Chapter 161 Speed Up (2)
Chapter 161 Speed Up (2)
As soon as the sun rose, Jake woke up and headed toward the snails' territory. Without the bow, he would have a bit of a hard time fighting from a distance, so he had to use his main fighting style again. That wasn't a problem actually, if anything, he felt refreshed.
Using the greatsword he just got, Jake blocked the Poisonous Arrows that the monsters fired before cutting their heads in a single motion. However, eventually, he came to realize that his armor could take that hit. Actually, it was the armor he got on the previous night. The poison also had some corrosive power, so it would lose durability over time, but it would take more than a few to make the armor melt.
"I am not going to use this set of armor, so it is fine if it gets damaged," Jake thought. "That being said, getting used to repelling projectiles at close range will be good training for me."
While getting used to that, crossing the grasslands and killing the monsters on his path, several hours passed, and then Jake finally found the dungeon at the bottom of a small mountain. The number of monsters around wasn't high, so it seemed that it hadn't been long since it was cleared.
"Let's focus on hunting the monsters… After that, I can check things around the dungeon shop," Jake thought.
It didn't take long for Jake to do the clean-up. He noticed that Pride Incarnate was helping him quite a bit since he was confident in that group… the result could have been better after defeating that group. Still, under those circumstances, Jake couldn't complain. Regardless, once he finished doing the clean-up, he went to check the dungeon shop… He didn't find anything much better than his current gear, thanks to his fame level.
"I need to find a way to clear more dungeons and faster…" Jake said and then sighed.
Considering the nature of the mission and his goal, Jake would clear in faster if he gets some long ranger weapons like crossbows. Still, that would decrease his time training his melee skills… some of them must be around the mountain, and since Jake needed two thousand more of them, just waiting at that entrance of the dungeon would make him wait for two days.

"Barely better than my current gear… Anyway, at need to learn at least one extra skill," Jake thought. "Let's check all the options available."
Jake didn't find anything new on the list of words, to he checked the others. In the end, the only weapon that he found that had an impressive skill was a rapier, and it wasn't by far his first choice of weapon.
Iron Rapier
Speed + 8, Sonic Blows, master this weapon to obtain its effects permanently.
Durability: 15/15
Sonic Blows: three powerful and fast sword trusts that can cause fifty percent more damage per hit and an extra five percent with each level up when used.
Cost: 20 stamina.
"This looks like a skill that would benefit me, but a rapier… why it had to be rapier…" Jake said and then sighed.
The skill had the potential to become useful even at high levels, so Jake decided to buy the weapon. While Jake had accumulated quite a lot of coins, between those new pieces of equipment and some accessories that he bought to improve his recovery, he spent around two hundred thousand coins. So, he will have to hunt a lot more to compensate for that. In any case, while feeling weird, he began to hunt the snails around the mountain with the rapier in hand.
As one would be expected, it looked quite weird to see a man wearing heavy armor with a rapier in hand, and it felt even weirder to be one. Regardless, while being mindful of his footwork and dodging the poisonous arrows while he approached monsters, Jake began to use the Rapier. Fortunately, their piercing power was superb, so killing the snails with a single strike in the head was still possible.
"Despite being so frail looking, this weapon still is resisting the bodily fluids of the snails… " Jake thought after he impaled some monsters. "I guess I will be able to sell it later."
"Even if there aren't human guilds that focus on that aspect, I should find guilds of other species…" Jake thought. "Adam said that he heard rumors from them, so communication should be possible. I am also interested in how they started to participate in all this… It couldn't have been through a game, right?"
Jake didn't find many species yet, but considering the civilizations that he saw, it would be weird if they had something like VR. Then again, the leader of the liches found a way to communicate with someone that used the system and received their technology, so it wouldn't be weird.
Speaking of technology, Jake probably should head to that world before someone finds the liches hideout and get all the things he found there.
Eventually, after a day of the continuous hunt, Jake finished the quest, and he decided to check Zubos as soon as possible. However, after heading to that world and running for a few hours, he only found a massive crater in the place where their hideout was supposed to be…
