing. When she laughed, her eyes squinted into the shape of a crescent moon.
She ruffled his hair, as Theodore often did with her, and said with a smile, “Why are you so sentimental all of a sudden? Today is our date. Let’s talk about something happy!”
She suddenly frowned, looking bitter, and added, “Besides, so much happened today that kept us from really enjoying this day and it will soon be over. | made a point of arranging this date but it seems to me that is was a complete flop.”
She was partly right. Not only did nothing romantic happen during their date, but they also had to share their spot with a whole crowd of people and even had a quarrel with some troublemakers. This place was noisy and the date was far from what she had imagined.
“Well, the day isn’t over yet,” Theodore said gently as he stroked her forehead.
Ariana was stunned by his words. She noticed a suggestive glint in his eyes. With a slight smile, Theodore gently held the back of her head and leaned closer to her.
When he spoke, his voice was low and deep. “Now that the little one is asleep, we can have some privacy — just the two of us!” Ariana was in a daze and she stared at Theodore for a long time, pondering over the meaning of his words. At the same time, she remembered what Marge had said in the office.
“Maybe you two can have sex there. It will add spice to your life as a couple and make you more intimate.”
No! She had to stop thinking of that! She couldn't let those thoughts linger in her mind.
Ariana’s face suddenly became very hot and her cheeks flushed with embarrassment. She stammered nervously, “Please don’t do anything stupid. We are in the wilderness and there are people nearby. Besides, the tent is not well soundproofed and the child...”
She swallowed what she wanted to say next when she saw the strange look in Theodore’s eyes. He asked straightforwardly, “What the hell are you thinking about?” ©
Ariana was stunned.
Theodore pointed at his watch, and then to the sky and said, “It’s almost 10 p.m. Don’t you want to see the legendary meteor shower?”
