Chapter 626. CURRENCY

626  626. CURRENCY

Noah stood high in the skies. The darkness of night expanded all around him as the moonless sky remained rather stale yet subtly peaceful. The winds rushed into his face and he let them play with his white and silver hair.

His appearance had barely changed as he advanced through the stages. Due to the significantly short period it took him to ascend the tiers, his youthfulness had not only been retained but also refreshed. Noah still looked to be in his mid-twenties.

However, this would not be the topic for the reason he stood high up in the sky.

Suddenly, something drew his attention from the endless horizon. Lady Edna.

"You should find a settlement not too far from here. At least based on your movement speed. I believe interacting would satisfy your thirst," the expert explained staring at the horizon too.

"You might find certain things different though. Be prepared to adapt even if you won't spend too much time there. I believe you'll learn from this experience."

"After all it is a cultivator's innate desire to experience the varieties of the world they one day hope to stand above."

Noah nodded, agreeing with her words. A few thoughts appeared and shattered in his mind and he eventually decided to speak.

"How will I meet back with you guys? I understand that you'll continue from here. "

"I knew you'd mention that," Lady Edna revealed opening her palm on which a black stone appeared.

Noah tried to inspect that object but her aura flared for a bit and that event captured his attention. This was the first time she had unfolded in power. Before then her very figure lacked an aura.

In the instant her aura unfolded a wide portion of the sky around them saw a yellow light appearing, only to shrink till that radiance existed around the lady like a halo. Only that it existed several inches from her skin.

That yellow light further condensed till they became lines that fused with the black stone to grant it yellow inscriptions.

Noah watched that process with utmost attention, making sure to not miss anything that had happened. His silver gaze fell on those shining lines now glowing on the black pebble.

They did not form any real words or any proper shape, but Noah understood that that wasn't their real function to begin with.

The moment those lines merged with the black stone they immediately began to emit an aura identical to that of the fifth-tier expert. It was mild but evident.

'A simple method of blessing items with one's aura,' Noah spoke inwardly.

She stretched her palm towards him, which shattered his series of thoughts.

"Take this. When you need to find me just crush it with your consciousness. It'll create a traceable trail of my aura. At least the bits that evidently escape my grasp," she explained and Noah could not but further respect her.

The effect of her creation was rather simple but to even reach such levels of potency spoke of skill.

"We probably won't be too far from you, so it'll be easier to find me," she stated and Noah took the stone from her to store it in his inventory.

"By not being too far you mean you'll still be within a few regions from me. Maybe tens," Noah chuckled. His chuckle hung in his throat after a second or so seeing as the expert did not so much as blink. Like an automated bot. Creepy.

Noah cleared his throat and she nodded to float away from him. They would begin their journey in the morning.

Exhaling as though he had not been breathing for a long time, Noah cast his gaze on the world again.

The night was young and now that had had means of finding the experts he could spend a bit more time than initially planned.

"Maybe a day," he muttered. It wasn't much, but all he desired was to dwell among those people for a bit.

A few more thoughts unfolded in his mind as a basic plan formed.

Sparks eventually began to flicker around his figure as silver currents ran across his, hair, face, eyes, and even clothes. The air around him quickly got charged and he remained prepared to move when a tap arrived on his shoulder.

"Fuck-!" Noah leaped forward, utterly startled. He had not sensed any presence.

"I apologize, it is me," a voice sounded in his mind. Lady Edna.

"Jeez," he took a deep breath placing his hand on his chest in relief. His features contorted as he glared at the expert unintentionally intentionally. "Please try to announce your arrival at the very least."

"I am sorry," Lady Edna responded politely. Noah had ended up creating several meters of distance in that short burst.

He approached her now. "What happened? Do they have a problem with my decision?" He voiced a part of his worries.

"Oh, no. I simply forgot to give you this," she stated as an object streaked towards Noah who caught it with his mental waves to inspect it.

It was a simple black bag. The objects on its inside jingled and clinked.

"Coins? I have lots of that," Noah stated, showing confusion.

"No doubt you do. But you seem to forget that we are no longer in Cusk," The expert stated.

It took Noah less than a second for her words to click. And needless to say, sincere surprise appeared on his features.

Noah wasn't one new to the art of traveling and changing locations. But all the while he had been doing so he had never needed to change currency. As such, its need had naturally skipped his mind now that they had crossed borders.

The fact that their mode of traveling remained one he was used to also didn't help the matter. It hardly seemed they had truly left an entire nation.

The purse landed on his palm and he opened it to find the new currency that he would utilize in that nation.

From what he saw, the people of the Papine nation did not adopt a system of coins like the citizens of Cusk did.

"That is called Gin. It's named after the god that they believe in. Gin Lin Xue. It's the manifestation of the purchasing power being utilized in Papine."

Noah stared at those cleanly cut crimson chunks of metal no less than an inch in size. On each of them, a similar engraving stood. He failed to understand it since that was his first time seeing such a mark. An interesting sight.
