Chapter 122 Punishment (1)
Chapter 122 Punishment (1)
While Jake was satisfied that he got those skills, he still felt complicated knowing that he now had insect DNA inside him. Nevertheless, he had things to do, so he couldn't think about that. Besides, it wasn't like his appearance changed in any way.
Instead of planting the leaves, his herbs had produced, he decided to stock them inside his magic box since he didn't know how strong Rick was. Once that was done, Jake decided to take a nap and wait until night to move. It will be better if he invades Rick's camp at night…
"You went too far when you knocked her down…" Lana said when Jake returned. "She is in such a deep slumber that it is hard to tell when she will wake up.."
"Jake's strength really is something else, but maybe that isn't the cause of it," Louise said. "There is always a chance that disobeying her orders made her endure some pain or backslash…"
It made sense, but Jake couldn't deny it since it would be too convenient for him to say that kind of thing.
"It will be better if she sleeps until night," Jake said. "Once that happens, I won't be here, and she probably won't catch me on time."
Lana and Louise probably will be fine if they stay by themselves for a while. The real problem was the possibility of Karina leaving them alone and then interfering in the fight against Rick. Jake was pretty sure that the man was above him in most likely, all attributes, so Rick won't need help. However, Jake knew that most fights never go as planned.
"How are you planning to face him?" Lana asked. "You possibly couldn't be planning to invade his camp and then face him alongside a few hundred of his soldiers."
Jake didn't have any plan, but now that he thought about it, burning everything that stands in his path with Flames of Wrath seems like a pretty good plan. Flew people could resist those flames for more than a few seconds and if Jake hits them in a nasty spot…
"You will end up becoming the enemy of many people," Lana said.
"That is something that I don't mind," Jake said. "In fact, being the focus of the hatred of so many people seems kind of refreshing."
That was something only someone pretty nasty who has a bad personality would say. Jake fitted that criteria… still, Lana and Louise knew that he wasn't a bad person per se. Otherwise, he would plan on killing Karina as well. Nevertheless, they decide to think during the entire day to find a way to convince Jake to change his mind, but that never happens… in the end, Jake ends up leaving the area, running toward Rick's base.
Thanks to his speed and the help of Dash, Jake arrived at his destination two hours later. He decided to take a break to rest a little and formulate a proper plan. At first, he thought that hiding his face would be useless since Appraisal could reveal his name. However, as long as he succeeds in defeating Rick while using another weapon and wearing other gear, he will put some fear and doubts in the heads of those who worked in that camp.
With that in mind, Jake decided to mess with his Cape a little bit and then simulate a hood that could hide his face. While one of Rick's groups saw him using a katana and a shield, Jake decided to use his Fire Pike. While he wasn't much proficient at it, Jake wasn't planning to finish him off using that.
Using Stealth and the darkness of the night, Jake crossed the fields of herbs, and not a single one of the guards noticed him passing nearby. After a couple of minutes, he finally found the walls of Rick's base, and he could hear the footsteps of some guards coming and going. Jumping over the walls would be easy. The problem was doing that without making any noise and alerting the guards. In the end, Jake had the idea of using Flames of Wrath to open a hole in the wall. Jake succeeded in the blink of an eye, and the cut had been so good that he could put the wood back in its place, and no one would notice that someone had opened a hole there… at least at night.
"Well, now… while I am prepared to do that, I shouldn't let this fight escalate," Jake thought.
It will be hard, but Jake wanted to finish that asshole as soon as possible. Never mind winning a direct fight fair and square, Jake wanted to finish the bastard the same way Rick wished that he had died, by an assassination technique…
While using the shadows of the buildings of the place, Jake approached the guild hall. Jake recalled that Rick's office and room were on the second floor, so he would have to be careful. However, much to his surprise, when he was about to open a hole in the building, he felt some bloodlust thanks to Alert, and then in the next moment, a window on the second floor broke, and a huge shadow fell toward him. In the next moment, a huge ass sword emitting a cold breeze cut the spot Jake had been half a second ago. Rick was the one holding that, and while he had a weapon, he didn't have any armor.
"You?" Rick muttered in shock when he used Appraisal.
Rick thought that it was Jake, but then he saw the spear in his hand, and he didn't know anymore if it was really him. His name was that rare, but still… it didn't matter. Jake didn't have time to waste, so he dashed toward the big warrior. Their weapons collided, and the sound of the steel began to spread across the camp. Jake could hear the sound of people moving, so he needed to be fast…
