Chapter 186 Determined (2)
Chapter 186 Determined (2)
It didn't take long for Jake to find some enemies that were willing to face him. While some undead trents were walking around with no goal, he saw that some of them also hid in some groves, probably to ambush those who weren't cautious enough. Regardless, those creatures were as big as a normal-sized tree, but the real issue was the fact that they had some green vines that could work as whips. They also could fire some putrid fruits like bullets to curse their enemies. Despite all that, what Jake found troublesome about them was the creepy smirking face that they had on their trunks. It was really unnerving and made him feel like punching them seriously...

The parameters of the monster were quite weird, but it was clear that the creature would be good at middle and long ranged fighters. In fact, when Jake was fifty meters away from it, the monster began to fire the putrid fruits.
"I don't have any Resistance against curses yet, so I can't let that thing hit me with those," Jake thought.
The putrid fruits were fast like bullets, so Jake had a hard time approaching the monsters. Fortunately, he was fast enough to block them with his sword when he had to, but he wasn't fast enough to do that all the time.
"Let's see…" Jake thought while he prepared his sword.
In the next moment, Jake threw his sword after combining Throw and Bash alongside Explosive Touch. The weapon flew too fast, so even though the enemy tried to block it with its vines, it failed. The sword pierced the trunk of the monster and then caused an explosion.
The monster staggered, and Jake used that chance to approach. When he was about to kick his sword and make it pierce deeper, the monster used its vines and tried to grab his neck, but Jake grabbed the vines first and pushed the beast toward him. In the end, Jake hit the sword, and by pushing the monster, the weapon pierced even deeper. However, just by grabbing the vines, Jake got poisoned and began to lose twenty points of health per second. He only held for three seconds, so the poison stopped after three seconds.
"Shit… Just touching it for a couple of seconds will kill me," Jake thought.
In any case, when Jake was about to recover the flamberge, the monster suddenly opened its mouth and used Poisonous Breath. The beast was pretty stupid if it thought that Jake would be stopped with that much. In fact, he only felt compelled to end things faster, and he used Explosive Touch for that.
The attack forced the monster to close its mouth, so Jake didn't breathe much of the poison. He also had the chance to grab his sword and Slash the annoying face of the enemy.
You received 50 coins.
"Come to think of it… I forgot to ask what kind of materials they buy," Jake thought when he saw the enemy falling to the ground.
Jake began to investigate the monster, but he didn't find anything out of the ordinary in the creature. The trunk, the leaves and the fruits looked as dead as they come. Without any other choice, Jake split the monster into several parts. Weirdly enough, Jake found some something weird on the root of the Trent. It looked like a small but healthy plant.
Trent Core
A special plant that grows fast and is able to bear a random type of fruits many times over the year.
It was weird that an undead Trent could have that inside itself, and it was also weird that a plant could become a tree and bear many types of fruits, but in the end, things get weird when mana becomes involved.
"There are many groves around here, so perhaps they were built from this…" Jake thought.
It was hard to be certain since they were too far away from each other, and using them around the city would let the inhabitants use them as another layer of defense. They were too far away, and the monsters were using them to hide as well. Nevertheless, Jake could think about it later.
Although Jake left his base early in the morning, he was heading in the direction where the sun was setting in that world. It wasn't surprising that such a thing could happen, but it was a bit troublesome for him. Being ambushed at night by those undead trents would be a lot easier since they could mimic ordinary trees by not moving.
With that in mind, Jake hurried to find the dungeon, but he didn't find anything in the distance that could fit a large dungeon. There were no hills or mountains… he tried to be polite and not bother the guards all that much, and now the lack of information was causing him trouble. While he was looking around for clues, Jake found some trents approaching him from three different directions… They could be smart when they wanted as well.
"Sorry, I don't have time to waste with you guys," Jake said and then enchanted his weapon with Fire Enchantment.
Jake approached one of them before they could close the encirclement and used Explosive Touch on his feet to give him a boost of speed. He suddenly got closer to one of the trents, and he used a quick combination of skills to destroy the face of the monster and kill it. While he used more mana and stamina than he wanted, it was necessary to save time.
