Chapter 93 Offer (5)
Chapter 93 Offer (5)
One hour after dawn, Lana finally woke up, and around the same time, Clark called the group to have breakfast. Jake's group was starting to realize as they were eating salamander's meat even in the morning that life would be very different from now on. The comfort that modern granted them could no longer be found, even food had its limitations now, and Jake certainly wouldn't be able to make chili or spaghetti out of monsters' meat.
"We are going to clear the dungeon soon, and from what I heard, the Reptilian's boss is a melee type of monster, which is pretty fast and strong," Clark said. "We will have to use many magic attacks to decrease their speed if we want to end this quickly."
While Jake got used to the ordinary reptilians, he knew by experience that the fight against the boss could be many, many times more difficult, and now that his group couldn't use their innate skills, that certainly will raise the bar.
"I think it would be best if we use the same formation as before. Jake will keep the monster occupied while the rest of us attack from the sides," Clark said. "However, since we all know now that he is pretty durable and has some potions, I think it would be the best if we divide the priests into the three groups as well."
"That is fine, but Lana will have to be the one healing me," Jake said.
"Although you say that I am half useless, you still want my help, huh," Lana said while showing a smugly smile. "You are so difficult to handle."
Lana was getting carried away again. Still, since the topic was important right now, Jake decided to give his retribution later. In any case, since Clark's party could cause a lot of damage, it was only natural that the other groups would need a priest in case they get the boss' agro from Jake. Even though he had yet to fail in making any boss lose their focus on him… was that a good thing? To always become the favorite sandbag of the bosses?
"That can be done," Clark said. "Still, you will need to be careful since our attacks have a large area of effect.
"No problem," Jake said.
That alert seemed a bit suspicious, but Jake was someone who always paid attention to his surroundings, so getting hit by stray shots would be unlikely. Unless it is very intentional. While Jake was wearing the green armor, he decided to trade for the blue one since it would grant him some extra resistance against ice magic. According to Clark, the boss could use ice magic instead of water magic. Before entering the dungeon, most of the members bought some potions, but Jake was the only one who didn't. Not only he didn't have the chance to use potions when the bosses were so close to him, but he also felt that using them would be a bit too cheap when he had so many people fighting alongside him.
Once that was done, they entered the dungeon and fought for around ten minutes before reaching the last part of the dungeon. This time, they didn't find a door blocking their path, and thanks to that, they could see the boss ahead sitting in the lotus position in front of the purple crystal.

Jake was surprised… even though the monster was sixty levels below the ice wolf, the boss almost had the same level of strength. All the other attributes were also too high for a monster of that level… but then Jake understood that the level probably determines only the potential of a creature according to with their species… After all, it would be weird if a level one hundred slimes could face a level one hundred snow wolf. Nevertheless, the Reptilian Hero was almost a meter taller than the others, and the creature also had some bulging muscles, so Jake could tell that its attacks would be pretty heavy… So, he equipped his shield and katana instead of the claymore.
"Can any of you use electric attacks?" Clark asked. "That monster is resistant to ice, after all."
Everyone shook their head. Electric attacks were pretty useful since they could paralyze foes with low resistances for as long as the spell lasted. Still, that kind of ability was probably too expensive for any of them.
"I suppose we will have to hit his head with fire magic then," Clark said. "That will give Jake the chance to attack him more than a few times."
"I heard that some guilds lent items to their new members for them to learn useful skills. Your guild is different?" Lana asked.
"No, the area of effect attacks we have were granted by weapons that the guild master lent to us," Clark replied. "While they have some magic weapons that would grant us electric attacks, we still are newbies. We must prove our skills and loyalty to the guild for a while longer."
It seemed that Clark's guild master was a bit more careful than Luke's. That was good from Jake's perspective. It was much better than keeping offering items and skills to newbies to succeed in recruiting them. Nevertheless, it was time to face the boss. So, the group entered the dungeon and quickly split to assume their positions. At the same time, the boss got up and looked cautiously toward them. That wasn't an AI. It was a real creature… while that didn't wave Jake's will to defeat, it certainly put him on guard…
Before the monster could attack anyone, Jake fired three Mana Blades toward it. However, the creature spun its spear around to block the attacks. While the monster actually suffered some damage and was pushed back a few meters, that still surprised Jake…
