Chapter 108 Course (2)
Chapter 108 Course (2)
In the end, the group had to walk for two hours before they found the last part of the dungeon. The structure wasn't that big, but the fact that it had many bifurcations and that they had to wait for the Golems whenever they didn't know what to do delayed their progress a little bit. Basically, the group fought for fifty seconds and then advanced for more than fifty seconds.
"Finally… I am dizzy since everything looks the same inside the dungeon," Lana said.
The last part of the dungeon was being protected by a door. Still, they confirmed that it could be opened automatically whenever monsters or humans get close to it. Regardless, the boss was essentially a mud golem. While it seemed like a weakened version of the real deal, that couldn't be further from the truth. Since it was made of mud, water, and ice, attacks wouldn't be that effective. In fact, the monster probably could use water to attack… to make matters worse, the last part of the dungeon was basically a slightly deep quagmire. Half of their bodies will get submerged.

"Why can things never be easy for us?" Lana protested yet again.
"What is the plan, Jake?" Louise asked.
"Poison probably won't work, but while we can't use water or ice to weaken the monster, we should be able to hinder its movements with fire and ice," Jake replied. "At first, keep watching the enemy and… Doing your thing. Once the time comes, attack the enemy with a big one."
"Before that, I need to confirm which one is the most effective, right?" Louise asked.
"I guess so," Jake nodded. "Anyway, I will draw the attention of the monster, and you can use that chance to attack the creature from behind as much as possible. Still, I have a feeling that things won't be so easy for you."
Karina didn't understand the last part all that well, but she still nodded. Moving around the monster with mud up to their waist would be a massive pain in the ass, so neither of them can rely on speed. Before entering the last room of the dungeon, Jake couldn't help but wonder if he should use his claymore or if he should use his shield and katana. In the end, Jake decided to play for the team and use his shield since his speed would be sealed. He couldn't afford to make a mistake and let the girls be hit.
Nevertheless, they entered the Las part of the dungeon as soon as they finished the last group of Golems. While Jake prepared to use Mana Blade, he saw the boss getting up and showing its body that was essentially half a meter taller and a big skinnier if compared to the other Golems. Nevertheless, the very moment the group jumped into the mud, Jake clicked his tongue. The mud was just too dense, so he couldn't run even if he wanted to.
"You think that making this place like your backyard will make things easy for you, huh," Jake said. "Well, think again."
The monster both arms toward Jake, but Jake was faster and fired a Mana Blades toward the face of the creature. The Boss used both arms to block the attack, and aside from a few scratches, there was no real damage. Jake and Karina tried to approach, but all the mud around them was really making that troublesome to do. Before they could get close enough, some Fireballs flew toward the monster, and the golem blocked it with its arms. For a moment, Jake saw its arms hardening, but in a matter of instants, they returned to normal. At that point in time, even the golem changed its strategy. It just pointed one arm toward Jake and used the other to protect its head. Thanks to it, the monster had the chance to finally fire some Mud Balls toward Jake. While their names were silly when they were blocked by Jake's shield, a loud impact echoed throughout the area, and Jake felt his arm cracking little by little.
Thanks to those attacks, though, Louise gathered a lot of mana and fired a massive Ice Arrow toward the monster. The creature blocked the attack with an arm, but in the end, that same arm got frozen, and the beast couldn't move and thus, barely could see Jake and the others.
"I am sorry about this," Louise said, and then she jumped on Jake's shoulders and then used that to jump over the golem.
Karina tried to attack the creature's head, but the golem moved its right arm to fire Mud Balls. In the end, she stopped after hitting the frozen arm a few times and then used the same to jump back to her starting point. Thanks to all those movements, Jake now was completely covered in mud, but it wasn't time to complain to Karina. The frozen arm finally recovered a little bit, but at least those continuous attacks since the start of the battle made the creature lose one thousand points of health.
"Jake! Focus on defense and let Louise and Karina do their things!" Lana said.
The golem wasn't moving all that much, and apparently, it liked to use those long-ranged attacks, so Lana's idea seemed sound. However, that would be too boring for Jake. Besides, when do battles against the boss go that easily? Still, Jake decided to follow that plan for the time being and save his energy to use if something happens.
"Louise, create some Earth Walls around the boss," Jake said.
Louise didn't get the idea behind those, but she obeyed it anyway. In the next moment, Karina jumped over those and began to run around the boss. She finally recovered her speed since the mud was no longer in her way. Still, thanks to that, the mud golem was preparing to attack her, but Jake stopped the creature with a Mana Blade.
