Theodore was still seated where she had left him. He was having a conversation over the phone when she returned. His statements made it plain that he was asking Horace to bring a replacement wheelchair to their location.
After Theodore ended the call, he waved to Ariana. “Come sit here with me. The new wheelchair won’t arrive anytime soon.” Ariana sat down next to him and rested her head against his sturdy shoulder.
“My bad. Everything | predicted came to pass.” Ariana felt a twinge of annoyance. It was unwise of her to say those things at the edge of the slope just now. That was entirely her fault in every respect.
Theodore chuckled and clutched her hands. “This is our second date. It’s going to leave an indelible impression on our mind.”
