Chapter 244 - Marriage Advice.
For the Bridal shower party, there were love balloons, confetti balloons, and the bride-to-be sash, which Xiaoxiao put on Chen Lihua immediately she arrived.
Paper straws, decor set, bride-to-be banner, bride-to-be cake topper, bride-to-be favor bags, burlap bags, hairbands for them to tie and hold their hairs back.
??There were bride tribe cups, photo clip string light. Most of Chen Lihua's pictures were hanged, starting from when she was born till when she became a successful adult.
A baby-pink foil fringe curtains could be seen, which Chen Lihua parted before entering the center of the place (where they would sit).
Diamond cake toppers could be seen on the bridal shower cake. Photo booth props kit, glitter paper garland, white and gold paper party pack, 'I Do' crew party bags were also there.
Among others were glitter paper hearts, ring confetti, white battery tea lights, Miss to Mrs bottle holder, Happily ever after banner, chocolate kiss labels, welcome to a bridal shower stage arts, future Mrs gift box, and lots more. Donut favor bags with 'Donut, mind if I Do' written on it, and then with, 'Lihua & Longwei Sept 2* 20**' written at the bottom of the Donut favor bags.
There were also games like bridal bingo & he said, she said, wedding word find, and four (4) packs of bridal shower games.
The entire ceremony went well, and it was fun, coupled with Chen Lihua's crazy friends making the whole place lively.
The funny thing was that her bridesmaids were in uniform. They wore short and sexy red dresses to match with Chen Lihua.
Another crazy fact was that the same colors of outfits Chen Lihua and her bridesmaids were currently putting on were the same colors as those they would be putting on tomorrow.
After playing the games and cutting the cake, it was time for advice and well wishes.
Well, wishes cards were given to Chen Lihua, and they also advised her, especially her mother, mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, and some of her friends that were already married; since they've each had a handful of experiences in their own marriages.
"You don't walk out from your marriage because it's not working, you try to make it work. You do your best to fix it," Lady Chen said to Chen Lihua without knowing that Liu Huiling was paying rapt attention to her words.
Those words really made Liu Huiling absent-minded as her mind became filled with thoughts of her marriage with her husband.
She had already planned giving up on her marriage and leave her matrimonial home with her daughters, even after threatening her husband.
Her reason for threatening him was very simple, she wanted him to be represented at her brother's wedding ceremony, so as not to cast her face, outside.
She didn't really mind bringing up her daughters by herself, because she was more than capable, and she also had her family to support and back her up.
But Lady Chen's advice to Chen Lihua made her have a second thought about her marriage.
'Since I've been tolerating him for a while now, there is no harm tolerating for a few more times. I can try to make my marriage work,' Liu Huiling said to herself.
The truth is that she has been tolerating her husband for a long now, without trying to confront him or find out what the problem was, and why he would cheat on her.
The issue here is that she hadn't made any effort to make her marriage work since she found out about her husband's cheating habit.
She just sat down, crossed her legs while folding her arms as she watched things go on by itself.
But now, she has decided to give her marriage a second trial. At least, it was better than not doing anything at all.
No woman wants her marriage to crash. And if she doesn't want hers to crash, she has got to stand up and do something about it.
Madam Liu had been observing her daughter, Liu Huiling since Lady Chen made that statement.
Even the troubled expression on her daughter's face didn't escape her sight.
Since Liu Huiling had refused to open up to her on her marriage, she decided to wash her hands off her problems.
She knew that Liu Huiling was a proud person, and so cannot try to force words out of her mouth; otherwise, she (Liu Huiling) would pick a quarrel with her.
And since she didn't have the slightest idea of what was going on in her (Liu Huiling) marriage, she didn't know how to help her. So she could only give her random advice from time to time.
Madam Liu became happy to see that Lady Chen's words had a positive impact on her.
At least now, she can be assured that Liu Huiling might open up to her, and find the solution to her problem.
Chen Lihua, who the advice was for, didn't say anything but thought otherwise.
Instead of her to keep that advice in mind so she would know how to handle her relationship with Liu Longwei because relationships are not always smooth sailing; she started thinking of her parent's relationship.
Her mother's advice to her made her think twice about the kind of relationship her parents had.
'No wonder mum continued to stay in the relationship with her father even though he physically abused her at times, she was trying to make their marriage work. But what if she had died in the process, would she have been able to make her marriage work in the grave?'
These were the thoughts that were going through Chen Lihua's mind.
You can't blame Chen Lihua for thinking that way because she had seen her father hit her mother on some occasions after getting into an argument.
But there was one thing she has failed to understand up till now. People are different.
Just like her mother and mother-in-law, they each had things they could tolerate.
"Lihua dear, no marriage is perfect. Husband and wife have to learn to tolerate each of their shortcomings. Marriage is not a bed of roses," Madam Liu said to the slightly absent-minded Chen Lihua.
But Chen Lihua still nodded because she heard her. At least her attention was called back when she heard her name.
Chen Lihua already knew that no relationship was perfect. At times, she also had some misunderstandings with her mother, familiar friends as well. So, she understood this part well enough.
