Chapter 67 Broken Bones (1)
Chapter 67 Broken Bones (1)
As soon as Jake looked at the crystal, the group was teleported back to town. At that point in time, he was already used to it, but it didn't change the fact that it was a bit annoying.

Jake frowned when he saw that. While the skills sure were useful for him since he was offense-oriented, he didn't expect that he would gain the golem bloodline. Golems, in his head, weren't living beings per se, even if they were supposed to exist only in the imagination of some people.
"Hey, I wanted to become half-cat… why I can't choose the race?" Lana protested.
"Say that a bit louder. I am sure that some game master will listen to your complaints if you do so," Jake said.
"I got the Siren bloodline. It is a bloodline that grants some effects by using songs," Louise said. "What about you?"
"Golem bloodline," Jake replied.
"I got the Elf bloodline…" Lana said.
It seemed that Jake was the one who got most lucky; still, he had wished for something flashier like Orc Hero. The best option would be to obtain the dragons' bloodline, but Jake didn't want to become overpower without deserving it. Regardless, the mission lasted for three hours, so it was only five in the afternoon, they sure could check the new map if they wanted to, but in the end, Jake decided to stop since his supplies at home were quickly running low now that he has to cook for three people.
"Let's stop for today," Jake said.
"How weird…" Lana frowned. "I could swear you would try to defeat the next boss today as well."
"I would. My fridge is almost empty thanks to someone who has to eat too many snacks," Jake said.
"I wonder who that could be…" Lana said while she was looking away.
"Can I help you, Jake?" Louise asked after she laughed a little.
"You can by not destroying my place while I am away," Jake replied.
Selling and buying new things could be done the other day, so they logged off, and then Jake immediately left his apartment to go to the nearest grocery store. The sun was already setting, and since it was Sunday, the streets were pretty empty in that part of the town. Maybe it was because of that, but Jake felt that something looked weird. He certainly didn't have those skills in real life, but he felt like he was being watched.
"It must be my imagination…" Jake thought.
After filling two bags with vegetables, meat, fruits, and other things, Jake left the grocery store while carrying them in both arms. It was already dark at that point in time, so even fewer people were on the streets. That weird feeling increased, and Jake couldn't help but raise his guard. In the end, he confirmed that he wasn't imagining things… fifty meters away from the entrance of his building, there was an alley, and there Jake found Justin and two big guys wearing suits.
"Hey, kid," Justin said. "Are you surprised to see me so soon?"
"Not really, you know. Cockroaches are known for their resilience," Jake replied. "You make me recall of them."
"What an attitude… how come you can be like this outside the game?" Justin asked. "Well, it doesn't really matter. You have two options now, kid. Guide me to where you left Louise now, or guide me after we punch you a little bit."
Jake laughed a little. That guy sure had a screw loose somewhere… sure, it was dark, and few people were walking on the streets, and those who were certainly weren't looking that way. Still, for him to come to cause trouble in such a part of the city… if Jake weren't someone antisocial, those three would leave the neighborhood without some teeth. Unfortunately, Jake couldn't count on anyone right now.
"All right…" Jake said and then put his bags on the ground. "I assume you want to do this in a place where no one can see it."
Jake suddenly got up and then dashed toward Justin. Before his friends could react, Jake punched Justin's face with all his might. He smirked in satisfaction when he felt his punch cracking that asshole's jaw… However, in the next moment, Jake was the one who got punched in the face. One of the big guy's hit him, and then Jake felt the world turning upside down. When he recovered from the attack, he felt himself being dragged toward the alley and Justin spatting a lot of blood a few meters away.
His arms were immobilized, but Jake's legs weren't, so he fixed his posture a little bit and kicked the knee of the second guy with all his might. It hurt his leg like hell, but Jake felt the other guys' knees cracking as well. He fell down while holding his knee and grunting in pain. However, in the next moment, the guy who was holding Jake pulled him upward and then began to strangle him with his arms.
"Fuck!" Jake thought.
The strangling technique of that guy was the real deal, so Jake panicked. He couldn't find any opening since the guy was taller and stronger… to make matters worse, he saw the other guy getting up and preparing to punch him. He couldn't let that happen, or he would be done for… So, Jake used his last card… he took a small knife from his waist and stabbed the man in the leg.
