Chapter 279 Dungeon Core (1)
Chapter 279 Dungeon Core (1)
After killing the first group, Jake used Flash and then used cyclone strike again. Before the next could Aim their spears at him, Jake approached with Flash and repeated his attack. Half of the gremlins were decimated in the blink of an eye, and then their master finally showed up in the middle of the base. It seemed that the gi had used some sort of illusion spell to hide himself and the crystal.

Nevertheless, while Jake couldn't see the guy's status, he could see that he had the lower half of a spider and a pretty human-like upper half. He also had two magic wands in both hands.
"Hey, spider demi-humans have been all women, no exception!" Jake said.
That guy ignored Jake's taunts and then used his staves. With one of them, he fired a weird white arrow, and with the other, he fired a purple one. Jake's instincts told him not to block or get hit by those, so he just jumped to the side. In the end, some gremlins were hit by them and were enveloped by a thick spider's web, and the others melted until bones were left…
"Why do you need staves to fire those?" Jake asked. "Can't you fart webs or something?"
Jake dashed toward the enemy, but he was forced to stop when those acidic arrows were fired more often than before. To make things worse, the gremlins that were still alive used Flamethrower toward him.
Jake repelled those by using dark flames and mana Blades together. After that, he dashed toward the boss of the place with his sword enveloped by dark flames. That guy dashed backward without turning around, thanks to his weird legs… As if that wasn't weird enough, he kept firing those two types of arrows. Jake blocked them with his flames, but they were still decreasing the flames' power and making his sword heavier.
"The flames can't destroy them before their effects can take place…" Jake furrowed his eyebrows.
When Jake heard the sound of the walls falling, he confirmed that his crystal wolves had done their job. Now they just had to do the cleanup. However, Jake and they had to hurry because he could see in the distance the enemies that were just watching the invasion approaches.
Jake used Thunder Slash and dark flames, and the spider guy created a wall of webs to block the attack… That reaction speed was simply stupid. In any case, Jake couldn't give enough room for that guy to react, so he had to accept some risks as well.
Jake used Flash to approach the enemy, and the spider guy suddenly jumped and then made some webs emerge from the ground and grabbed his legs. Jake was pretty certain that he put those traps around just in case something like that were to happen. However, by focusing his dark flames on a single side of the blade, Jake increased the firepower of his strike and then cut down the webs on a single strike. At the same time, and before the enemy could fall, Jake fired a Mana Blade with all the dark flames he could summon. The enemy tried to block the attack with all the spells he could fire in that short window of time, but the flames consumed those and eventually hit the spider guy. Still, he prevented mortal damage by using his arms as a shield… He sacrificed those, but he survived for long enough to fire an acid Cannon from his mouth.
Jake couldn't summon the dark flames, but he still dashed toward the enemy and blocked the attack with his sword. The weapon began to lose durability insanely fast, and some droplets of acid fell on Jake's arms and ate away the flesh, making his anger rise… That was what helped Jake. Jake was already close enough to attack with his sword when the enemy landed. The weapon hit the spider guy's head and then split it open in a single moment.
You received 28.223 coins.
Your recovery increased by one point.
Jake won, but he didn't have time to celebrate. The pain in his arms wasn't decreasing, and his attacks didn't let him recover… The acid probably had some anti-healing properties. Also, the other groups of monsters were approaching since the gremlins disappeared as soon as their master was killed. Still, the battle ended a lot faster than expected... he went all out and end up getting hurt because of that. Still, perhaps he should keep using that tactic in some battles.
"I don't have time to waste with you all, shitheads," Jake said when he saw an army of fire Golems coming from the south.
At first, Jake thought of grabbing the staves of the enemy and using them against the Golems since his flames would need some time to deal with them. However, when he touched them, he crushed both items with his hands' thanks to a powerful wave of anger.
"Ah… What waste," Jake said. "It seems that he hates magic even more than me."
It was only natural that Jake would try to use the most obvious way to deal with that situation first. Still, his response had been more than a bit exaggerated. In any case, the enemy had gotten too close, and now he didn't have any other solution but to fight up close.
Jake cleared his mind and used Master Thief without thinking of anything, the rewards will be random, but at least he won't put any strain on his mind. So, Jake used the same strategy as before. He used Flash and appeared in the middle of the monsters, and used Cyclone Strike alongside Frozen Touch… some recklessness was necessary in order to achieve some things faster. Jake was also willing to pay that price.
