Chapter 49 49. CRILION
Chapter 49 49. CRILION
They both went around the city, getting things that James said he needed. Although they really weren't much, the problem was that, there were usually long queues, for some unknown reasons.
At a point Noah had to leave James to go get something, new weapons. He had broken his old one the other night, so he had to get a new one.
Immediately he got to the blacksmiths shop. The blacksmith Jeff, had been surprised to see him just after a day.
Making an excuse for why he was back for a new weapon, Noah bought another staff and a pair of Daggers.
Ever since James had told him he used daggers, he had kept it in mind to buy a pair and ask James to teach him, after all it wasn't bad to learn a new weapon, like the old saying 'Dont keep all your eggs in one basket'.
Both weapons had cost him, a whooping 95 middle sized copper coins. Surprisingly daggers weren't actually that expensive, at least low graded one's.
Meeting up with James at where he had left him, Noah had to wait for a bit over thirty minutes before they could meet up.
Honestly during that period of wait, Noah had to endure, the stares of multiple people, both men and women, this was because of his good looking face. It seemed most of them wondered how someone like him was still in Vonol.
Sighting James figure exiting the one storey building, Noah waved to allow James find him.
Walking over to Noah, James voice rang out, "Are you done with what you said you needed to do?", he questioned.
Nodding his head Noah answered, "Yes,". "Good, because where we are going next might take a while", James said as he pat Noah's shoulder.
Rasing an eyebrow at his words and gesture, Noah asked, "Where are we going?".
"To the Carriage garage", James answered, as he began to walk ahead of Noah.
Rushing to catch up with him, they walked for multiple minutes while James explained their plan.
The Carriage garage was a place where people booked carriages for their travel.
The carriages would be booked by multiple people, and until it was filled up, it would not depart from the garage.
It kind of reminded Noah of an airport, only difference was that, they were an outdated mode of transportation on Earth.
But that wasn't the only function of the Carriage garage. Due to the high rate of bandits attacks, the owners of the carriage would always hire people to proctect them throughout the journey, in return for payment.
Though most people usually signed up, because they wanted to go to wherever the carriage was headed, but didn't have money for it, but were relatively strong.
Of course there was also a minimum power level which was the peak of the middle stage of tier 1 to most quests. Since most bandits were usually as strong as that, or stronger.
During their discussion, Noah had asked a crucial question about their plan, which was, where exactly 'Bozolom' would be taking place.
The question had greatly surprised James who could only stare at Noah's helpless smile for many seconds.
Truth be told, it wasn't really Noah's fault, the library didn't have anything on that topic, and he didn't have anyone he talked to about the event, apart from James.
Eventually, James had answered, "Bozolom is always held in the city of Crilion", He said.
It was a big city that had gone through multiple changes over the years, mostly because of the games the royal family held there.
At first it was but a small town, but because of its high Mana density, it was used as grounds for many experiments.
Which ranged from high tier spells to training grounds for recruits, until a bit over a century ago, the current royal family decided to use it for its games, since it's Mana rich environment made it easier for formations or inscriptions to work.
Noah could only be amazed by the many fantastical things Cregar had to offer, and the fact that he had only seen a bit of it made him shiver.
About the topic of Inscriptions and formations, Noah asked James if he was into any of them, and James reply was, "Well, definitely."
"During my younger days without my parents, I had to make use of myself. Though I am currently not focused on that, since I have bigger goals, they will definitely be part of me.
How do you think I was able to pay for the house my brother and I live in. Through hard work and multiple hours of study in the local academy", James explained.
"The only problem was that, I couldn't further my education on it, which led me to other things, but they were first", James added with a sad expression.
Noah could only stare at him with a weird expression, it seemed James was also more than he let on.
"Would you teach me?," Noah eventually asked after a few seconds of silence.
"Well definitely, though that would be when we have a bit more time", James replied with a smile. While Noah nodded in response.
After a few more minutes of discussion, they eventually arrived at the place.
A large ash painted building entered their eyes, as there was no guards on the outside, for reasons unknown to Noah. The building was more wide than tall, probably due to the carriages on the inside.
Walking through the door, a large room, lit with yellow lights entered Noah's and James sight, as inside the large room, there were multiple booths with long queues of people.
Once in a while they would see humans, either walk into the part of the building sepearated from the room, where carriages could be seen neatly parked, and a good distance away from each other, or walk outside with anger on their expressions.
Entering a random queue, Noah and James stood there for a few minutes until it was their turn, during that time they would watch people storm out of the place with loud curses, or try to attack the staff, but before they could do that, they would collapse, unconscious!.
This had left Noah incredibly curious, and James could only answer after he felt Noah's hot gaze on his back.
"Formations and inscriptions can do many of things, we may not see it, but as someone who has dabbled in that world, I could feel the movement of Mana, during each activation.
Like I said they can do many things which range from attacking people with spells that whoever designed them put, or make while castles Invisible".
"This time inscriptions and formations were used hand in hand. The Inscriptions were probably for making the activation of the formation invisible, while the formation for making whoever that broke a rule pass out." James explained.
"I can't really explain much since this type is currently out of my league, I suspect that a highly watered expert did this", James said with a shrug.
While Noah could only stare with wide eyes. Truth be told he didn't feel the Mana flow during the activation, but James did, and the fact that he could figure out that much from one look meant that James was really sound in such topics.
"What do you want?", The male who was behind the booth asked, with a bored expression.
"We would like to sign up for a job as guards for any carriage heading to Crilion", James replied with a smile.
